The Incredible Hulk Inspired Мишка “The Savage Cyco” T-Shirt by Skinner

Мишка x Skinner The Incrdible Hulk Inspired “The Savage Cyco” T-Shirt

Check out one of the newest Мишка t-shirt designed by none other than Sacramento, California artist Skinner! Much like The Blot, Skinner is a huge fan old school The Incredible Hulk comic books, and you can definitely see influences of those early Hulk artists in his work. For “The Savage Cyco,” the Skinnman has created a striking homage to Jim Steranko’s classic cover of the 1968 comic King-Size Hulk Special #1 by recreating the cover and including Мишка’s Cyco Simon in the role of the Hulk.

Мишка “The Savage Cyco” T-Shirt by Skinner

As Spartak said on the Мишка blog, “the Hulk body with a Cyco Simon head looks like a match made in nerd-streetwear heaven,” and I couldn’t agree more! The Blot loves this t-shirt so much because of all the little details Skinner included in the design, like the addition of Lamour Supreme’s version of Ghost Rider in the issue box in the top left corner. Two Мишка style Marvel super heroes on one t-shirt, what more could you ask for!?!

This is such a killer t-shirt and I’ve got a feeling the design is going to be super popular due to its wide appeal to both comic book fans and streetwear aficionados. “The Savage Cyco” t-shirt by Skinner is available in black, white and purple, and can be purchased for $32 at both Мишка retail locations or at the Мишка online store. I think a purple “The Savage Cyco” t-shirt is calling The Blot’s name!

Smallville First Look: New Booster Gold & Blue Beetle Photos

While everyone else in the world is talking about the changes NBC has made to its Wonder Woman costume, The Blot wants to talk about something a little more important: the first ever images of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle from the April 22nd episode of Smallville entitled appropriately enough “Booster”. As you all know, The Blot’s a huge fan of the JLI, and Booster Gold specifically. In fact, I’d go so far as to say Booster Gold’s my favorite super hero of all time. So naturally I was super excited when news leaked a few months ago that Geoff Johns would be writing another episode of Smallville and it would feature the live action debut of Booster Gold and two different Blue Beetles (Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes).

Smallville First Look Booster Gold and Blue Beetle

This is the final season of Smallville, and the show’s creators have done an amazing giving this show a proper send off by bringing in fan favorites from the DC Universe for cameos. Never in a million years did I think we’d actually get a live action Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, but Geoff Johns has made my dreams come true! TV Guide released the first ever photo of Blue and Gold (as Booster and Beetle are affectionately referred to), and to be honest I wasn’t sure how I felt about the image. I’m still a little worried about how Smallville will pull off Jaime’s Blue Beetle armor, but after seeing these new pics of Booster Gold (via The Daily BLAM!) I’m totally sold!

Smallville First Look Eric Martsolf as Booster Gold
Click on the photo above for a more detailed look
The uniform Booster is seen wearing here is pretty much identical to the “sponsored” outfit he wore during the DC’s weekly comic book series 52. It’s not my favorite look of his, but I think it definitely does the best job of conveying what this character is all about (at least superficially). Portrayed by Days of Our Lives star Eric Martsolf, the Booster Gold we meet in “Booster” is very much "a glory-seeking showboat from the future." According to Martsolf, "the episode takes place in Booster's very early stages where he's at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He's gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts." (link) And that’s just the kind of Booster Gold I love!

According to the TV Guide article, which includes an interview with Geoff Johns, the episode will also show Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes’ origin story of how he comes to find himself merged with the mysterious high-tech Blue Beetle Scarab. The Blot’s not really a fan of Smallville, but I always make it a point to turn in when other super heroes visit the show, like the Justice League, Legion of Super Heroes or the Justice Society. But none of those episodes have gotten me nearly as excited as Smallville’s upcoming April 22nd episode.

Smallville Season 10, Episode 18 “Booster” featuring Booster Gold and Blue Beetle will air on The CW at 8/7c.

