Michael Jackson Pop! Rocks Vinyl Figures by Funko

Late last week Funko announced it will be releasing an all new wave of Pop! Rocks vinyl figures featuring the King of Pop, Michael Jackson! Each figure features Michael in an outfit from one of his many hit music videos striking an all too familiar pose. The Michael Jackson Pop! Rocks Series includes “Beat It” Michael, “Billie Jean” Michael and “Smooth Criminal” Michael (all three classics in The Blot’s humble opinion). Here’s hoping “Thriller” and “Bad” Michael Jackson vinyl figures aren’t too far behind! What song would you like to see immortalized in vinyl?

Each Michael Jackson Pop! Rocks vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, has a rotating head and comes in a displayable window box. Each MJ vinyl figure will retail for $9.99 and is scheduled to ship sometime in January 2012.

Fringe 100% Be@rbrick

The Blot was super excited to find out Medicom had acquired the license for FOX's Fringe and would be including the TV show in its upcoming Be@brick Series 23. Fringe is one of my favorite shows on television, and I had high expectations for this blind boxed 100% Be@rbrick. But now that I’ve seen the figure it’s kinda disappointing! It’s cool that they used one of the show’s trademark symbols/glyphs from its now debunked cipher, but isn’t it missing the all important yellow dot?

Plus, including its name on the left leg is kinda taking the easy way out right? I mean where’s the creativity! They didn’t do that with Twin Peaks’ generic looking Agent Dale Cooper. I’d be ok with the logo on the figure’s back, but including it in the front is kind of like waving the white flag and admitting the blue hand print isn’t enough on its own to draw a connection to the TV show. I do have to give Medicom props for trying though. Between this and the Twin Peaks Be@rbricks, Medicom is doing a great job tying in to some of my all time favorite sci-fi TV shows. Any guess as to what could be next?

Be@rbrick Series 23 is out now in Japan, and should be making its way stateside in the next few months.

The Muppets Plush Collection

What can I say, The Blot loves me some Muppets! And I especially love the new The Muppets movie (which I highly recommend everyone seeing in theaters). While Disney has done a great job promoting The Muppets, I was more than a little shocked when I realized they really didn’t release any new merchandise to tie-in with the film. I guess they didn’t have much faith that The Muppets would be a hit? I’ve been to my local Disney Store a few times in the past month and the only Muppet merchandise they have are coffee mugs and a new line of Muppet plush dolls hidden in a back corner. And when I say hidden in a back corner I’m being literal here! It was all very surprising.

The Muppets Plush Collection is a Disney Store exclusive, and includes 8 characters in all: Kermit the Frog, Walter, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Beaker and Rizzo. Each plus figure is 17” tall (except Rizzo who is 12” tall), features a ''Genuine Authentic Original Disney Store'' patch and retails for $16.50 (the smaller Rizzo is $12.50). From what I’ve seen they’re actually pretty cool dolls, but what’s a guy got to do to get a sweet Dr. Teeth figure? Plus, who wants Beaker without Bunsen Honeydew?
