Girl Talk - Feed the Animals Available Now for Download

Girl TalkThe internet is a buzz on the release of Girl Talk’s (a.k.a. Gregg Gillis) new album Feed the Animals. The DJ’s 2006 album Night Ripper was one of the coolest, most creative albums released that year and was in constant rotation on my iPod and in my home for a ridiculous amount of months. With his latest album, Girl Talk has decided to follow the Radiohead model by allowing purchasers to name their own price to download Feed the Animals, which you can do so here.

Girl Talk - Feed the Animals Album Cover
You can pay as little as $0.00 or as much as you want, but as an incentive Gillis is releasing the album in three different formats. Any price gets you “the entire album as high-quality 320kbps mp3s, $5 or more adds the options of FLAC files, plus a one-file seamless mix of the album, [while] $10 or more includes all of the above + a packaged CD (when it becomes available). (link) Anyway you look at it, it’s a pretty awesome deal.

Girl Talk - Night Ripper Album CoverFor those of you not familiar with Girl Talk’s work, “he specializes in sample-based remixes, in which he uses at least a dozen elements from different songs to create a ‘new’ song.” (link) Surprisingly, neither Gillis nor his label, Illegal Art, have been sued from his use of samples on albums he sells. While many have speculated it is because he uses so many samples to create each new song that he really is creating new works of art, I am guessing it’s because there is not much money to get and most artists actually like his work. Night Ripper was amazing and from the reviews I’ve read, Feed the Animals is even better. As I type this, I’m heading over to the Feed the Animals website to download the album. I hope you do the same after reading this post.

New Star Wars: The Clone Wars Theatrical Trailer

If you were one of the millions of Americans to go see The Incredible Hulk on opening weekend last week, then you also got a look at the new theatrical trailer for the upcoming animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the big screen. Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ theatrical trailer is so much better in the theater, but if you don’t plan on seeing The Incredible Hulk and you’re a fan of Star Wars then I highly recommend watching the trailer below. While it features some all new, never before seen characters, it also has many of the series’ old favorites including Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the whiny Anakin Skywalker. Look for Star Wars: The Clone Wars in theaters on August 15, 2008.

8 Inch Eggy Dunny by Devilrobots

Today, June 19th, is the official release of the Eggy Dunny, Kidrobot’s newest 8 Inch Dunny by Japan’s Devilrobots. Devilrobots, best known for their character To-Fu Head and the line of products based on the figure, have possibly created the worst designed 8” Dunny The Blot has seen in a very long time. The Eggy Dunny looks, well, like a cracked egg and its head and body have a pearlescent-shell on it to give off the appearance of an actual egg shell.

Kidrobot - 8 Inch Eggy Dunny and Package by DevilrobotsThe one redeeming quality of this limited edition vinyl figure is its price. At the low price of $29.95, the Eggy Dunny might be the cheapest 8 Inch Dunny from Kidrobot we see in a very long time. While most of the reviews I’ve read also speak negatively of the figure’s design, it’s hard to complain about the price. Especially after last month’s release of the 3 Bears Dunny Series, in which if you wanted all three figures you’d have to shell out upwards of $150. Regardless, if you’ve been waiting for a reasonably priced 8” figure to start your Dunny collecting then this is the figure for you! Or, if you’re looking to start customizing Dunnys but haven’t had the right figure to blank out, might I suggest picking up a few Eggy Dunnys.
