Lost - Whatever Happened, Happened

Lost - Whatever Happened, Happened - Evangeline Lilly as Kate AustenIt’s weird, The Blot really liked last week’s Lost episode “Whatever Happened, Happened,” but it seems to have gotten some seriously mixed reviews online. Some people are saying it was Evangeline Lilly’s signature episode and one that should net her her first Emmy nomination, while others were complaining the episode was boring and hard to sit through. I can see both sides of the argument, but It’s hard to complain when the show gives us such interesting background info on two of The Blot’s favorite characters, Kate and Ben.

Lost - Whatever Happened, Happened - Evangeline Lilly as Kate AustenWe have now learned why all of the Oceanic 6 ultimately decided to board the plane and return to the island except Hurley. I can only imagine we’ll learn his rationale either this week or next. As for Kate, I was pretty shocked to learn she returned Aaron to his maternal Grandmother and shocked to see how relatively well Claire’s mother took the news that Claire was still alive and Aaron was her grandson. That’s some pretty crazy news for anyone to handle, and especially so for someone still grieving the loss of a child. Plus, she also had to take in the news that everything the Oceanic 6 told the world about their airplane crash was a lie.

Lost - Whatever Happened, Happened - Jorge Garcia as Hurley Reyes & Ken Leung as Miles StraumeWas anyone else surprised to learn what loose lips Kate has? Kate has now shared the truth of what happened to the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 with both Claire’s mother and Cassidy, the mother of Sawyer’s daughter Clementine. That seems pretty out of character for Kate and a huge risk for someone trying to keep Aaron out of danger. But, I can only imagine how hard it was for Kate to re-assimilate and maybe she needed to be able to trust someone to help her get through the guilt of leaving Sawyer and the others behind. Either way, it was nice meeting Sawyer’s daughter and seeing Kate and Cassidy reconnect after their earlier partnership prior to Kate’s crash landing on the island.

Lost - Whatever Happened, Happened - Ken Leung as Miles Straume & Jorge Garcia as Hurley ReyesMy favorite scene by far was the discussion between Hurley and Miles on the effects of time travel on the present/future. What was great about it is that both characters were saying exactly what so many Lost fans have been thinking! It was like our online debates made it onto the show. After talking to a few friends and re-watching the scene I think ultimately Miles was right in his theory on time travel and their ability to change the future. In fact, Jack pretty much proved Miles point by not attempting to save Ben’s life. Where Hurley ultimately stumped Miles was his question concerning why Ben didn’t recognize Sayid when they originally met in the hatch during Season 2, but thankfully we the audience now know this was because of whatever Richard Alpert does to Ben to save his life.

Speaking of which, I was excited to see some of my previous theories proven somewhat true last week. With that being said I have no idea where Ben Linus’ story goes from here. What could Richard possibly to do to him down in the temple to save his life? It seems pretty sketchy to me! I also can’t get over Sawyer’s ability to negotiate with the Others, where was that in Season 1 and 2? Walt could have really used it!

Lost - Whatever Happened, Happened - Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen, Jorge Garcia as Hurley Reyes, Josh Holloway as James Sawyer Ford & Ken Leung as Miles Straume
Tonight’s episode sounds amazing, so I’m going to end this week’s Lost episode recap with the official teaser for this week’s episode: To atone for sins of the past, Ben must attempt to summon the smoke monster in order to be judged. Wow, we get a Ben focused episode with smoke monster implications! It should be a killer episode indeed.

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen - First Look at Ravage & The Doctor

Last week USA Today had a great article on Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen, which included a list of all of the characters set to make their big screen debut in this summer’s hotly anticipated sequel. (link) While director Michael Bay decided to focus on a small group of Autobots and Decepticons in 2007’s Transformers, he has decided to expand the Transformers Movie Universe exponentially this time around, cramming as many new characters in as possible. One such new character is a familiar face fans have been demanding to see since a live adaptation of Transformers was first announced, Ravage!

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen - Ravage
Ravage, as seen above, isn’t exactly the cute little cassette tape/jaguar we all remember. He’s still a cat like creature, but surprisingly he has no alternate mode. Seems an odd decision considering he’s a “transformer.” Thankfully like in all things Transformers, where ever Ravage roams Soundwave is never too far away. The beloved Decepticon Communications Officer will also be making his feature film debut, albeit with one big change. Instead of a tape player he will take the “form of an orbiting space satellite.” (link)

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen - The DoctorOther long time Transformers characters set to make their debut in this summer’s Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen include Autobots Jetfire, Sideswipe, Jolt, Skids, Mudflap and longtime fan favorite (and one of the very few female Transformers) Arcee. On the Decepticon side you can look forward to seeing The Fallen, the Insecticons, Demolisher, the Constructicons (and their combiner Devastator), and a scary new “spider like droid” named The Doctor (link)

Transformers Generation 1 Animated Cartoon - WheelieThe article also mentions another new Decepticon who goes by the name of Wheelie. Now The Blot has some seriously mixed emotions on this announcement, because Wheelie was one of my all time favorite Autobots as a kid. I know a lot of die hard TF fans hated the annoying little guy for his rhyming, trustly slingshot and childlike glee, but I loved his futuristic looking alt mode and color scheme. Hopefully fans' hatred of this late Generation 1 character didn’t lead to his being rebranded a Decepticon. I’m holding out hope it’s just a misprint. Either way, I’m glad to hear a secondary character like Wheelie made it into the movie at all!

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen opens in theaters on June 24, 2009.

OBEY Giant - Obey Elephant Print by Shepard Fairey

OBEY Giant Black Label 20th Anniversary Series Skate Deck designed by Shepard FaireyOBEY is definitely bringing it in ’09 with another awesome print. This week’s release, “Obey Elephant,” is a gorgeous print and one OBEY collectors have been hoping to see produced for a while now. Based on a skateboard deck designed by Shep as a part of the Black Label 20th Anniversary Series, Obey Elephant appears to be ripe with allegories to world peace, something we could all use a little more of. Considering how popular the skate deck’s design was I am going to assume this print will be highly sought after and extremely hard to get.

OBEY Giant - Obey Elephant by Shepard Fairey
Fairey will be releasing the Obey Elephant print on the OBEY Giant online store at a random time on Thursday, April 9, 2009. The limited edition signed and numbered print will probably be an 18”x24” screenprint with an edition size of 450 and a price of around $45.
