One Week Until The Dark Knight Returns

The Dark Knight - A Picture of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne Vandalized By The JokerThe official countdown has begun until the world premiere of The Dark Knight. We are one week away and already the media frenzy around this movie is growing. I’ve yet to find a single bad review online and some of the critics giving the movie positive reviews is really quite impressive. Even The Blot’s favorite film maker, writer/director Kevin Smith says the movie is “epic..it’s the Godfather II of comic book films and three times more earnest than Batman Begins…easily the most adult comic book film ever made.” (link) That’s pretty high praise from a man hard to please!

If you have any inclination about seeing this movie on opening weekend then I highly urge you to preorder your tickets now, because this film is going to easily turn into the biggest blockbuster of 2008 and tickets will be hard to find. To get you even more excited, check out this awesome new The Dark Knight promotional poster made up entirely of joker playing cards.

TNA Wrestling - Victory Road PPV on Sunday, July 13 in Houston

TNA Wrestling LogoThis Sunday I’m dragging Aly to Reliant Arena here in Houston, TX to watch TNA Wrestling's Victory Road '08 Pay-Per-View. I hope you don’t think less of me after reading that. Growing up in the 80’s The Blot was a huge fan of professional wrestling, and while I returned to watching the “sport” during its renaissance period of the late 90’s, I haven’t really followed the industry much lately other than reading up on it online. Like most of us who grew up following the Hulkster back in the day before he ever knew best, you probably haven’t heard of wrestling’s newest player, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

TNA Wrestling - Victory Road 08 Pay-Per-View
Founded in 2002 by Jeff Jarrett, TNA Wrestling has quickly grown to solidify its position as the number 2 organization in wrestling, especially after its weekly television show, TNA iMPACT!, debuted on Spike TV. I haven’t attended a live wrestling event since before the year 2000, but when I heard Houston was hosting its very first TNA PPV I thought it was a great opportunity to checkout this up and coming wrestling brand.

King Booker T and Queen SharmellWhat finally convinced me to purchase the tickets is when I found out one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, Houston’s very own Booker T, was headlining the PPV in a TNA World Championship Match against the TNA World Champion Samoa Joe. I’m hoping since the PPV is in Houston (where Booker T’s wrestling academy/wrestling promotion the Pro Wrestling Alliance is located) and it’s his first time to headline a TNA PPV singles match, he might finally win his very first TNA World Championship since leaving the WWE. If you live in the Houston area and are interested in attending the event, tickets are still available here at Ticketmaster.com.

The Cool Kids - The Bake Sale and Thats Stupid! The Mixtape

The Cool Kids - The Bake Sale EP CoverThis is a busy time for the Midwestern rap duo The Cool Kids, who have produced two new releases for the summer of '08. First up from Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish, a.k.a. The Cool Kids, is a 10 track EP entitled The Bake Sale. Released by Chocolate Industires/C.A.K.E. Recordings, the EP can be found online at both iTunes and eMusic.

The Cool Kids - Thats Stupid! The Mixtape CoverThe Cool Kids’ second release of the summer is their long rumored first mixtape, That’s Stupid! It’s hosted by Mando Fresco of L.A.’s Power 106 and only has 7 tracks, but it’s definitely worth a listen. Best of all its 100% free! The Blot loves passing along the latest in legal free music, and this is an offering that shouldn’t be passed up. You can download the entire That’s Stupid! the Mixtape in one .Zip file by clicking the link below. Check it out and let me know what you think.
