DC Universe Classics Starman Jack Knight Action Figure

It’s pretty rare for The Blot to get really excited over an action figure, but it happened last week when Mattel announced the characters included in DC Universe Classics Wave 15. Not only does Wave 15 include the Martian Manhunter, Jemm, OMAC and the Golden Pharaoh (from DC's Super Powers), but it also includes one of my all time favorite super heroes, Starman Jack Knight!

DC Universe Classics Series 15 - Classic Starman Ted Knight and Modern Starman Jack Knight Action Figures
James Robinson and Tony Harris’ DC comic book Starman ran for 81 issues in the 90’s and quickly became one of my all time favorite books. To me, it personifies what a great comic book should be, and I can’t recommend it enough to both comic book fans and those who’ve never read an issue. You can pre-order the Jack Knight action figure as a two figure Starman set from Entertainment Earth (Jack comes with his father, the Classic Starman Ted Knight) here for $33.99. The figures are scheduled to ship in August 2010.

DC Universe Classics Series 15 Action Figures - Martian Manhunter, Jemm, Sinestro Corps Batman, Golden Pharaoh, OMAC, Classic Starman Ted Knight, Moder Starman Jack Knight, Raven and Build-A-Figure Validus
The Classic Starman Ted Knight action figure, the traditional version of Starman, comes equipped with his Cosmic Rod and a Stellar Energy Pistol. The Modern Starman Jack Knight action figure, comes with his trusty Cosmic Rod and features contemporary translucent parts.

Collectors can expect DCUC Wave 15 action figures to begin showing up at retailers this summer. These figures will first appear at Kmart in late August/early September, then retailers everywhere in the fall.

SDCC 2010 Exclusive Starfleet IWG Figures by Rocket World

We’re still almost two months away from San Diego Comic-Con 2010, and already Rocket World has unveiled what might prove to be The Blot’s favorite SDCC exclusive, Starfleet IWG! Rocket World’s I.W.G. (Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo) have officially joined Starfleet with this officially licensed project from CBS/Paramount Studios. Starfleet IWG takes IWG animals and re-imagines them as characters from Star Trek: The Original Series.

Starfleet IWG includes three characters, Lt. Commander Hannibal, Capt. Titus and Commander Affonso, each of which comes with accurately reproduced Star Trek TOS accessories. Those accessories include a cloth uniform, a Tribble, a Phaser, a Communicator and a Tricorder. Starfleet IWG is a serialized edition, with each figure being limited to just 300 pieces.

Rocket World was founded in 2001 by artist and designer Patrick York Ma. Melding his love for animals, character design and underscored by his dissatisfaction with the current natural world order, Rocket World burst onto the nascent collectable “designer vinyl” scene in 2002 with the I.W.G. The I.W.G. are a feisty and rebellious underground group of self-aware animals who were given sentience by a group of mysterious alien beings. The I.W.G. have organized and taken up arms to fight against any humans that have killed, exploited their kind and/or polluted their habitats. The I.W.G. are cute yet decidedly deadly, and their narrative can be described as Che meets Animal Farm with a dash of pulp science fiction thrown in for good measure.

Have you seen the newest full length movie trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World yet? If not, what in the hell are you waiting for!?! Not only is it freaking awesome, but it blows the previous Scott Pilgrim trailer out of the water. The 2:32 minute clip below is filled to the brim with pop culture goodness, and I’m still enjoying it even after the 3rd and 4th viewings.

The Scott Pilgrim live action movie adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, premieres on August 13, 2010, while Scott Pilgrim Volume 6, Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, by Bryan Lee O’Malley hits book shelves on July 20, 2010.
