Hellboy and Abe Sapien Mez-Itz Vinyl Figures by Mezco

To be honest, The Blot is not all that familiar with Mez-Itz, Mezco’s new line of 6 inch collectible rotocast vinyl figures, but it looks like a pretty cool platform! Series 1 of Mezco's designer vinyl toy line features Hellboy (with his trusty revolver the Good Samaritan) & Abe Sapien, also known as Red and Blue, two of the stars of last summer’s smash hit Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Hellboy and Abe Sapien 6 Inch Mez-Itz Designer Vinyl Figures by Mezco
These Hellboy Mez-Itz figures are based on the character designs from Hellboy II: The Golden Army and do a great job introducing the new Mez-Itz platform to the designer vinyl community. I’m definitely excited to see what Mezco has in store for its new line of designer vinyl figures. Who knows what pop culture icons might show up next in Mez-Itz form?

Mezco has not yet released a price for its Hellboy Mez-Itz figures, but they are due in stores sometime during July of 2009.

Winnie the Pooh 100% Be@rbrick 2 Pack - Pooh & Piglet

This new Medicom Toy x Disney collaboration was just too cute to ignore. The Winnie the Pooh Be@rbrick 2 pack features two spot on recreations of Pooh and Piglet in 100% Be@rbrick form and are sure to make a great addition to the vinyl collections of both Disney collectors and Be@rbrick collectors. This is Pooh’s second or third time to be released as a Be@rbrick, but I believe this is the first time Piglet has been produced by Medicom in Be@rbrick form.

Winnie the Pooh 100% Be@rbrick 2 Pack by Medicom Toy - Pooh & Piglet
The Blot’s been a huge fan of the characters that populate A.A. Milne’s Hundred Acre Wood since I was a little kid, so it’s cool to see these childhood “friends” recreated in a new platform.

The Winnie the Pooh 100% Be@rbrick 2 pack featuring Piglet and the Pooh bear is due out in stores on October 11, 2009 and will retail for somewhere around $25-30.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra International One Sheet Movie Poster

The Blot’s not afraid to admit that I’m a huge flip flopper when it comes to whether or not G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra will be good. My head tells me no, but my heart keeps telling me yes! When I first saw G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’s new international one sheet movie poster I actually got excited. Then I saw whoever that is in the upper right hand corner of the poster (is that Cobra Commander?) and I got disappointed all over again. See, I really do have a love hate relationship with this movie.

Sgt. Robot - Kidrobot Mascot 17

As much as I love Kidrobot’s line of Kidrobot mascot vinyl figures, I honestly thought the series of robot figures would eventually get old. Instead, I find myself continually amazed at the ideas artists keep coming up with for this 8 inch platform. Kidrobot 17 was designed by painter Dave White, whose concept for Sgt. Robot was brought about by his love for playing with toy soldiers and making models as a kid. Dave hated how his models came painted in pristine condition, so he would rough them up with scratches, dints, mud, rust and bullet holes to make them look as though they’d emerged from the trenches.

Kidrobot - Sgt. Robot: Kidrobot Mascot 17 by Dave White
Kidrobot 17: Sgt. Robot emerges from the trenches on June 4, 2009 serious about his pacifist ways. Available in 2 rare colorways, army green or black, this 8” figure includes a removable bazooka, helmet and dove accessory and will retail for $50. Kidrobot is only producing 600 of each colorway, so don’t delay in recruiting one of these killer designer figures into your vinyl collection.

Shocker Toys Indie Spotlight Comic Book Heroes Toy Line - SDCC 2009 Exclusive Dick Tracy Black and White Variant and Standard Action Figures
The Blot has always been a huge Dick Tracy fan, so I am definitely going to try to get one of the B&W variant action figures at this summer’s San Diego Comic Con. Shocker Toys has not released the run size of either figure or a price for the black and white variant Dick Tracy figure, but the standard issue black and white Dick Tracy action figure is $35. Kidrobot - Skullhead 20 Inch Dunny by Huck Gee

The long rumored 20” Huck Gee Dunny has finally been confirmed by Kidrobot and it’s a beauty. We’ve known about it for a while, but were never sure when it was coming out and what the design would look like. I am a little surprised it features the same design as Huck’s Series 1 3 inch Dunny only because he sold a custom hand painted 20” Skullhead Dunny just last year. But who am I to complain!?!