Obey Giant has announced the third screen print in Shepard Fairey’s new “Art In The Streets” series, and it’s entitled “Sunset & Vine Billboard.” The image features one of Fairey’s favorite street spots for graffiti, which as the title suggests is a billboard at the intersection of Sunset and Vine in Los Angeles.

“Sunset & Vine Billboard” by Shepard Fairey is an 18”x24″ screen print, comes signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 450 pieces. This is the third Obey Giant print from the “Art In The Streets” art show, and will retail for $45 each. The Jelly Empire x Argonaut Resins Jelly Bot Mini Resin Figure and Skateboard

If you’re like The Blot then you’ve been visiting the Argonaut Resins website every day for the past few weeks to catch little teasers of END’s 12th designer resin figure. Charlie Sheen Wacky Wobbler Talking Bobble Head by Funko

Charlie Sheen Wacky Wobbler Talking Bobble Head by Funko

You had to know it was only a matter of time until the biggest “Winner” of our lifetime was immortalized in plastic. With tiger blood pulsing through his veins and Adonis DNA, controversial actor Charlie Sheen is brought to spring-loaded life as a 7 inch tall, officially licensed, talking plastic bobble head from Funko.

The Charlie Sheen Talking Wacky Wobbler bobble head says 7 unbelievably realistic phrases, including "When you got tiger blood and Adonis DNA, man, it's like… you get with the program, dude;” "Duh, winning!" and of course The Blot’s personal favorite "I… I… I am on a drug; it's called Charlie Sheen!"

This realistic looking Charlie Sheen talking bobble head is currently available for pre-sale through Entertainment Earth for $12.99 here. This true “collector’s item” is scheduled to ship in July 2011, that is unless Charlie does something crazy (but what are the odds of that?).

Red Skull Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Head by Funko

Red Skull Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Head by Funko

For some strange reason Funko is releasing one additional Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Head in May and it’s their first villain, the evil Red Skull! The Blot’s known Funko would be releasing the Red Skull for a couple of months now, but I assumed it would be the Captain America movie version of the Red Skull released in conjunction with a movie version Captain America (similar to the previously released Thor Movie Wave). Instead, they’re just releasing the Red Skull by himself as an addition to the previously solicited Pop! Marvel Wave 1 Vinyl Figure Bobble Heads.

This seems like a weird way to release Funko’s first Marvel villain of this particular line of figures. Why not either release him as part of Wave 1 a month earlier or create an all villains Wave 2. Instead it seems like they’re trying to tie-in to this summer’s live action Captain America: The First Avenger without it being an official release. I assume if Funko could release Thor movie figures they can release Captain America figures as well. Then again, it really doesn’t matter. We’re getting a pretty awesome Red Skull vinyl figure and what will hopefully be a great Capt America film a few week later.

The Red Skull Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Head by Funko will retail for around $10 and goes on sale sometime in May 2011.

Green Lantern Movie Pop! DC Universe Vinyl Figures by Funko

Green Lantern Movie Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures - Green Lantern Hal Jordan & Sinestro

The onslaught of Green Lantern movie memorabilia is about to begin, so I hope everyone’s ready for it! Not to be left out of the GL movie madness comes this two figure set of Green Lantern Movie Pop! Heroes vinyl figures by Funko, featuring movie versions of Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Sinestro. What’s interesting is Funko’s DC toy line is now called “Pop! Heroes” instead of its original name of “Pop! DC Universe.” While I would normally think nothing of it, Funko’s Marvel line is still called “Pop! Marvel,” which makes me wonder why the change for one but not both? Is the Marvel brand really more marketable now than DC’s?

The Green Lantern Movie Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures will retail for around $10 and will hit stores sometime in June 2011. Here’s hoping the Sinestro chase variant vinyl figure comes dressed in yellow!

Red Lantern Guy Gardner Action Figure

Green Lantern Series 4 by DC Direct - Red Lantern Guy Gardner Action Figure

As you all know, The Blot’s a huge fan of DC ComicsBlackest Night storyline and its subsequent toy line by DC Direct. So while The Blot is really excited DC Direct chose to release a Red Lantern Guy Gardner, I am surprised they decided to do so as a part of its Green Lantern series of action figures instead of its Blackest Night line. Why does it matter? It probably doesn’t unless you display your figures in their packaging (which I don’t), but I just like the idea of a Red Lantern Guy released as part of the Blackest Night line. Then again, the way the DC Universe is going, pretty soon everything will be released under the banner of “Green Lantern.”

