Johnny Cupcakes Summer 2010 Collection Pt. IV

The Goon Teaser Movie Poster and Concept Trailer

To be honest, I had totally forgotten there was a The Goon animated film, based on the Dark Horse comic by Eric Powell, in the works until I read a report of its San Diego Comic-Con 2010 panel. I watched the concept trailer they debuted there (see below) and was blown away by its CG animation! After that I pulled a complete 180°…from not caring enough to remember, to being really excited for the film. Then earlier this week Blur Studio released the first teaser movie poster for the film, illustrated by Eric Powell, and I knew it was time to start blogging about the upcoming movie.


I originally thought The Goon animated film would be a direct-to-video release, but according to the teaser movie poster above it will be released in theaters. That’s a pretty surprising, yet good, development. I always liked The Goon comic book, although I haven’t read it in a few years, and can’t wait to see how they translate The Goon’s story to the big screen. The Blot’s also a huge Paul Giamatti fan, so it was cool to learn he’s playing a major role in the film (as the voice of Franky).



The Goon stars Clancy Brown as the Goon and Paul Giamatti as Franky. This film does not currently have a release date scheduled.

Threadless Pop Culture Tee - Dr. Seuss x Swiss Army Knife T-Shirt “Dr. Swiss”

The Blot’s going to go out on a limb here and say this is the best mash-up Threadless has ever produced. It does a great job combining the best elements of both properties for a stellar t-shirt design. But, if I had to change anything it would be the Cat in the Hat logo on the knife handle…although I’m sure that had to be altered for copyright reasons.
