Anthony Bourdain Raps About Lisa

Last week a music video for a song entitled “Lisa” hit YouTube. Surprisingly, “Lisa” is a collaboration between Anthony Bourdain and the English band Morcheeba in which Tony “raps” over one of Morcheeba’s songs. It’s really more “spoken word” than it is “rapping,” with Bourdain reading a short story he wrote about a chef named Lisa and a typical night for her working in a restaurant’s kitchen. I wasn’t sure what the deal with song was until I finally watched this week’s episode of No Reservations.

Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations
In this week's episode Tony headed to London and Edinburgh and gave the song “Lisa” its national television debut. Not only that, but Bourdain headed into the studio again with Morcheeba to record a brand new song, “Get Carter.”

Only a few brief seconds of the music video for “Lisa” played in this week’s episode, so if you’d like to watch the song in its entirety I’ve included the YouTube video below. For the Bourdainians out there who loved the song and need to add it to their iPods, I’ve also included a link to the MP3 of "Lisa," courtesy of the Travel Channel. There's also been a music video created for Morcheeba and Bourdain’s new song “Get Carter,” which can only be seen here.

Watch the No Reservations Marathon Monday, February 18th starting at 9/8 AM central going all day long and culminating with an all new episode at 10/9 PM central as Anthony Bourdain visits Jamaica.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Teaser Trailer

Finally the much hyped teaser trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie hit the internet. While The Blot is really excited to see the fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, I was a little under whelmed by the first trailer. Yes the Indy theme music got me pumped up and seeing Harrison Ford in his Indiana Jones costume brought back fond memories, its just that the bigger and more detailed the special effects got the more fake they seemed.

Obviously special effects are fake, thats the whole point, but there was something to the original movies that made them all seem plausible and real to me. Watching Ford, at his age especially, swing from the rafters on his trusty whip and then later watching the car chase all came off as really CGI to me. After watching it what did you think?

Happy Valentine’s Day

I could go on and on about what a special day today is, but I know no one wants to hear it! I’m just glad to see the holiday come and go already because I can’t stand to sit through another one of those horrible Russell Stover commercials about how Valentine’s Day isn’t complete without one of their heart shaped boxes of chocolates.

Sawyer - Lost Valentine
Listening to those men in the commercial talk about how they might as well not go home on Valentine’s Day if they don’t bring home a box of chocolates to their wives makes me want to puke. As if that commercial wasn’t bad enough, of course there is the follow up commercial where the wives are discussing how those little boxes of chocolate really make the holiday memorable. Are they seriously pushing this on the viewing public? Let me set the story straight right here and now, chocolate does not make the holiday memorable! I’m pretty sure most people would be thrilled to forgo Russell Stover’s heat shaped box of chocolates for one special night with a real Valentine…I know I would.

That’s why I’m boycotting chocolate this Valentine’s Day and I suggest you do the same! Instead Al and I will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a heart shaped rice crispy treat. Ok, I know M&M’s are chocolate but whatever…to me they have always been just “candy” and not really chocolate per se, but I know that’s debatable.