Red Lantern Guy Gardner stands 6.75" tall and comes packaged in a 4 color clamshell blister card. This rage filled figure goes on sale November 2, 2011 and will retail for around $18.

Fur Face Boy Series 4 T-Shirt Collection

Fur Face Boy Series 4 T-Shirt Collection - FFB Seal & Mega FFB T-Shirts

Fur Face Boy is in the process of retiring his fourth series of t-shirts, and The Blot thought I should highlight this awesome collection of designs before the shirts were all sold out. You see, once a FFB shirt is retired and gone, it’s gone forever. So if you see a design here you really like, you’d better head over to the Fur Face Boy online store and pick one up.

Fur Face Boy Series 4 T-Shirt Collection - FFB Lumberjack & FFB Script T-Shirts

The Blot first found out about Fur Face Boy a few months ago and I instantly fell in love with his pop culture inspired designs, especially some of his early comic book logo tees (check out Series 2 and 3 for those). What’s even cooler is FFB is a fellow Texan who’s located in Dallas. There’s definitely a little something for everyone in Series 4, which includes a Mickey Mouse inspired FFB design, a Nirvana tribute tee and a t-shirt featuring Mega Man Fur Face Boy style!

Fur Face Boy Series 4 T-Shirt Collection - Classic FFB & Angel Bear Mai T-Shirts

The Blot was bummed I didn’t get to meet Ha, the mastermind behind the Fur Face Boy brand, when I hit up the FFB booth at the H-Town Sneaker Summit a few months ago. He was off eating lunch at the time, but at least I got to snag some FFB tees. The Mega Man shirt in all its 8-bit glory is a personal favorite of mine.

Fur Face Boy Series 4 T-Shirt Collection - Smells Like FFB & Private FFB T-Shirts

As I mentioned above, FFB Series 4 is being retired to make way for Series 5, and to celebrate that fact all tees are currently on sale at the Fur Face Boy online store for just $19.99 (and sweatshirt are $29.99). To further entice you to pick up some of these awesome tees, Ha has even made all domestic shipping a flat $6 per order no matter how many t-shirts you purchase. It’s a killer deal from a great indie brand, but be sure to act fast as Series 4 will definitely sell out soon!

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1 - Chris Hemsworth as Thor, The God of Thunder

Building upon the Thor Portrait Movie Poster Set released earlier this month, the marketing team behind Marvel’s upcoming film Thor has released a somewhat new set of character movie posters. The new Thor Character Movie Poster Set includes six different one sheets, each featuring a primary cast member of the film (Thor, Odin, Loki, Jane Foster, Heimdall and Sif), and does so with an interesting muted color scheme.

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1 - Anthony Hopkins as Odin, The King of Asgard

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1 - Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, The Woman of Science

The Blot likes how they’ve highlighted each character’s primary color and they did a great job creating a unique tag line for each poster, especially with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. The Blot had no idea what they would use for a poster of her, but you knew Natalie would have to play a major part of the film’s marketing campaign. It’s just hard when she’s the lone human surrounded by a bunch of really cool Norse gods. I don’t know about you, but at this point Thor is still at the top of my list of must see comic book movies coming out during the summer of 2011.

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1 - Tom Hiddleston as Loki, The God of Mischief

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1 - Idris Elba as Heimdall, The Guardian of Worlds

Thor Character Movie Poster Set 1 - Jaimie Alexander as Sif, The Goddess of War

Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, and Jaimie Alexander as Sif.

Barneyism of the Week - Tools

Yeah, here’s the thing about me and tools.

The only one I know how to use is attached to me,
and I am not going to try putting it in the TV…again.

