EW.com - LOST: Exclusive Portraits of the Dead

Entertainment Weekly: LOST Portraits of the Dead - Elizabeth Mitchell as Dr. Juliet Burke
Entertainment Weekly had a very cool article in last week’s collector’s edition LOST issue in which they interviewed actors whose characters had been killed on LOST. As a follow up to that article, EW.com is now featuring an article entitled LOST: 9 Exclusive Portraits of the Dead.

Black Dissected Companion Be@rbrick by Kaws

The third and final colorway of the Medicom x Kaws Dissected Companion Be@rbrick is out, and this is definitely my favorite version of the three. Similar to the two previous colorways (seen here and here), the Black Dissected Be@rbrick is being released in three sizes, 100%, 400% and 1000%, with the 100% and 400% Be@rbricks only sold as a two figure set.

Medicom x Original Fake Kaws Black Dissected Companion 100%, 400% & 1000% Bearbrick Vinyl Figures
I can’t figure out if Medicom just made more of Kaws’ Black Dissected Companion Be@rbricks or if the popularity of these figures has waned, but the figures have been out a while and yet they’re still available at retail. I remember thinking the same thing about the Mono Dissected Companion Be@rbricks too, so maybe it’s all in my head!

The 1000% Black Dissected Be@rbrick by Kaws sells for $399.99, while the 100% and 400% Be@rbrick set retails for $179.99.

Obey Giant - Keith Haring Canvas Print by Shepard Fairey

Legendary NYC street artist Keith Haring has been immortalized in Shepard Fairey’s trademark style, and while not perfect, The Blot really likes it. The Keith Haring Canvas Print is a nice mix of Shep’s stencil art with Haring’s graffiti, although I wouldn’t have minded more of Haring’s artwork in the background. Thankfully, Fairey at least included Haring’s Radiant Baby.

Obey Giant - Keith Haring Canvas Screen Print by Shepard Fairey
Growing up, Haring, along with Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, were the holy trinity of pop art to me, and their works continue to influence my pop culture identity today. Because of that, it’s really cool to see the styles of two influential pop artists from the 80’s and 00’s collide in this print.

The Keith Haring Canvas Print by Shepard Fairey is a signed and numbered 18”x 24″ screen print with an edition size of 450 prints. This print goes on sale today, Thursday, May 20th at a random time at the Obey Giant online store. A portion of all sales of this print will go to the Keith Haring Foundation and Photographer Patrick McMullan.

Lost Season 6 Screen Print #5 - Jacob and the Man In Black by Jeff Soto

The fifth print in the new LOST Season 6 screen print series by Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear is “Jacob and the Man In Black” by Jeff Soto. This has got to be hands down the most controversial of the LOST screen prints released so far.

While Soto is a big name in the world of art (and he’s released some killer vinyl figures as well), his design has not won over the LOST community. But, I think many LOST fans were swayed when Soto explained the meaning behind the skull on his blog (link). He stated it is the smashed in skull of Claudia, the biological mother of Jacob and the Man In Black. I think it’s pretty cool piece when you see the symbolism behind it…how the twins grew out of Claudia’s life and subsequent death.