Kidrobot - Skullhead 20 Inch Dunny by Huck Gee
The coolest part of Huck Gee’s 20 inch Skullhead Dunny is that everyone one comes hand-signed by the artist! This has to be a first for a Kidrobot production piece, right? The ultra-limited 20” Skullhead has a run size of just 200 pieces and will go on sale Thursday, June 18, 2009 for $400 each at Kidrobot stores, Kidrobot online and select retailers worldwide.

Inglourious Basterds Character Movie Posters

Here’s what The Blot knows about Inglourious Basterds: it’s loosely (and I do mean loosely) based on a 1978 Italian war movie directed by Enzo Castellari, it was written and directed by the great Quentin Tarantino and it stars Brad Pitt. And that’s really about all I need to know to entice me to go see the movie on opening night.

Inglourious Basterds Character Movie Posters - Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine
I expect Inglourious Basterds to be very bloody, have a killer soundtrack, feature numerous pop culture references and have some ridiculously awesome catch phrases. But then what else would you expect from a Quentin Tarantino film?

Inglourious Basterds Character Movie Posters - Diane Kruger as Bridget von Hammersmark
Inglourious Basterds Character Movie Posters - Eli Roth as Sgt. Donnie Donowitz
For those of you actually interested in the film’s plot, Inglourious Basterds takes place during World War II and features a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" who are handpicked to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by a group of Nazi soldiers, the same Nazi soldiers who killed her parents. (link and link) Sounds good, doesn’t it? If you’d like to find out more about Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds click here.

Inglourious Basterds Character Movie Posters - Til Schweiger as Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz
Inglourious Basterds stars Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender, Christoph Waltz, Diane Kruger, Daniel Bruhl, Til Schweger, Melanie Laurent, B.J. Novak (The Office), and Samm Levine (Freaks and Geeks).

Kidrobot - Dunny Endangered! Series Ratios

The Blot doesn’t know what the deal with Kidrobot’s latest 3 inch Dunny Series is because the designer toy company is being uber-secretive about it. No trading parties have been officially planned by KR and a checklist for the series still has not been released yet. All we know for sure is that the Endangered Series will have an extremely limited run and go on sale today (Thursday, May 21st) at 11am eastern online at the Kidrobot.com store and later in the day at select retailers nationwide.

Kidrobot - Dunny Endangered! Series Official Ratios
(click on the photo above for a more detailed look)

Thankfully blu (a.k.a. Elizabeth Berdann), who has a dunny in the Endangered! 3” Series, posted some pictures of her sealed case on the internet, which included a checklist of the Endangered! Series Dunnys and the figures’ corresponding ratios! (see the above picture or click here) Big ups to Ms. Berdann whose purple appaloosa horse (which comes with its own riding crop) looks killer!

The Dunny Endangered! 3” Series Blind Boxes are $8.95 each and can be purchased here directly from Kidrobot.

DC Comics Blammoids Series 1 Vinyl Figures by DC Direct

DC Comics Blammoids! Series 1 Vinyl Figures - Batman BlammoidYesterday DC Direct unveiled their newest line of designer vinyl figures based on the heroes and villains of the DC Universe, Blammoids. The Blot’s not a huge fan of the name DC Direct gave this new platform toy, but I am glad to see they are thinking outside the box. Plus, these cute little chunky figures are actually pretty cool looking. According to DC’s official release, Blammoids are “a striking, hyper-stylized twist on the world’s greatest heroes and their biggest foes.” (link) Blammoids! Series 1 includes heroes Batman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Aquaman and Firestorm, and villains the Joker and Sinestro.

