Fanboys In Theaters Tomorrow, Friday February 6th

Fanboys everywhere rejoice! The movie we’ve all been waiting for will finally debut in theaters tomorrow. It’s been a really long time coming, but Fanboys has successfully escaped from the clutches of the evil Weinstein Company and will begin screening in select theaters across America in a matter of hours.

Sadly, even though Fanboys has gotten out of post-production purgatory, The Weinstein Co. is still only giving it a limited nationwide release. This means unless you live in one of a handful of major cities you’re probably going to have to wait to see Fanboys until it’s released on DVD.

The cities where Fanboys will be playing starting tomorrow are Austin, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. Thankfully, The Blot lives in one of these 8 cities and you can rest assured I’ll be seeing the film this weekend to help boost Fanboys’ opening weekend box office. If you also live in one of the cities above check your local movie listings and make sure you go out this weekend to support the little movie could.

George Clooney Returns To ER

ER LogoThe Blot has heard some crazy ER rumors for the past few weeks and surprisingly they’ve all turned true! The biggest surprise of all has to be that Mr. Hollywood himself George Clooney has agreed to return to the show that made him a star. (link) According to E!’s Kristin Dos Santos, NBC has also lined up a very special guest star for Clooney’s return to County General, Susan Sarandon. (link)

ER Guest Stars For Season 15 - Susan Sarandon and George Clooney
I’m pretty excited to see how they explain Dr. Doug Ross’ (a.k.a. Clooney) return to the Chicago hospital he called home for 108 episodes, and if Julianna Margulies’ Nurse Carol Hathaway will return in the same episode. According to reports, the ER episode featuring Clooney and Sarandon “will air toward the end of the current final season.” (link)

What’s even better is that due to the success of ER’s final season NBC has decided to extend “the season’s run by three extra episodes,” meaning the series finale will now air on Thursday, April 2, 2009. (link) The ER series finale will be preceded by a one hour retrospective featuring interview’s from the cast and clips from the show’s 15 seasons. As a life long fan of the NBC drama this is music to The Blot’s ears.

ER airs Thursdays on NBC at 10/9c.

New X-Men Origins: Wolverine Teaser Movie Poster

While The Blot is more of a DC guy, I can still appreciate what Wolverine has done for the comic book industry. I’ve long followed the exploits of everyone’s favorite member of the X-Men, and it really amazes me what a great job Hugh Jackman has done adapting such a diverse character to the silver screen. Jackman has proven throughout the X-Men trilogy to be able to perfectly channel Logan’s emotions and intensity, which has me really excited for the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Second Teaser Movie Poster
While we’re still 84 days away from the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Jackman will be front and center for the world to see as the host of the 81st Annual Academy Awards very soon (on Sunday, on February 22nd to be exact). I am interested in seeing if his hosting duties will help or hurt the X-Men prequel movie’s opening.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine slashes into theaters on May 1, 2009.
