Design Festa Exclusive “Army of Brightness” Ugly Unicorns by Rampage Toys

Jon Malmstedt’s (of Rampage Toys) second Design Festa release is his “Army of Brightness” Ugly Unicorns. As Jon explained, “sometimes you start something with a vision, and you just can't anticipate how long it will take to make it happen. That was the case with these 10 "Army of Brightness" Ugly Unicorns!” Over 8 layers of spray and masking went into creating Jon’s latest army of UUs, and all that time and effort definitely paid off! The Blot may be mistaken, but I also think this marks the first time an Ugly Unicorn has been released on black vinyl.

The Design Festa Exclusive "Army of Brightness" Ugly Unicorn has a limited edition run size of 10 figures (Ugly’s largest run yet), and goes on sale this weekend at booth I-300 at the show in Tokyo. Hermees Yellow Edition by Gary Ham

Last week the fourth and final colorway of Hermees, Gary Ham’s self produced vinyl figure and the winner of the 2011 Designer Toy Award for “Best Self Produced Toy”, was released into the wild. If you missed The Blot’s review of Hermees you can check it out here, but this is definitely one killer bat! Hermees Yellow Edition has a limited edition run size of 200 figures, retails for $45 and can be purchased directly from Gary at his Superham! online store. Hopefully this is not the last we see of Hermees as this is such a great character with lots of personality.

Hermees is a trickster and international traveler. He's developed quite the reputation and depending on where his journey's take him, he could bring luck, happiness, longevity, disease, or even . . .DEATH. Hermees is an 8" vinyl toy with a 12" wingspan and 8 points of articulation in the head, snout, wings, hands, and feet. Each figure comes housed in a nicely designed window packaging.
