Design Festa Exclusive “Original Ugliness” Ugly Unicorns by Rampage Toys

The this weekend Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys will finally be releasing his new Ugly Unicorn vinyl figure in the character’s original color scheme! The Ugly Unicorn first appeared in one of Jon’s painting sporting red hair, a yellow face and white and blue legs, so it was only a matter of time until Rampage Toys released an OG Ugly Unicorn. This Design Festa Exclusive is a mixed parts release (yellow and white vinyl) with lots of rub and spray action. As Jon says, “who needs original sin, when you've got original ugliness!?!”

The Design Festa Exclusive Original Ugly Unicorn has a limited edition run size of 5 figures and goes on sale this weekend at DF booth I-300 at the show in Tokyo. If you aren't able to attend DF in Japan, any leftovers will be available first to the Ugly Unicorn mailing list, and after that they will go up on the Rampage Toys online store. Uglydoll Pop! Vinyl Figures by Funko

Now here’s a Pop! vinyl figure release from Funko that hardcore designer art toy collectors can get into! Funko has teamed up with David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim to release a line of 3.75” stylized Uglydoll vinyl figures in Funko’s trademark cute and chunky style. Uglydoll Pop! Vinyl Figures Series 1 includes Ice-Bat, Ox, Ninja Batty Shogun, Wage and Little Babo.

Each Pop! Uglydoll Series 1 vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, has a rotating head and comes in a displayable window box. These figures go on sale January 3, 2012 but can be pre-ordered from EntertainmentEarth.com here for just $9.99 each.

Calling All Artists: The Super7 Mummy Boy Paint Contest

Yesterday, Super7 announced its first ever Mummy Boy Custom Paint Contest! Basically, Super7 wants to see what crazy color schemes its fans can come up with for its mascot (and pocket mascot). For the contest, Super7 will be releasing both a Mummy Boy and a Pocket Mummy Boy in classic unpainted flesh vinyl for artists from around the world to purchase and paint in their unique styles. Keep some of the original vinyl showing, paint it all over, it doesn't matter to Super7...so let your imagination run wild!

The Blot could not believe the news when I read this latest press release from Super7. What a great idea! I especially love the fact that the contest is open to all artists willing to purchase the soon to be released Unpainted Flesh Mummy Boy and/or Pocket Mummy Boy. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! One winner for each figure will be chosen by Super7 for a future production release during its 11th Anniversary month long celebration in May 2012.

Contest Details: The Unpainted Contest Mummy Boy and Pocket Mummy Boy will be available for sale this Friday, November 11th, at Noon PST at Super7 and the Super7 online store. The Unpainted Flesh Mummy Boy will retail for $50, while the Unpainted Flesh Pocket Mummy Boy will retail for $25. All entries must be submitted by Friday, January 27, 2012 to the Super7 Store. All entries submitted will be exhibited and for sale at the Super7 Mummy Boy Custom Paint Contest Show on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Super7 Store in San Francisco, CA.

First Look: Disney Pop! Vinyl Figures Series 3 by Funko

Take a good, hard look at Funko’s upcoming third wave of Pop! Disney Store vinyl figures, and tell me you’re not as impressed as The Blot is by how this toy line continues to evolve. Funko has done an amazing job giving each Pop! figure it’s own look and detailed sculpt. From Elastigirl’s tall, slender body to Ariel and Ursual’s undersea appearances, each figure in Pop! Disney Store Wave 3 looks so awesome! I am especially excited about the inclusion of Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat in this 12 figure set, which includes both classic Disney characters and new Pixar favorites.