DC Comics Blammoids! Series 1 by DC Direct - Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Firestorm, Aquaman, Batman & the Joker
Blammoids is a series of 2.5” to 4” PVC mini figures. Each figure is packaged on a blister card and comes with three points of articulation. Thankfully this will not be a blind box series, but some figures will be harder to get than others. Each case of Blammoids will contain 3 Batman figures, 3 Joker figures, 2 Green Lantern Hal Jordan figures, 2 Sinestro figures, 1 Aquaman figure and 1 Firestorm figure. As you can imagine the second tier characters included in Blammoids Series 1, like Aquaman and Firestorm, should be relatively difficult to find.

DC Comics Blammoids! Series 1 Vinyl Figures - Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Sinestro Blammoids
DC Comics Blammoids! Series 1 Vinyl Figures - Firestorm BlammoidI think these turned out really well, and I absolutely love the Firestorm Blammoid. It’s great to see DC Direct producing characters mainstream America may be unfamiliar with, especially since this version of Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond, is currently deceased. The fact that Aquaman has no facial features does bother me a little bit, but it works. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing which characters will be included in DC’s Blammoids Series 2! Maybe we'll get a Zatanna, Mr. Terrific or even a Jack Knight Starman.

DC Comics Blammoids! Series 1 Vinyl Figures - The Joker and Aquaman Blammoids
Blammoids Series 1 will go on sale January 20, 2010, with each figure retailing for around $10.

Barneyism of the Week - Barney ♥'s Robin

Oh my god, you just did it again.
You just Mosby’ed me.

“What, I did not!” - Robin

You did, you little minx!

“Oh, ok you’re right I did just Mosby you.” - Robin

Why are you so afraid of giving this a chance?

“Because I am scared of how much I like you.” - Robin

Whoa, this is a bad idea.

“Uch, you’re right this is a mistake.” - Robin

Yes...NO!

“I love you.”

Lets be friends.

“Ok, friends then.” - Robin

I love you.

“Let’s get married.” - Robin

No, you’re smothering me.

“Ok, forget it.” - Robin

Arrhh!

“Arrhh!” - Robin

<kissing ensues>

You know what? We can sort this out later.

How I Met Your Mother - Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson and Cobie Smulders as Robin Scherbatsky In Bed The Morning After Sleeping Together For The First Time

- Barney Stinson

"The Leap"

How I Met Your Mother

I’m sad to say but “The Leap” (which should have been titled "The Mosby") is the final episode to Season 4 of How I Met Your Mother. It was a great season, but unfortunately it has come to an end. It definitely didn’t answer the main question on everybody’s mind, but we did get a ton of Sarah Chalke and some legen…wait for it…dairy Barney-isms.

While HIMYM has not been officially renewed yet, no one seems particularly worried. That’s a really good thing considering the show was on the brink of cancellation just a year ago. Thankfully Ted, Barney, Robin, Marshall and Lily are off of the preverbal bubble and will be back next year for another awesome season. Hopefully Season 5 will have less real life pregnancies (meaning less horrible prop placement) and more Slap Bets, Robin Sparkles and of course goats! Till next year...

MattyCollector.com Exclusive JLU Legion of Super Heroes 4 Pack

On Friday, May 15th MattyCollector.com released their latest online exclusive, the JLU Legion of Super Heroes four pack. The LSH has always been one of The Blot’s favorite DC comics and I love that we can now get Justice League Unlimited animated versions of four of the Legion’s most popular members.

MattyCollector.com Exclusive JLU Legion of Super Heroes 4 Pack
The JLU Legion of Super Heroes 4 pack includes its three founding members, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad, as well as Braniac 5. The Blot was more than a little annoyed to find out the Legion of Super Heroes cartoon was canceled after just two seasons, but the show can now live on in this new LSH 4 pack.

MattyCollector.com Exclusive JLU Legion of Super Heroes 4 Pack - Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl Action Figures
I love Mattel’s JLU toy line because of its willingness to produce animated versions of DC characters mainstream America may not be familiar with. Some might complain that the JLU line just reuses the same two or three body styles for every character and they don’t all stand up that well, but I try to look past those flaws due to the fact that Mattel has decided (for now) to stick with this toy line even though the Justice League Unlimited cartoon is no longer on the air.

