Calavera 8” Dunny by Jesse Hernandez

Kidrobot - Calavera 8” Dunny by Jesse Hernandez

While Jesse Hernandez let it leak a few months ago that he had an 8” Dunny in the works, we didn’t know what that Dunny might be until Friday when Kidrobot made the official unveiling! Urban meets Aztec with Jesse’s newest creation, the Calavera 8” Dunny. An indigenous character from the world of Jesse Hernandez, Calavera is as ancient as he is modern.

Featuring Aztec-inspired painted patterns around the feet and neck and a fiery feather headdress around its skull, this 8 inch Dunny exists between the worlds of the living and the dead. The Calavera 8” Dunny by Jesse Hernandez has a limited edition run size of 1,000 pieces and retails for $75 each. The Art of Huck Gee Book Tour

Huck Gee’s “The Art of Huck Gee” Book Tour

Every time The Blot complains about how Houston never gets any cool signings, I find out about some killer event coming my way. Maybe I should complain more often!!! As it turns out, next month Huck Gee is hitting the road to promote his new book The Art of Huck Gee, a massive 150 page full color retrospective of Huck’s work. The Blot can’t wait to get my hands on a copy when Huck hits Houston on January 12th!

Over the span of 13 days, Huck will be embarking on an amazing 11 city signing tour that will span from coast-to-coast. This will be the first time Huck has signed in many of these cities, including Houston (yeah, I’m excited what can I say). Each event will take place from 6-8pm, but get there early as the lines for Huck's appearances tend to go around the block a couple of times.

Huck Gee’s “The Art of Huck Gee” Book Tour Schedule

The tour starts Thursday, January 5th, in Denver followed by Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Houston, Mesa, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and will finish in his hometown of San Francisco on Tuesday, January 17th. Attendees will be able to purchase a special limited edition white cover copy of the book, which will retail for around $30-40. This white covered version of the book will only be available during the book tour, and is limited to only 800 worldwide. If you plan on hitting up Domy Books for Huck’s Houston tour stop, you can pre-order a copy of the book here. Hope to see you there!

The Walking Dead Television Series 1 Action Figures by McFarlane Toys

The Walking Dead Television Series 1 - Deputy Rick Grimes & Daryl Dixon Action Figures

While my wife was out of town Friday night for work, The Blot sat down to watch all of The Walking Dead Season 2, Part I. Thankfully the first 7 episodes of Season 2 were a lot more consistent than Season 1, and I found myself fast forwarding through episodes less and less as the season progressed. By the end I was actually excited to watch Season 2, Part II, which isn’t scheduled to airing until February 2012. In the mean time we have these awesome The Walking Dead Television Series 1 action figures from McFarlane Toys!

The Walking Dead Television Series 1 - Zombie Biter & Zombie Walker Action Figures

The Walking Dead Television Series 1 includes Deputy Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, a Zombie Walker and a Zombie Biter. I was really excited to see Daryl Dixon included in the first wave of figures as he is hands down my favorite character on the show. It’s really surprising too since he is an all new character that did not originate in Robert Kirkman's comic book series from Image Comics. What’s amazing is how spot on Rick and Daryl look to their real life counterparts. According to McFarlane Toys it’s because the figures were created based on a 3D scan of the actors themselves.

Each The Walking Dead Television Series action figure stands 4” to 4.5” tall, includes tons of accessories and comes packaged on a blister card. This is a sister series to McFarlane Toys’ previously released The Walking Dead Comic Book Series, one is just based on the characters from the comic book series while the other is based on the hit AMC TV show. Both toy lines are the same scale and feature the same packaging. If there is one complaint I’ve heard about these toys is that they are much smaller in person than fans anticipated.

According to McFarlane Toys, The Walking Dead Television Series 1 is not expected in stores until December 2011 but I saw them at Austin Comic-Con a month ago. So they may be available at select retailers now for $15 each or you can pre-order the entire set for $55.99 here from EntertainmentEarth.com.
