SDCC 09 Exclusive Pink Edition Darth Vader Helmet Bust by Gentle Giant

People may snicker, but this is one of the San Diego Comic Con exclusives I have been looking forward to the most, and mainly because a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this pink Darth Vader Helmet Bust will go to charity! How cool is that? To help find a cure for breast cancer, Gentle Giant has given the classic Darth Vader helmet a new pink paint job for San Diego Comic Con 2009.


For every pink Darth Vader helmet sold from July 1 - July 26, 2009, Gentle Giant Ltd. will donate 10% of the retail sales price to Susan G. Komen for the Cure with a minimum guaranteed donation of $5,000, in support of Komen's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever. This donation will go towards research as well as education in hopes that a cure can be found. For this reason alone The Blot is planning on purchasing this girly looking Star Wars replica of the Dark Lord of the Sith’s trademark helmet.

Gentle Giant’s San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusive Pink Edition 8 inch Darth Vader Helmet Bust has a limited edition run size of 1644 and will be sold at the Con for either $60 or $65 each (I can’t figure out the exact price yet). San Diego Comic Con 2009 Official Exclusives List

I just wanted to let everyone know that the official San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusives list is up at Comic-Con.org. It’s got a good mixture of all different kinds of exclusives including comic books, statues, busts, toys, action figures, designer vinyl figures, t-shirts, artwork, posters and lithographs. It is by no means a complete list, but it is a good starting point for those of you trying to figure out what exclusives you’ve got to get (or have gotten for you) from SDCC 09. Some listings include the item’s price and production run, but of course many exclusives’ details are still unknown. Happy hunting everyone!

Dragon Scout Vinyl Toy by Amanda Visell

With all the San Diego Comic Con coverage here on The Blot Says…, I haven’t given the proper coverage to some great vinyl figures that have been recently released. At the top of that list is this awesome set from Amanda Visell. Produced by Switcheroo!, the 7 inch Dragon Scout vinyl toy is a great 3D representation of Visell’s unique art style and each figure comes with a matching Girl Scout and fire.


The green Dragon Scout is the figure’s OG colorway and features a swallowed Girl Scout, while the blue Dragon Scout is a Switcheroo! exclusive and features a swallowed Boy Scout. The green Dragon Scout has a production run of 600 figures and retails for $65 each, and the Switcheroo! exclusive blue Dragon Scout has a limited edition run size of 300 figures and retails for $75 each.


Both versions of Amanda Visell’s Dragon Scout vinyl figures are currently available directly from Switcheroo! at the company’s online store. The blue Dragon Scout will only be available at Switcheroo.com, but the green Dragon Scout should be available now everywhere that sells designer vinyl. The one benefit to buying the Dragon Scout figure directly from Switcheroo! is that every figure’s box comes signed by Ms. Visell.