MattyCollector.com Exclusive JLU Legion of Super Heroes 4 Pack - Cosmic Boy and Brainiac 5 Action Figures
Each 4 pack retails exclusively on MattyCollector.com for $30 each with a maximum order quantity of 10. What’s interesting about this latest exclusive is that all four LSH figures come individually carded but shipped together in one slip case. This is the first time you can get MattyCollector.com exclusive JLU figures packaged this way. The MattyCollector.com Exclusive JLU Legion of Super Heroes 4 Pack can be purchased here now.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Final One Sheet Movie Poster

The Blot is currently boycotting the internet after that pitiful display Kobe and the Lakers put on last night here in Houston. I can’t believe I actually thought this team was talented enough to win the NBA Championship! How they ended up with the top record in the Western Conference is anyone’s guess. While I sulk here in my office check out the final theatrical one sheet movie poster for this summer’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Final Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
I’m not as geeked up about this Transformers sequel as a lot of fans are, but I am looking forward to seeing the movie version of some of my favorite G1 Transformers. I probably won’t recognize them, but I hear Arcee and the combiner Devastator will be making their fist live action appearance in the film. Of course Arcee is red and not pink, and would it really have been too hard to make Devastator and the Constructicons green and purple like they are supposed to be!?!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen premieres in theaters nationwide on June 24, 2009.

While no one knows this new 3 inch series’ actual run size, it is expected to sell out very quickly (unlike previous 3” Dunny series Ye Olde English and Series 5). The print depicts Minosu leaving behind the massive labyrinth-like grounds of the Glorious Soaring Munk's secret mountain retreat, and he looks none too happy about it. Maybe it's the awful weather. With his armor fitted, gear packed, flag mounted and drum strapped, he's all set to go somewhere perched atop his mount, The Golden Bull.

Each “Minosu Travels” print is 16"x12" (plus 1" border on all sides), comes on fine art watercolor paper (225gs), is gold embossed and is hand numbered and signed by Huck. The print is has a limited edition run of 100 prints and will retail for $75 each on Huck's eBay store.

Where The Wild Things Are 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick Set

Medicom Toy is also releasing a Where The Wild Things Are 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick set to go along with its Where The Wild Things Are Kubrick series (similar to its Lost releases). This two figure set features a hooded Max with crown and an all black Max/Where The Wild Things Are 100% Be@rbrick.

Where The Wild Things Are 100% Kubrick and Bearbrick Figure Set by Medicom
The Where The Wild Things Are 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick set is expected to hit store shelves sometime in October 2009 to coincide with the release of the live action Where The Wild Things Are movie based on Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book of the same name. The WTWTA Kubrick/Be@rbrick set will retail for $19.99.

Where The Wild Things Are Kubrick Series

The live action Where The Wild Things Are movie comes out October 16th, 2009. That same month Medicom Toy will be releasing its Where The Wild Things Are Kubrick series. The Where The Wild Things Are Kubrick series will include Max and all seven Wild Things from Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book. I don’t know about you guys, but with all of the sculpting and details on the Wild Things Kubricks they don’t really even look like Kubrick figures anymore. Nevertheless, these will be a must get for any die hard WTWTA fan.

Where The Wild Things Are Kubrick Vinyl Figure Series by Medicom
Each Where The Wild Things Are Kubrick blind box will retail for $9.99 or you can purchase a case of 24 blind boxes on sale at Urban Collector here for $191.99. I haven’t seen any mention of this set’s ratios yet, but you can be certain some figures will be harder to get than others and I am sure Medicom has a chase or two up their sleeves. Since all of the WTWTA characters are accounted for, I am guessing any variant figures produced will be alternate colorways.