How I Met Your Mother - Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson
- Barney Stinson

“Legendaddy”

How I Met Your Mother

Man, was last week's episode of HIMYM great or what? It was definitely one of The Blot’s favorite episodes of the season if not Seasons 5 and 6! Yes it was a tad melodramatic, but the entire season, if not the entire series, has been building to Barney finally meeting his dad and I think the end scene definitely paid off. I’m interested in seeing how soon we’ll see Barney’s dad again and how their relationship progresses. Thankfully with CBS’ announcement that they have renewed How I Met Your Mother for two more seasons there will be plenty of time for Craig Thomas and Carter Bays to bring back John Lithgow’s Jerome Whittaker.

According to Wikipedia (take that for what it’s worth), Lithgow will definitely be appearing in future episodes and play a part in Barney’s relationship (or lack thereof) with Nora. While that’s all fine and dandy, The Blot wants to see more of Barney interacting with his half-brother JJ. I can just picture it now: Barney turning sweet little JJ into a mini-Barney, suit and all. It would be legend…wait for it…dairy!

LOST Miles Straume & Claire Littleton 8 Inch Mego Style Action Figures by Big Bang Pow!

If you haven’t heard the great news yet, let The Blot be the first to tell you: Bif Bang Pow! has officially announced it will be producing all 6 LOST Mego style action figures previously solicited as Wave 3. But due to the overwhelming support of LOST fans worldwide, these last 6 figures will see the light (of day)! Each character will have a limited edition run size of 1,000 pieces and come individually numbered for collectors.

The third LOST Series 3 set includes "Frighter Folk" Miles Straume and Season 1 "The Caves" Claire Littleton. “10 Years” Screen Print by Buff Monster

“10 Years” Screen Print by Buff Monster

In honor of Buff Monster’s 10th Anniversary of drawing his trademark characters, the LA based artist will be releasing a limited edition screen print. Buff’s always been a huge fan of silkscreening, and has had a long history of silkscreening his own posters to put up in the street, certain elements in some of his paintings and even his own shirts. And so for this iconic print it just had to be silkscreened. What's even cooler is this particular image is actually based on a painting Buff did 10 years ago! Kind of ties the whole theme together, doesn’t it?

“10 Years” by Buff Monster is 5 color screen print on 18”x24” rag paper and comes signed and numbered by the artist. This print has a limited edition run size of 100 pieces and goes on sale at 10am PDT today, Friday, March 25th, at the Buff Monster online store.

Mondo announced its third Director Series yesterday, and it’ll feature the films of none other than Zack Snyder. And to kick things off, Mondo commissioned Ken Taylor to design this awesome screen print for Snyder’s newest film, Sucker Punch (which also happens to debut in theaters today). How cool is this Zack Snyder Director Series going to be? Mondo has already confirmed screen prints for 300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead and Legend of the Guardians are in the works. The Blot doesn’t know who’s designing the Watchmen print, but I hope it’s killer!

Captain America: The First Avenger Theatrical Trailer #1

Here it is, the moment none of us were waiting for…the first trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. And you know what? It’s actually pretty good! The Blot still hates Capt’s uniform, but this trailer has definitely won me over. For the first time in months I’m actually excited to see Marvel's live action Captain America film this summer, and that’s something I never thought I’d be saying.

Captain America: The First Avenger, directed by Joe Johnston and starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving and Tommy Lee Jones, is scheduled to debut in theaters on July 22, 2011.

Marvel Comics x Stussy Clothing Collection

Is there anyone out there not doing a clothing collection with Marvel these days? Yesterday Stussy announced it was teaming up with Marvel Comics to release a line of limited edition t-shirts and headwear, which will merge classic characters from the Marvel universe with Stussy’s galaxy of iconic imagery.

Marvel Comics x Stussy Clothing Collection Series 1 Promotional Art

Series 1, which will be released on April 27, 2011, will be a collection of tees and hats that fuse archival Marvel images with Stussy’s iconic graphic language. Scanned from the original comic books and rare collectors’ posters from the 1960s–1990s, the t-shirt designs capture the essence of the characters, the texture of vintage comic books and the soulfulness of the Stussy brand. Marvel x Stussy Series 1 will include limited edition t-shirts featuring Captain America, Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Silver Surfer and Wolverine. Surprisingly, there’s no Spider-Man, Iron Man or Thor on this list (or any female characters for that matter).

