Shotpacked! by David Willis, The Blot’s favorite web comic about a toy store and the crazy people who work there, is releasing its third resin figurine with the good folks at Patch Together. After Willis’ popular Amber and Mike statues comes the Robin Desanto statue! Robin DeSanto isn't your ordinary toy store employee. When she was a toddler she was abducted by aliens and given special powers which augmented her strength, durability, and especially her speed.
Because of these powers, she worked for the government several years ago to fight the very aliens who abducted her! Oh, and she was also elected to a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. But seriously, she's mostly just a simple retail worker…who can run really fast and smells like Skittles.
The Robin Desanto Shortpacked! Statue is a 7” resin figure, and is currently available for pre-order through Patch Together’s online store here for $34.95. The preorder period for this figure ends on November 10, 2010, after that only a very small number of extra figures beyond the number preordered will be produced and sold for $39.95. So if you think you might want one be sure to preorder now!

Obey Giant POW(ER) Screen Print by Shepard Fairey
The Obey Giant “POWE(ER)” screen print by Shepard Fairey is a homage to influential pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, who appropriated and re-painted comic frames often transforming them in meaning and context. The Blot’s a huge fan of both Fairey and Lichtenstein, so you know this fusion of their two unique styles makes “POWER(ER)” a must get print for The Blot!
Fairey has often described his art as a fusion of pop art, street art, and political art. While he often utilizes the platform created by pop art, Shepard tries to take his work even more directly to the people. Like pop artists before him, Shepard Fairey utilizes a vocabulary of familiar cultural visual references. For Fairey, street art has always been about populism and emPOWERment. The recent embrace of street art in the art world as a legitimate genre demonstrates the power of accessible, relatable imagery, and in many ways builds upon the triumphs of the pop art genre.
“POW(ER)” by Shepard Fairey is an 18”x24” signed and numbered screen print, with a limited edition run size of 450 pieces. Each print will retail for $45 each and can be purchased at the Obey Giant online store at a random time today, November 4th.
