Battlestar Galactica: The Plan Television Movie Premieres on Syfy This Sunday, Jan 10th

Please excuse the following rant, but did anyone else NOT know that the made for television movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan was set to premiere this Sunday, January 9th, on Syfy!?! I know this “movie” was released on DVD months ago, but The Blot, like most BSG fans, chose to wait to watch it until the 2 hour special debuted on TV. Now that the series is over, The Blot isn’t really following Battlestar Galactica news or watching Syfy, but shouldn’t more fans have known The Plan was going to air THIS Sunday!? Seems like poor marketing by Syfy, doesn’t it?

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan on Syfy
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan DVD CoverNot only is it bad marketing, but it also seems like horrible scheduling to The Blot. The channel formerly known as Sci-Fi could have aired this BSG special anytime in the last three weeks without any competition while most shows were on hiatus, but they chose to air it the same night as the season premieres of Chuck and Big Love (not to mention new episodes from Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters). I know most of you are thinking so what, the show’s already ended and has a totally different audience than most of the aforementioned shows. But in reality this movie should be acting as a springboard to Syfy’s new show, Caprica.

Now I have to figure what show I’m actually going to watch live on Sunday, Chuck, Big Love or The Plan. Thankfully, the Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan has made my decision a little easier by describing The Plan as feeling “like a two-hour ‘previously on Battlestar Galactica.’” (link) Ryan is as big of a BSG fan as they come, and if she’s underwhelmed by The Plan then I’ve got a feeling I will be too. It’s really too bad, because I had high hopes for a BSG project written by Jane Espenson and directed by Edward James Olmos (who also plays Admiral William Adama in the movie).

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan’s world television premiere is scheduled for Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 9/8c on Syfy.

The Faded Line - Limited Edition Metal Prints and Puzzles by Brad Klausen & Emek

The Faded Line has two very cool releases dropping this week that I thought readers of The Blot Says… might enjoy, especially all the Pearl Jam fans out there! Brad Klausen, known for his amazing PJ rock concert posters, recently joined The Faded Line’s stable of artists (which includes Emek, Todd Slater & Jeff Wood). Klausen’s first two releases with The Faded Line features the Reaper from his 2006 Pearl Jam DC concert poster and they look pretty damn sweet!

The Faded Line Limited Edition Jigsaw Puzzles - Cloak and Veil by Brad Klausen
First up is a set of three limited edition jigsaw puzzles. The three images, “Cloak and Veil” by Brad Klausen and “Cybercycle” and “Cyberman” by Emek, have been seen on posters for Pearl Jam, Built To Spill and Tool. The puzzles are signed and numbered, screen printed editions of 170 and measure 15" x 21.25". Each limited edition puzzle will retail for $35, and due to demand only 1 puzzle will be sold per household.

In conjunction with the puzzle sale, The Faded Line will also be selling extremely limited edition metal prints of the same three images above. In order to purchase one of these metal prints, customers must order a puzzle first and then check a box during checkout which puts them into a random drawing for the right to purchase a metal print. Each 18”x24” metal print is limited to 60 pieces, comes signed and numbered by the artist, and will retail for $200.

One puzzle will go on sale each day at 3pm Mountain starting Thurs 1/7 through Sat 1/9 exclusively at www.thefadedline.com. Because this is a Faded Line exclusive, the artists will not have inventory to sell at a later date.

Big Love Season 4 Television Poster and Sunday Season Premiere on HBO

The second season premiere air this Sunday that The Blot has been anxiously awaiting for is HBO’s Big Love. While I love HBO’s programming, it’s been almost a full year since the show’s third season ended, and that is way too long for both diehard fans and casual viewers to wait! I’ve got to imagine viewership is hurt significantly by these extended layoffs, but when a show is as good as Big Love, who cares!

Big Love Season 4 Television Poster - Hold Tight
Season 3 ended with so many crazy cliffhangers I’m not even sure which storyline I want the writers and producers of Big Love to address first (Bill vs. Alby; Joey vs. Roman; The Casinos; Niki’s mysterious first family; the tension between Margene and Ben; and of course Sarah’s marriage). Regardless, I’ve got a feeling life for the Henrickson clan in Utah will not be getting any easier any time soon.

Exclusive Dunny Fatale KLOR Case Colorway

Yesterday, Kidrobot announced a special promotion tied to the release of the Dunny Fatale Series scheduled to drop on January 28th. (link) Any fan who purchases a sealed case of Dunny Fatale from a Kidrobot store or select retailer is eligible to receive an exclusive colorway of the 3 inch KLOR Dunny (while supplies last and limited to 1 Dunny per customer). It looks like the standard/common KLOR Dunny is black and white, while this exclusive “case colorway giveaway" is yellow, blue & pink. To see the complete list of participating retailers click here!

Exclusive 3 Inch Dunny Fatale Series KLOR Colorway
The Blot will of course be at Domy Books here in Houston on the 28th for the release of KR’s latest series of 3” mini-figures. While I think this is a great idea and the giveaway will definitely help increase the sale of sealed cases, in no way does this 3 inch figure (limited to just 500 pieces) increase the likelihood I will purchase a case of the Dunny Fatale Series. I think I’m sticking solely to blind boxes and/or trades with this series as the Dunnys Fatale vinyl figures I want (Amanda Visell, Kathie Olivas, Tara McPherson and Julie West's) are all extremely common.