Marvel Comics x Stussy Clothing Collection Series 2 Promotional Art

Series 2 will be released on May 6, 2011 and includes a collection of graphic tees and hats that feature new works of art by a pool of critically acclaimed international artists. Each artist was invited to revisit their childhood inspirations and interpret their favorite heroes and villains utilizing their signature styles. Marvel Comics x Stussy Series 2 will include art work by James Jarvis, Noah Eutkus, Mr. Cartoon, Todd James, John K., Gary Panter, Bill Plympton, David Shrigley and Will Sweeney.

Blackest Night Action Figure Box Set by DC Direct

Blackest Night Action Figure Box Set by DC Direct - Indigo Munnk, Green Lantern/Blue Lantern Hal Jordan, Black Lantern Blue Beetle & Star Sapphire Fatality Action Figures

The Blot was really bummed to learn DC Direct’s next wave of Blackest Night action figures would be released as a box set. When I first learned of these figures at Toyfare 2011, I was pumped to see a Black Lantern Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) action figure was getting released. Ted’s one of my favorite characters, and I love the fact that even in “death” DC continues to release toys of him. Alas, there’s no way I’m picking up a four figure box set just to get Dead Ted.

The Blackest Night Action Figure Box Set by DC Direct includes Indigo Munnk, Green Lantern/Blue Lantern Hal Jordan, Black Lantern Blue Beetle and Star Sapphire Fatality, as well as a 48 page book entitled Blackest Night Special Edition #1, which includes stories from Green Lantern #40 and #41 (written by Geoff Johns, with art by Philip Tan and Eddy Barrows) and Booster Gold #27 (written and drawn by Dan Jurgens). Each figure stands approximately 6.75" high, and the entire box set can be purchased for around $60 starting on November 9, 2011.

Thor International One Sheet Movie Posters

Thor International One Sheet Movie Poster

Marvel released their first traditional one sheet movie posters for this summer’s Thor, and they look awesome. This is how you make a cool comic book live action movie poster (hint, hint X-Men: First Class). I love how both of these international movie posters feature most of the film’s primary cast members and each throws in a little action without it over powering the posters. My favorite Thor poster to date is the one above, which features Chris Hemsworth striking Thor’s trademark pose. There’s just something about seeing him striking Mjolnir to the ground that makes him feel like Thor to me.

First Look: Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman and Television Show Logo

At this point, everyone and their mother has seen the first image of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman and dissected it ad nauseum. Everywhere The Blot looked every article I saw was either about Palicki’s Wonder Woman costume or March Madness, and with Texas now eliminated, I’d rather talk more about this costume and the new NBC television show’s logo.

First Look: Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman
Click the photo above to enlarge.
For me, the costume actually works pretty well. It’s not perfect or what I imagined it would look like, but it’s much better than some of the costumes in other live action comic book adaptations. And it’s definitely better that what it could have been. I think it was a given they’d be giving Diana pants ala her new look in the DC comic books, I just wish they had picked better colors for the uniform. I think a slight change in the costume’s color change would go a long way. But if I had to make one major change it would be this, the boots need to be red! Who in the hell wears boots the identical color as one’s pants? They change those boots and The Blot is a happy man.

First Look: Wonder Woman Television Show Official Logo

To be honest, I hate the show’s logo way more than Palicki’s costume. To me, the Wonder Woman logo looks cheap. I like that they incorporated the key elements (stars, the double W eagle, red and blue colors), but why not just stick with what works? The old double W was classic and recognizable by all. And even better yet, use the title from the current Wonder Woman comic book series. It’s got the colors and the stars, and I really love that font. But enough from me, what do you all think about the new television show’s logo and lead actress?