"As Fast As She Can"

How I Met Your Mother

“As Fast As She Can” featured some great scenes of the HIMYM clique at MacLaren’s bar and a handful of instant classic Barney-isms, but all in all the episode left The Blot wanting more. I can only assume it is setting up something big for Ted in How I Met Your Mother’s Season 4 finale (set to air next week). I can’t decide if they are ever going to introduce us to Ted’s future wife, but who cares when the journey there is this much fun. I figure they’re going to have to have Ted meet her by at least the show’s final episode. Until then…suit up!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Character Movie Posters

The Blot will be enjoying an extended Mother’s Day with my mom and grandmother today, so I’m going to keep this post extra short. Now that the official summer movie season has begun it look like the promotion of some of the season’s most anticipated films is kicking into high gear. Just check out these new character movie posters for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I’m not a huge fan of Starscream’s new look, but I guess he’s gotta look like every other movie version Decepticon. Does anyone else have a really hard time distinguishing between all of the grey, alien looking movie Decepticons?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Promotional Movie Standee
The 25th Anniversary of Transformers - Classic Megatron BadgeTo be honest, The Blot had no idea that today, May 8, 2009, marked the 25th Anniversary of Transformers, one of my all time favorite toy lines/comic books/cartoons. While I’m a little late to the party, Shortpacked’s David Willis was all over it. I’m not even going to pretend I understand how the date was determined, but if you’re interested in finding out the whos, whats, whens and whys head over to Shortpacked.com and read Willis’ blog entry for today on the official launch of one of Hasbro’s preeminent franchises. Custom SkullBunny Munny by Huck Gee

Coming this Friday, Huck Gee is releasing SkullBunny…a Skullhead in a bunny suit. This little cuddly lil' bunny Munny has been sitting on the backburner for a year or so while Huck tried to figure out the best way to bring him to life. Evidently they decided to take Huck Gee’s classic Skullhead character, stuff him in some fur and sew him up tight. I’m not exactly sure where SkullBunny’s Game Over hand tattoos fit into the character’s overall design, but it turned out adorable nonetheless.

SkullBunny Front & Back - A Hand Painted Custom Munny by Huck Gee
This isn’t exactly The Blot’s favorite custom Huck’s ever done, but then again it would be pretty hard to outdo his last hand painted custom vinyl figure Minosu Ushi-Oni & the Golden Bull. 10 custom hand painted, fur suited SkullBunnys were created by Huck Gee, and each comes signed, numbered and in a bunny suit like the one shown above. The SkullBunny Munnys will be sold for $650 each and go on sale Friday, May 8th at Noon PST at Huck’s eBay store.

Kidrobot - Mictlantecuhtli and Xolotl 8 Inch and 3 Inch Dunny Set and Packaging by SanerToday, Thursday May 7th, the Saner Dunny Set will briefly hit store shelves at 11 am EST. Limited to just 300 sets, Saner’s Mictlantecuhtli 8 inch Dunny & Xólotl 3 inch Dunny are going to be pretty damn near impossible to get. Since most of us will never have a chance to get our hands on these designer vinyl figures I thought I’d share some close up pics of both figures. These Aztec-influenced afterworld themed Dunnys turned out really well and would definitely go great next to my Jesse Hernandez Jaguar Warrior 8” Dunny. Oh well, what you can do. Lost - The Variable

Lost - The Variable - Jeremy Davies as Daniel FaradayWell, we all know now after watching last week’s episode of Lost that he and his fellow Losties are not in fact the variables Daniel Faraday once thought they were. As it turns out, he is just another cog in the machine that is the mysterious island’s history. As I was watching “The Variable” unfold, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine things would play out the way they did. So now the question is did Daniel Faraday’s death set into motion a series of events that will eventually save the island from the magnetic meltdown (i.e. are Jack and Kate still variables in the equation) or does Faraday’s death signify that the past cannot be changed and events on the island will play out the way they were always supposed to.

As we’ve learned more and more about Lost’s central characters over the past five years one common theme seems to pop up over and over in their back stories, they all have daddy issues. Jack, Kate, Ben, Sawyer, Locke, Hurley, Sun, Jin, Walt, Alex, Miles and even Penelope/Desmond all have significant issues with their fathers. Faraday, on the other hand, is the first character (besides arguably Kate and Claire) to have significant issues with his mother and boy does he have some issues with her now.

