Huck Gee Day at VinylPulse

Huck Gee - TheToyMafia.comYesterday was the birthday of one of my favorite artists, Huck Gee (happy birthday Huck!). In honor of the big day, VinylPulse.com turned over the keys to their kingdom to Huck so he could unveil some new products that would be going on sale this week.

The first item is a Skullhead paperweight entitled #6 released by Fully Visual. Only 100 of these metal figures were created, “99 silver-plated pieces and one gold-plated chase,” and will be sold for $120. (link) “Each numbered figure is sealed in an aluminum can and measures 2.5” tall and 3” wide," but unfortunetly anyone just hearing about these figures for the very first time here on The Blot Says... has already missed out on the opportunity to purchase one. (link) The Huck Gee #6 Skullhead paperweight went on sale yesterday at 1 pm pacific and sold out immediately.

The next item Huck unveiled yesterday was a set of 10 custom hand-painted 8” Negative Skullhead Dunnys. The Negative Colorway basically means he took his original Skullhead Dunny design and swapped the color scheme, so everything that was black is now white and everything that was white is now black. Huck admits he took the easy way out in creating this new Dunny design, but thinks “the negative colorway [is] better than the original.” (link) The Negative Colorway 8 inch Skullhead Dunny set is priced at $600 each and goes on sale this Friday, May 23, 2008 at Noon PDT at Huck Gee’s ebay store.

And last, but not least, is Huck’s “very limited mystery ‘bootleg’ toy” #2, which also goes on sale this Friday, May 23, 2008 at Noon PDT at Huck Gee’s ebay store. (link) This is the second time Huck has done a bootleg toy, in which he sells the set in a blind box before ever unveiling what the figure inside looks like. The mystery figure is limited to 25 pieces and is being sold for the much more reasonable price of $100 each. Once the figure is sold out, Huck will reveal to the world the mystery bootleg figure.

The Dark Knight - New Joker Movie Poster

The Blot can’t believe the amount of promotional posters, banners and viral websites that are being produced for July's Batman movie, The Dark Knight. I can’t think of the last summer blockbuster that had this much fanfare and yet might not even be the highest grossing film of the summer. Regardless, this type of overexposure is not near as bad, or in your face, as the horrible and annoying advertising for last year’s Bee Movie. If I had to see one more Jerry Seinfeld appearance to promote Bee Movie I was going to cancel my cable. But I digress…this new The Dark Knight promo poster featuring Heath Ledger’s Joker is a beauty.

The Dark Knight - New Joker Theatrical Movie Poster
I’m glad to see The Dark Knight’s PR team is not shying away form using Ledger’s photo in the film’s promotional products. As we’ve learned from previous Batman movies, the villains often become the stars of the show, and the Joker will definitely be no exception to that rule. The Dark Knight flies into theaters Friday, July 18, 2008.

Robin-ism Of The Week

Aw, man! I love Springsteen.

He’s like the American Bryan Adams.

Barney-ism Of The Week - How I Met Your Mother Season Finale

“Do you guys remember Barney’s whole thing about making plans in a relationship?” - Ted

{flashback}

“Fourth row!” – Ted showing off his newly acquired concert tickets

Ted, no! You’re violating the Date-Time Continuum.
You never make plans with a girl further in the future than the amount of time you’ve been going out.

You’ve been dating this girl for what, two weeks? No, you’re not taking her to a Springsteen concert in January.
(Barney tears up the tickets)

By that time you won’t even remember this Robin girl’s name.

How I Met Your Mother

Well, we’ve finally reached the season finale of How I Met Your Mother Season 3 and I’m sitting on pins and needles as to whether or not Stella is Ted’s future wife. What a cliffhanger!!! While this is the end for The Blot’s Barney-isms Of The Week for a few months, thankfully its not the end of the feature completely. The Barney-isms Of The Week segment will return next fall with the beginning of HIMYM’s Season 4. As a parting gift, I’ll be posting my favorite line from last night and possibly of the season in a little while. Be on the look out for a special guest "–ism of the week" coming shortly.