Fur Face Boy, one of The Blot’s favorite indie clothing lines from Dallas, Texas, has designed this limited edition t-shirt in which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross: Japan Relief Fund. Being a pop-culture junkie like The Blot, FFB has based this tee on the iconic Japanese hero Ultraman with a Fur Face Boy twist. I’ve got a feeling a lot of the Kaiju lovers out there will definitely want to get their hands on this awesome shirt, especially with all proceeds being donated to the Red Cross.

The Ultra FFB t-shirt is currently available for pre-order through the Fur Face Boy online store for $32 each. These very special t-shirts will only be available for presale for 5 days only (March 17-21), so act now! And remember, 100% of the proceeds from this shirt will be donated to the Red Cross: Japan Relief Fund.

Looking to complete your collection of DC Direct Brightest Day/Blackest Night action figures? The Blot hasn’t been keeping up with Brightest Day, but I’ve got to imagine Batman and Flash will be playing a huge role in the bi-monthy series’ endgame.

At each convention only 1,000 of each action figure will be made available for purchase at the Graphitti Designs booth (Booth 717 at C2E2 and Booth 201 at WonderCon). To get these awesome Brightest Day

Kaiju for Japan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser

Kaiju for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fundraiser

If you follow The Blot on Twitter then you’re probably already aware of Kaiju for Japan, an awesome fundraiser organized by artist extraordinaire Troy Stith to help raise money for Japan after the horrible devastation of last week. If you’re like me, you can’t get the blight of the Japanese people out of your mind and want to know what you can do to help! Well, here’s an opportunity for the entire toy community to come together and help raise funds, which will be donated to the Red Cross.

Kaiju for Japan Earthquake Relief Fundraiser

As Troy put it, “I also know that some of you have probably already donated to the Red Cross Earthquake/Tsunami relief fund, but I thought we toy makers could help out as well. Seeing that many of our favorite characters and toys come from and or have been inspired by Japanese influences.” Troy’s looking to get as many customs as possible from creators from around the world to sell off for a large donation to the relief fund. If you’re interested in donating, you can email Troy at troystith@hotmail.com. The deadline for contributions is Thursday, April 14th.

If you’re not an artist, just a collector like me, don’t worry! We can play our part too. After all of the custom figures are collected (almost 60 artists have already pledged custom figures), the sale will go live (most likely on Friday, April 22nd). That’s when we can all purchase/bid on these awesome custom figures and help raise money for our fellow toy lovers in Japan. More info to come as we get closer to the on sale date of Kaiju for Japan.

[O8STACLES] Custom Toy Series by Ryan the Wheelbarrow

[O8STACLES] Custom Toy Series by Ryan the Wheelbarrow

The Blot’s got to say, the more I see of Ryan the Wheelbarrow’s “we_rd art” on vinyl toys the more I’ve come to love his unique, abstract style. Since 2002, he has been adapting 2 low end forms of typographic communications (screen print and sign shops) to produce an art practice of organic typographic abstraction on whatever canvas or object he can find. The longer you look at these weird little things the more interesting they begin to look.

[O8STACLES] Custom Toy Series by Ryan the Wheelbarrow - 13 3 Inch Blind Box Dunnys

Flash forward to 2011 and you can see the evolution of The Wheelbarrow’s style in his newest custom toy series entitled [O8STACLES]. This custom series will include a 13 piece 3" DUNNY blind-boxed series with one lucky box including a matching 1.5" Labbit (each blind box retails for $55).

[O8STACLES] Custom Toy Series by Ryan the Wheelbarrow - 8”/3” Dunny Set

[O8STACLES] Custom Toy Series by Ryan the Wheelbarrow - 5”/1.5” Labbit 2-Pack

Along with the 13 blind boxes, [O8STACLES] will also include three sets of 8"/3" Dunny sets ($300 each) and a 5”/1.5" Labbit pack, which will retail for $160. Each [O8STACLES] custom vinyl figure was created with screen printed acrylic on vinyl stickers and comes packaged in a unique screen printed box. [O8STACLES] launches this Monday, March 21st, at 9am EDT in Ryan the Wheelbarrow’s online store.