Lost - The Variable - Fionnula Flannagan as Eloise Hawking and Sonya Walger as Penelope WidmoreMs. Hawking has always seemed to know what is going to and supposed to happen, so there’s no chance she wasn’t aware that one day in the past she would kill her adult son. That must have been some intense guilt to be carrying around all these years. It is interesting to learn that she still pushed Faraday hard to be the best knowing all his hard work would one day lead to his death. What I really want to know is why, why not try to change things. Is she so resigned to the fact that the past and/or the future cannot be changed that she would still lead her son to his eventual death to save herself, the island and its inhabitants? Why is Hawking so intent to save the island when she obviously chose to leave it (unless of course she exiled by force similar to Charles Widmore).

Lost - The Variable - Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday and Ken Leung as Miles StraumeFor the longest time I thought Widmore might be Faraday’s father, but when it was revealed that Hawking and Widmore were both former Others and Widmore was funding Faraday’s experiments, I dropped that theory figuring Widmore was just using Faraday’s research to eventually reclaim the island. But all became clear when Widmore and Hawking had that final discussion outside the hospital. It wasn’t shocking to learn Widmore was Faraday’s father, but it does make the relationship between Hawking and Widmore that much more interesting. I’m still trying to fit all the pieces together and figure out the chain events.

Obviously Penny is older so Hawking and Widmore’s affair must have started after she left the island, but why would she leave a place she loves so much and obviously wants to find again? Also, why didn't Widmore just go to Hawking in the first place to find the location of the island. There must be some bad blood between these two characters, chiefly being that he was so willing to sacrifice their son for the good of the island and to fulfill his personal agenda.

Lost - The Variable - Matthew Fox as Jack Shephard, Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen & Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday
What will be really interesting to me is finding out what role the Losties will ultimately play in all of this. There is obviously a reason the island needed the Oceanic 6 to return and why they (and Sawyer, Juliette, Miles and Jin) had to go into the past. I assume we’ll find it all out by season’s end, which sadly is just in a couple of weeks.

One parting shot that has gotten a lot of discussion online recently is the significance of Faraday’s leather bound journal. We learned in one of last week's flashbacks that it was a graduation gift from his mother, but we’ve also seen it pop other places. Earlier this season it was found in “current time” in one of The Other’s abandoned offices, and after getting a good look at it last week it looks just like the journal of the first mate of the Black Rock which Widmore purchased at auction back in “The Constant.” If this were true things would really be coming full circle considering “The Constant” was a pivotal episode for Faraday, Desmond and Widmore. The Blot’s still trying to find some pictures to confirm this, but when I do I will be sure to post them online.

Lost - The Variable - Matthew Fox as Jack Shephard, Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen, Jorge Garcia as Hurley Reyes, Josh Holloway as James Sawyer Ford, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin Kwon & Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet Burke
Tonight’s episode is “Follow The Leader” and it looks to be another great one. I expect at some point tonight for Miles to have a long talk with his father, which will eventually lead to the exodus of many members of the Dharma Initiative from the island including baby Miles and a young Charlotte Lewis. The official teaser for tonight’s episode reads: “Jack and Kate are at odds over the direction to take to save their fellow island survivors, and Locke further solidifies his stance as leader of the Others.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra Official Full Length Trailer

The Blot’s been ragging on G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra ever since I saw the very first photo of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander. The movie’s teaser trailer didn’t do much to help put my mind at ease, but then yesterday I saw G.I. Joe’s first official full length movie trailer. Now I’m not saying Rise of Cobra is going to be great (or even good for that matter), but I can now at least see it has the potential to be a legit summer blockbuster and fill the need many of us have for some mindless entertainment with lots of action and explosions.

Do you know what I liked most about this new G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra trailer? There wasn’t a single scene featuring Cobra Commander. My recommendation to G.I. Joe director Stephen Sommers, focus more on Destro and the Baroness and cut Cobra Commander’s screen time in half. Even without the mask, Christopher Eccleston seems to exude Destro’s confidence and bravado. So thankfully that's one less concern I have to worry about. I am now trying to be cautiously optimistic, but I still have serious concerns that this film will end up a huge flop. The Blot's waited 25 years for the first ever live action adaptation of my all time favorite toy line and I really hope Hasbro and Paramount don’t screw it up!

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra deploys into theaters on Friday, August 7th, 2009.

