Johnny Cupcakes Cupcake & Crossbones Blind Box Mini Vinyl Figure

After making their world debut at New York Comic-Con 2011, Johnny Cupcakes first blind boxed figure is now available online at JohnnyCupcakes.com and all Johnny Cupcakes retail locations. The one thing The Blot was shocked to find out about these cute 2” tall Cupcake & Crossbones vinyl figures is that they’re scented! There are 10 flavors/color combinations in all, including marshmallow, blueberry, citrus, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, grape, green apple, bubblegum and banana. I can’t like, I’m really itching to find out what that Marshmallow JC Crossbones figure smells like. Although the one I really want is the glittery Vanilla colorway, which kind of looks glow in the dark in the pics.

Each Johnny Cupcakes Cupcake & Crossbones mini vinyl figure comes foil sealed in a blind box, so it’s a mystery to which color/flavor you’ll get. Fur Face Boy Series 6 T-Shirt Collection

Last week Fur Face Boy released its sixth t-shirt collection! Boy has time flown by or what!?! “New 52” Superman DC Universe All Stars Series 2 Action Figure

Yesterday, CBR dropped the official news that Mattel would be including two “New 52” versions of classic DC Universe superheroes as part of its new DC Universe All Stars toy line. DCU All Stars Series 2 would include “New 52” Superman, “New 52” Flash (I honestly can’t tell the difference between this version of The Flash and every other Barry Allen version but whatever), Red Robin (this has to be Earth 2 Red Robin, right? No way high school age Tim Drake is this big or this buff), and “evil” Supergirl. The Blot talked about this release briefly on Twitter yesterday, but I thought a full blown blog post might be in order.

Seeing this “New 52” Superman action figure up close has really gotten me depressed.  Not only could I care less about a Superman toy in this costume, most of America is going to be wondering why he looks so weird. @JeffRReid summed it up best, “That dude looks like Ultraman (of The Crime Syndicate), not Superman.” Warner Bros, DC and Mattel need to stop kidding themselves…America’s Superman wears his tight red undies on the outside!

Between this new comic book uniform and the one they’re using in the upcoming Man of Steel live action movie, Warner Bros is really missing out on a golden opportunity to bring Superman back to the mainstream. I don’t think the costume will be the reason Clark Kent isn’t back on the top of the superhero hierarchy, but it definitely isn’t helping.  While I'm fine with DC's reboot of its comic book universe, I've come to hate most of their redesigns.  They seem needless and extremely overworked.  Because of that, I can honestly say I won’t be buying any of these “New 52” action figures from Mattel or DC Direct (unless they release a Booster Gold action figure that is).

PaperMonster x Choke Urban Creation Umbrellas

If like The Blot you don’t like getting wet, here’s a release just for you! PaperMonster, one of The Blot’s favorite stencil graffiti artists, has teamed up with Choke Urban Creation to produce a very cool umbrella featuring one of PaperMonster’s iconic images. Based on PaperMonster’s original painting “Outlaw”, the PaperMonster x Choke Urban Creation umbrella comes in packaging designed by the artist and features a one button auto-open/close design with each design viewable from above or below the umbrella. This is seriously such a great idea, and I really hope Choke brings in more street artists from around the globe to produce more umbrellas. I just hope these umbrellas work as well as they look!

This release is actually one in a series of new designer umbrellas by Choke Urban Creation, which also features artwork by A1one (from Tehran) and Cabiao (from Buenos Aires). Each umbrella sells for 25 Euros and can be purchased from Choke Urban Creation’s online store.
