The Lost Underground Art Project Opens Tonight

Everyone involved with the Lost Underground Art Project (opening tonight at Gallery 1988) has been so tightlipped, The Blot’s been unable to find out any additional details about the show other than what was announced on the event’s official flyer. Thankfully, the same can’t be said for the great art website Arrested Motion! Yesterday, AM debuted the beautiful Lost themed mixed media painting below created by Edwin Ushiro for the Lost Underground Art Project.

The Lost Underground Art Project - Unnamed Lost Mixed Media Painting by Edwin Ushiro
The unnamed piece above by Edwin Ushiro features Hurley, Sun, Sawyer, Jin, Michael, Jack, Sayid and Locke wondering through the island’s dense jungle in search of...something. After seeing this amazing Lost artwork, The Blot is even more excited for tonight’s opening. If only I could be there in person! According to the Gallery 1988 website, the entire exhibition will be put on its website after the show's opening (hopefully by Wednesday).

Threadless - The Simpsons Themed T-Shirt “Springfield Still Life”

The Blot is in a state of pop culture euphoria thanks to the fine folks at Threadless. Yesterday, the t-shirt company released a Simpsons themed tee entitled “Springfield Still Life,” and it’s absolutely perfect. In fact, “Springfield Still Life” might have just passed “Dark Side of the Garden” as my all time favorite Threadless tee.

The shirt looks like a sofa scene at the end of The Simpsons’ opening credits, and transforms each member of the family into an inanimate object. The artist, Alvaro Arteaga Sabaini, did a great job making it obvious which character is which inanimate object without overdoing it (i.e. no passifier for Maggie’s star pillow). The firecrackers in Bart’s paper bag are also a nice touch.

You can purchase The Simpsons themed “Springfield Still Life” t-shirt at Threadless.com on sale for just $10 all this week (normally it’s $18). The shirt comes in both guys and girls styles, sizes S-3XL.

Barneyism of the Week - Smoking

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,

I am not a smoker.

I only smoke in certain situations:

Postcoital, when I’m with Germans,
sometimes those two overlap,
coital, birthdays, to annoy my mom,
precoital, on a sailboat,
the day the Mets are mathmatically eliminated every year,
and, ofcourse, wait for it, cuz lord knows I have,
preganacy scares.

“Why are you smoking right now?” - Ted

I’m always precoital, Ted.
