Street Fighter Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot

Street Fighter Blind Box Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot

It looks like Previews let the cat out of the bag on this one! Capcom's Street Fighter, now in its umpteenth iteration with over 29 million copies sold worldwide, teams up with Kidrobot to take you back to the arcade with the characters who started it all, including Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Zangief, Blanka, Guile and E. Honda! This is one licensed series The Blot definitely did not see coming, and I don’t know how I feel about it.

On the one hand, I think stylized vinyl figures of these iconic "street fighters" could be really cool. I grew up with these characters, and Street Fighter 2 might be my favorite arcade game of all time! But the truth is these blind box figures look uninspired and bland. Kidrobot’s first couple of licensed mini-series (Simpsons, Futurama) were exciting and unique, but now with Street Fighter and South Park coming up it just feels like more of the same…almost as if the designer toy company is just moving through the motions. While the heads of these figures are ok, the bodies are totally bland. People love Kidrobot because of the art and the way the company used to think outside of the box. Where is the creativity in this series?

Street Fighter x Kidrobot Mini Figure Series 1 includes all 12 of the video game’s original characters, including a psycho-powered chase. Expect this mini figure series to drop on July 27, 2001 and retail for $9.95 per blind box.

The Walking Dead Comic Book Series 1 Action Figures

The Walking Dead Comic Book Series 1 - Officer Rick Grimes & Michonne Action Figures

If you follow The Blot on Twitter then you know I’ve recently begun to read the amazing comic book series The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. After watching (and thoroughly enjoying) the AMC television series, I felt like it was time to finally see what all the hullabaloo was about. Needless to say, the comics have definitely lived up to the hype and so to have these all new comic book inspired The Walking Dead action figures by McFarlane Toys!

The Walking Dead Comic Book Series 1 - Zombie Lurker & Zombie Roamer Action Figures

If you’re not familiar with the comics or television series, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years that come after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by Officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The Walking Dead Comic Book Series 1 action figure lineup includes some of the most iconic characters from the book, along with some amazingly realistic, yet dead, zombie counterparts.

Series 1 includes survivors Officer Rick Grimes and Michonne, and a Zombie Lurker and a Zombie Roamer. I haven’t been introduced to Michonne in the comic book yet, but she looks pretty bad ass! And just look at all of the amazing details McFarlane Toys have included on these TWD zombies. It’s pretty incredible. Each The Walking Dead Comic Book Series 1 figure stands 6” tall, retails for $15 and will begin shipping sometime in September 2011.  Purchase all four figures here (and support TheBlotSays.com in the process)!

General Shirokuri Custom Vinyl Figure by Huck Gee

General Shirokuri Custom Vinyl Figure by Huck Gee

On Friday, Huck Gee released a new addition to the story of The Three Wars: General Shirokuri! Hailing from the wintery northlands, General Shirokuri led his warriors into battle with cunning bravado, demanding their loyalty and inspiring their excellence. General Shirokuri, once called lightning incarnate, was keen to never rely on brute force, instead using his wits to outflank and outmaneuver his opponents in his vast, mountainous homeland. After the wars, the people gave his name to a majestic peak, the base of which was the site of one of his most famous victories. And to this day, rumor has it that the rare, white chestnuts of Mount Shirokuri have mystical powers.

Each General Shirokuri custom vinyl figure by Huck Gee comes signed and numbered, and includes all of the accessories shown here. Only 10 of these custom Munnys were created, and each figure retails for $700 each. The Blot has no idea how many still remain, but if you would like one I recommend emailing Huck at sales@huckgee.com immediately to reserve your figure today!
