Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance One Sheet Movie Poster

Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster.jpg

Sony has released the first one sheet movie poster featuring a full image of Marvel’s Ghost Rider for its upcoming film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. I’m still amazed this film got made and is a true sequel instead of a reboot. Does Nicolas Cage really have that much clout to get a second Ghost Rider film released, or is this one being self funded by the sale of his comic book collection? I’m willing to go out on a limb and say this film is going to be horrible (when was the last time Cage made a good film?), but I can’t stop looking at this poster. The new Ghost Rider looks so bad ass!  If only the movie turned out to be equally as cool.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance blazes into theaters on February 17, 2012.

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Morgon XL Resin Figure by Motorbot

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Morgon XL Resin Figure by Motorbot

After a series of crazy experiments, Motorbot has transformed his well dressed monster Morgon into the hulking behemoth Morgon XL! I’m actually not sure what Motorbot is calling his newest 5” resin figure, but you’ll definitely want to be picking one up the next time he makes these available for purchase. I received the colorway you see here as part of my reward for helping to fund his Kickstarter project and couldn’t believe how big it was.

For a 5” rotocasted figure, it’s got some real weight and heft to it. What’s really shocking is how much bigger the Morgon XL looks compared to the OG 4” Morgon. I was hoping to take a photo of the two figures next to each other, when I realized I don’t actually own the original Morgon resin figure. Instead I took the photo of Morgon XL with a Formaldehyde Face (which shares the same body as the OG Morgon) for a size comparision. I’ve also taken a photo of the new Morgon Xl with a Kidrobot 8” Dunny and a Super7 6” Mummy Boy for size comparison. As a collector first, I always think it’s helpful to see pics comparing the new toy with a standard sized figure I can use as a point of reference.

To be honest, I don't know if I would have bought this figure on its own. But after playing with it for a few days, I have to say the new Morgon XL is a really cool medium sized monster figure and a great addition to my collection. If there was one thing I was surprised by it is the fact that the Morgon XL has no articulation. That’s not really a big deal to me (and it doesn’t affect the toy’s aesthetic), but I’ve come to expect at least one point of articulation from Motorbot’s medium and large scale figures. If nothing else, this just goes to show how good Motobot is at sculpting and casting resin, and how high he’s set the bar. Who else in the toy community is consistently producing resin figures in a variety of sizes with multiple points of articulation? I really can’t think of anyone other than Texas' own Motorbot!
