First Look: DC Universe Mini Mez-Itz Series 2 2-Packs by Mezco Toyz

Mezco Toyz unveiled its second wave of DC Universe Mini Mez-Itz vinyl figures this past weekend at Toy Fair 2011, and to say The Blot’s surprised by Series 2’s line-up would be a huge understatement! DC Universe Mini Mez-Itz Series 2 2-packs include The Flash and Captain Cold, Batman Beyond and Blight, and Doctor Fate and The Demon.

While The Flash and Captain Cold are usually included in new DC Comics toy lines early on, the addition of Batman Beyond’s Terry McGinnis and Doctor Fate is pretty shocking (don’t even get me started on Blight). I’m just worried producing such relatively unknown characters in Series 2 will hurt sales and kill off this great toy line before it can even get off the ground. The one positive note to all this is with characters like The Demon already being produced, who knows what random heroes and villains might be included in Series 3! Personally The Blot’s holding out hope for a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle 2-pack.

Mezco’s DC Universe Mini Mez-Itz vinyl figures stand 2 inches tall, feature five points of articulation and will be packaged in 2-packs together on a blister card. You can purchase each 2-pack for around $10 or all three 2-packs of Wave 2 for around $30. The release date for DC Universe Mini Mezi-Itz Series 2 has not been announced yet.

Nerdy Fresh Winter/Spring 2011 Collection

As you all know, t-shirts make up a huge part of The Blot’s wardrobe. I’m constantly on the lookout for new clothing companies with fresh designs, and what I’ve recently come to learn is there are some really amazing artists here in my home state of Texas. One of my favorite homegrown discoveries is Nerdy Fresh, an urban clothing company located in Dallas, Texas.

Nerdy Fresh puts out some killer limited edition clothing and I’m proud to say I’ve got a couple of their tees hanging in my closet. And how can you not love Sir Astro, the brand's dapper astronaut mascot who cruises through the world spreading the essence of freshness!?! Nerdy Fresh’s Winter/Spring 2011 Collection dropped today, and there’s a little something for everyone in this release: t-shirts, sweatshirts, varsity jackets and even a stylish winter beanie.

The Blot’s particularly fond of the “Le Petit Chef” sweater, which features a pink and blue cupcake with Sir Astro shaped toppings. What can I say, I love me some cupcakes! I'm also digging the design of “The Dillinger” t-shirt, which features an all too familiar animated character's hand (Mickey Mouse perhaps?).  You can see Nerdy Fresh’s entire Winter/Spring 2011 Collection here.

New Thor Full Length Movie Trailer

Of all the super heroes with movies coming out this summer, Thor is easily my least favorite. The Blot’s just never been all that into his comics. I’ve tried to like him over the years, but his stories have never been able to keep my interest long term. That’s why it’s so surprising that Thor is the comic book adaptation I’m looking forward to the most! How can you not be excited for this movie after seeing Thor’s first full length trailer above. Everything about this film looks amazing. It’s visually stunning, and I think Marvel’s unique brand of Norse mythology is made for the silver screen. This film is going to do crazy business at the theater, mark my words.

Thor premiers in theaters worldwide on May 6, 2011.
