Wolverine and The X-Men Animated Series Debut Trailer

Marvel Comics has a new animated series set to debut on Nicktoons in the spring of 2009 and its called Wolverine and The X-Men. The trailer for the upcoming cartoon hit the web last week and all I could think about while watching it was how similar in look and feel it was to the X-Men cartoon from the early to mid-90’s. That animated series was not your typical children’s cartoon because it dealt with more adult issues (well pg-13 at issues at least) and seemed to follow more closely the storylines originated in the X-Men comic books. Most importantly, it was beloved by fans of The X-Men because of how accurately it portrayed the characters we've all come to know and love.


Nicktoons’ new series Wolverine and The X-Men seems to be aiming for something very similar in that storylines seem to mimic stories set in the real X-Men universe and the characters appear to closely resemble their comic book counterparts. I always appreciate when a cartoon marketed towards children can also be enjoyed by comic book fans of all ages. This definitely doesn’t seem to be a kiddie version of the X-Men and with Emma Frost, Cannonball and Kitty Pryde as members of the team and appearances by Dust, Spiral, Mojo, and even The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine and the X-Men should be a really great series. Star Wars Darth Maul with Sith Speeder Kubrick Figure

Medicom has been making Star Wars Kubrick figures for a while now, but this one may be one of my favorites. The limited edition Darth Maul with Sith Speeder Kubrick box set looks awesome, and I find myself actually liking what they’ve done with Maul’s costume. I’m definitely one of those Star Wars fans that prefers the characters from the original trilogy, but I can always get behind a figure of a Dark Lord of the Sith.


Look for this new version of the Darth Maul Kubrick figure to hit stores sometime this month, but expect prices to be well over the suggested retail price of $30. The figure is limited to 2007 pieces and is sure to a hard find in the U.S., which means prices will skyrocket on the secondary market.

Coldplay Releases Viva La Vida North American Tour Dates

As we all know, when a new album’s on the horizon so too is a new tour. So with Coldplay’s upcoming release of Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends scheduled for June 17, 2008, the British band has now scheduled a follow-up North American tour to start a week later. The tour seems extremely expansive and will be hitting major cities all across the U.S. and Canada. The coolest part of the tour may be the fact that its opening night concert at Madison Square Garden will be completely free and tickets can be won directly from the band's website here.


I know Coldplay gets a bad rap from a lot of music fans but I’ve really come around to their unique sound. The Blot was definitely a hater for a while, but when I finally sat down and took a listen to their last album, X&Y, I realized the cd was actually pretty good. After that I went back and started listening to their older stuff, most of which I've also started to enjoy. Therefore, I’m actually looking forward to seeing what new direction the band has taken with their newest album Viva La Vida.
