Barneyism of the Week Pt. 2 - The Cheerleader Effect

Ahhh, there is so much to teach you all.

You have just become victims of...the Cheerleader Effect.

Glad you asked.

The Cheerleader Effect is when a group of women seems hot,
but only as a group.

Just like with cheerleaders.

They seem hot, but take each one of them individually….sled dogs!

"Not a Father's Day"

How I Met Your Mother

How great was last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother? I thought “Not A Father’s Day” was one of the best episodes of the show’s still young 4th season and a lot of that had to do with so much of the episode’s focus being on Barney. If anyone caught the reference to NotAFathersDay.com and wondered if it was a real website, it is! And it has some of the best merchandise and free downloads for a fake holiday anywhere on the net. I don’t know who came up with the idea for all of these How I Met Your Mother tie-in websites, but they continually out do themselves. Without a doubt, no other show besides Lost has such a well thought out viral web marketing campaign as HIMYM.

Barneyism of the Week Pt. 1 - Mos Eisley Cantina

I am not impressed with the talent in here tonight.

And the more I drink the less attractive they get.

I am one scotch and soda away from the cantina scene in
Star Wars.

How I Met Your Mother

Has anyone else noticed how well How I Met Your Mother is doing in the ratings? After struggling for three seasons to find an audience, the show’s audience is growing and HIMYM is doing incredibly well in the key 18-49 demographics. In fact, “ratings are up 15% in viewers (9.6 million) and 24% for advertiser-coveted young adults” (link) It’s looking more and more like The Blot was wrong to criticize the show’s stunt casting of Britney Spears last year.

What is really interesting is that “while most series suffered steep declines” in ratings after the WGA strike ended, “Mother, boosted by Britney Spears’ guest appearances, shot up in the ratings.” (link) This has led to “a string of series highs and rich syndication deals” for HIMYM, something that will prove very profitable for the show’s creators. (link) Additionally, in the past CBS has considered How I Met Your Mother “on the bubble,” meaning there was some question as to whether the show should be renewed. But, HIMYM’s new found popularity combined with Lifetime winning the exclusive cable rerun rights for around $725,000 an episode should be enough to ensure the show is picked up for many more seasons to come. The Incredible MD by TobyHK

Welcome to Day 2 of The Blot’s Comic Book Inspired Designer Vinyl Figure Colorway Week!

holy MD by TobyHKThe incredible MD is an Incredible Hulk inspired colorway of Hong Kong artist tobyHK’s boxer, holy MD. Sadly, I don’t know too much about tobyHK but you can read his official bio here. What I do know is that holy MD is the newest figure from his Dumb Dummies series. The first Dumb Dummies figure was actually based on tobyHK himself, but it is his heavyweight boxer that’s really got The Blot excited.

Even if tobyHK hadn’t released a colorway based on the Marvel Comics super hero I’d still be a fan of the holy MD vinyl figure. But, when you apply the Hulk’s classic color scheme (green skin and purple pants) to turn the mild mannered boxer holy MD into the incredible MD, well then the figure instantly becomes a must get for The Blot.

The best part of these limited edition figures are their size. While both the holy MD and the incredible MD retail for $100 each, you definitely get tons of value when you take into consideration how big the figures are. Both versions are 12 inches tall, 12 inches in width and 10 inches deep, so if you’re considering picking up one of these great figures make sure you have plenty of shelf space! The holy MD is limited to just 200 pieces while the incredible MD has an even smaller production run of only 100 figures.
