DC Direct Blackest Night Black Lantern Mongul Deluxe Action Figure

And the Blackest Night actions figures just keep on coming! The Blot’s been super impressed with DC Direct’s line of Blackest Night figures so far, but the deluxe Black Lantern Mongul action figure is a big disappointment. As a character, I’ve really enjoyed Mongul’s part in the overall Blackest Night storyline, but this figure looks like just a weak repaint of a previously released toy.


DC Direct has set the bar so high with its previously released Black Lantern figures, I expect so more from a Black Lantern Mongul figure. Plus, shouldn’t he look like much more of a zombie? Maybe this figure is story accurate and I just don’t realize it yet, but either way it looks like they just slapped a Black Lantern logo on their previously released Mongul figure. I really hope this is just a preliminary mark-up and not the final product.

DC Direct Blackest Night Wave 5 Action Figures including Black Lantern Batman

It’s official, DC Direct’s Blackest Night Wave 5 includes some of The Blot’s favorite action figures of all time. Just look at each figure’s amazing details and "killer" accessories. I really hope DC Direct realizes the popularity of these figures, and decide to continue their Blackest Night line of action figures with at least one or two more waves.



This fifth series of action figures, based on the hugely popular Blackest Night event, includes Nekron, the Lord of the Unliving; Black Lantern Hawkman, the winged warrior who joins the Black Lanterns after falling victim to them; Black Lantern Deadman, the ghost hero who's tormented by voices of the dead; and the previously unseen Black Lantern Batman, who, in death, is as susceptible to the Black Lantern Corps as anyone.



Blackest Night Wave 5 action figures by DC Direct feature multiple points of articulation and come packaged in a 4-color clamshell blister card. Each figure also includes a display base and character-appropriate accessories. Blackest Night Wave 5 is scheduled to go on sale August 4, 2010.

The New Simpsons 20th Anniversary Poster

To commemorate the release of The Simpson’s landmark 20th season, FOX has released the incredibly comprehensive cast poster seen below. The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Poster builds upon a similar image in 2007’s The Simpsons Movie, and now encompasses even more characters from the series than ever before. (link) The Blot can still remember watching the very first episode of The Simpsons oh so many years ago, which makes it really scary that we’re currently in the show’s 20th season.