How I Met Your Mother

While The Blot really, really wants to talk about last night’s surprise ending to How I Met Your Mother, I know there are probably a lot of people out there who still haven’t seen it yet (aren’t DVRs great?). In order not to spoil the ending to “Right Place Right Time,” The Blot will instead talk about my brand new How I Met Your Mother Barney Stinson talking bobble head!

The How I Met Your Mother Barney Stinson Talking Bobble Head

I’d share those sayings with all of you, but I don’t want to make you even more jealous than you already are!

I have no clue if CBS has given out all 500 of the Barney Stinson talking bobble heads it allotted for this giveaway, but if you want one it couldn’t hurt emailing media.intern@cbs.com to see if they have any more. X-Men Origins: Wolverine Slashes Its Way To An $87 Million Opening Weekend

Despite concerns by 20th Century Fox over the leaking of an unfinished copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine just a few weeks ago, the prequel to Fox’s hugely successful X-Men franchise came up smelling like roses with a solid opening weekend. Not only did the Hugh Jackman starring film bring in $87 million domestically, it also made an additional $73 million internationally for a grand total $160 million worldwide gross. (link) Wolverine now boasts 20th Century Fox’s highest grossing opening weekend for a film released on a non-holiday weekend. When you take into consideration that the potential new franchise was “best by cyber-pirates, cranky critics and even the threat of a global pandemic,” the weekend tally ended up being quite remarkable. (link)

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Final Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
It’s amazing how quickly a movie can go from being considered one of the surefire blockbusters of the summer to a colossal flop. Less than a year ago fans were ecstatic to hear Jackman would be reprising his role as “the best there is at what he does,” but once the film leaked and the first reviews started coming in Wolverine became persona non grada. Even with the mildly negative press The Blot still wanted to see Wolverine this past weekend, but everyone else seemed uninterested in the film anymore. In fact, it was hard finding anyone excited about Wolverine’s impending opening. I think this lowering of expectations actually helped the movie, because by the time I saw Wolverine on Sunday afternoon the theater was packed and everyone seemed to have really enjoyed it.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Cast Photo - Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Live Schreiber as Sabretooth & Lynn Collins as Silver Fox
I did have a few problems with the liberties the film took with Logan’s back story and the handling of one of comicdom’s favorite mutants, the merc with a mouth Deadpool, but the film did prove to be thoroughly entertaining. Even my girlfriend Aly (who doesn’t like comic books or their live action adaptations) liked Wolverine. In some ways it helps not knowing these characters “true” back stories. The worst part of film for me came at the very end, but I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you haven’t seen it yet.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Teaser Image
If you want a humorous take on the ridiculous way X-Men Origins: Wolverine tied up one of its many loose ends to close the movie, head over to Matt Moylan’s Lil Formers for a great movie Wolverine webcomic. Moylan’s views of the film are very similar to my own, but he says much more succinctly. Whether you love or hate Fox’s take on Marvel’s merry mutant, after this past weekend it looks like we can expect many more X-Men and Wolverine films in the very near future. Next up, if all goes according to plan, is X-Men Origins: Magneto.

Universal Bunny 9 Inch Custom Qee by FOOX

Universal Bunny Custom Qee Sarcofaguss Packaging by FooxFOOX, designer of the upcoming Organ Donors blind box series, debuted an awesome looking hand painted custom 9” Qee entitled Universal Bunny on the FOOX-U.com blog last week and The Blot wanted to make sure everyone got a look at it! Created for a show at LA’s Munky King, the Universal Bunny and its hand painted Sarcofaguss packaging is incredibly detailed and features some seriously profound symbolism.

Universal Bunny 9 Inch Custom Qee and Sarcofaguss Packaging by Foox
Since The Blot wouldn’t dare try to interpret the meaning behind FOOX’s Universal Bunny Qee, I thought it best to find out more from the man himself. According to FOOX, the artwork on his Universal Bunny symbolizes that “life as we know it is wrong. We are not separate from nature. We are not separate from God. Yes we are man, but no there is no division between any of these things. Nature is God is man is nature. That just like a head can’t be without a body, so too does man need to be one with god and nature. Simply put we are the system and we are the universe.” (link) Pretty deep stuff huh!?!
