The Huck Gee Project: Warhog & Hog Master Custom Munny

The Huck Gee Project Warhog & Hog Master Custom Munny Vinyl Figures

The second set of figures from The Huck Gee Project were unveiled today, and they are entitled Warhog and Hog Master! The Warhog is a completely new and original sculpt by Huck Gee, but one he has been working on for a while. According to the private collector who owns these pieces, it actually predates Huck’s turret elephant sculpts from his 11/10 show. The Hog Master is just that…the master of the Warhog! I am really interested in finding out if there is a larger back story to these characters from the Huck Gee Project, or if they somehow fit into one of his other universes. I will definitely be asking him about this at his upcoming book signing tour stop here in Houston next week.

The Huck Gee Project: A private collector recently commissioned Huck Gee to create an entire series of one of a kind custom figures, which combined would make up a larger project entitled, appropriately enough, the Huck Gee Project. While the project has since been put on hold, the collector has decided to share photos of the completed pieces with the world, since these are such incredible custom Munnys. This is definitely some of Huck’s best work, and I am so glad these photos are seeing the light of day!

The Huck Gee Project: The Sushi Chef & Octo Samurai Custom Munnys

The Huck Gee Project: The Sushi Chef & Octo Samurai Custom Munny Vinyl Figures

First up is the Sushi Chef, complete with a basket of octopus tentacles ready for market. As you can tell from the second photo, it appears one of these octopus tentacles was actually taken from Huck’s Octo Samurai custom Munny! While the Octo Samurai was originally intended to be a standalone piece, Huck thought he worked too perfectly with the Sushi Chef and created them as companion pieces. I have to say, the Octo Samurai might just be The Blot’s new favorite Huck Gee custom! I absolutely love what he did with that head sculpt…the tentacles are so smooth, it looks like a production piece!

Green Lantern Hal Jordan Blackest Night Custom Pop! Vinyl Figure Set

Green Lantern Hal Jordan Blackest Night Custom Pop! Vinyl Figure Set by Nico Deacosta - Sinestro Corps, Agent Orange, Blue Lantern Corps, Black Lantern, White Lantern & Red Lantern Corps.

The Blot’s favorite comic book crossover event of the past few years is hands down DC ComicsBlackest Night. Everything about this series was perfect (except maybe a few of the superfluous tie-ins), and both Mattel and DC Direct made awesome toys in conjunction with it. Thankfully I’m not the only one who thought so, as a fellow collector has commissioned Filipino artist Nico Deacosta of Likhang Pinoy Customs to recreate Green Lantern Hal Jordan’s look as a member of six of the other Rainbow Lantern Corps. That’s six different custom Green Lantern Hal Jordan Pop! DC Heroes vinyl figures, each representing a different color of the Emotional Spectrum!

Check out the photo above that features Hal Jordan as a member of the Sinestro Corps, Agent Orange, Blue Lantern Corps, Black Lanterns, White Lanterns and Red Lantern Corps. Only thing missing are the Indigo Tribe and Star Sapphires. Hopefully the collector commissions those last two colors so we can see a complete set (ok, maybe not a Star Sapphire but you get my drift).

Fly Me To The Moon Astronaut Dunny Custom Mega Munny by Task One

Fly Me To The Moon Astronaut 8 Inch Dunny Custom 20 Inch Mega Munny by Task One

How dope is this latest custom by Task One!?! Fly Me To The Moon is a custom 8” Dunny and a custom 20” Munny all in one awesome figure! You see, Task’s Fly Me To The Moon Custom Astronaut Dunny is actually wearing the Mega Munny as a spacesuit. As we all know, NASA hasn’t been on top of its game lately, so Dunny’s gotta step up. And step it up he has!

The Fly Me To The Moon Dunny even has a mount at the end of his hose so he can be suspended from pretty much anywhere (a wall, a ceiling, the floor or even a spaceship if you’ve got one) to give off the illusion he is floating in space. But that’s not all…the button on this space fairing vinyl figure’s chest lets you scroll through different RGB LED light patterns. Task One really went all out on this custom! You can pick up this intricate figure directly from Task One via his online store right now for $555.55.

Willow Winterbottom Custom 3" Dunny by UME Toys

Willow Winterbottom Custom 3 Inch Dunny by UME Toys

Meet the shy Willow Winterbottom, a cute pink custom 3” Dunny recently created by Rich Page of UME Toys. Willow is a close friend of Martin Longbottom and the niece of Piers, two more of Rich's adorable creations. Willow could have been yours for £45, but thankfully she’s already found a loving home.

This little monster is a great showcase of Rich’s work, but if you think his customs are cool then you’ve gotta check out his original sculpts! Not only do they defy gravity, they’re just plain cool. See more of Rich’s customs and original creations at his flickr page.

The Electric Mayhem CustomDunny Set Part I by Nikejerk

The Electric Mayhem CustomDunny Set Part I by Nikejerk - Zoot, Dr. Teeth & Janice

2011 was definitely the “Year of The Muppets,” as Kermit and the gang finally retook their place atop the pop culture landscape with the release of The Muppets. The Blot keeps waiting for some awesome designer art toys of The Muppets, but until that happens check out these spot on custom 3 inch Dunnys of The Electric Mayhem, the Muppet Show’s house band, by Nikejerk! Part I of Nikejerk’s The Electric Mayhem Custom 3” Dunny Set includes Dr. Teeth, Janice and Zoot. I haven’t seen any work on whether or not Part 2 is in the works, but I’ve gotta hope Nikejerk is working on Animal and Floyd as we speak!

These figures were commissioned by a private collector, and Nikejerk decided to pattern them after a previous Kermit custom Dunny he made for the same collector. To create the figures you see here, Nikejerk added leg extensions, making these Dunnys about 1/4 taller than your typical 3” Dunnys. Each Electric Mayhem Dunny also includes custom arms, and utilizes felt and yarn to recreate each character’s signature hair style. Is it me or are these customs, in the words of Dr. Teeth, “absotively possilutely righteous!”

Lion-O Custom ThunderCats 3” Dunny by Nikejerk

Lion-O Custom ThunderCats 3” Dunny by Nikejerk

Happy New Year! The Blot thought we could kick off 2012 here on The Blot Says… by looking back at some of the amazing custom work produced in 2011. And what better place to start than this sick Lion-O custom 3 inch Dunny by Nikejerk. A collector commissioned this piece from Nikejerk last summer and it is phenomenal! I’m willing to go so far as to say this is the best ThunderCats custom I’ve ever seen. It’s just too bad this figure is already in someone’s private collection.

Nikejerk spared no expense when recreating the prince of the ThunderCats in Dunny form. He sculpted Lion-O’s trademark flowing hair, sword and Claw Shield…everything one might need to battle the forces of Mumm-Ra! I’d love to see Nikejerk tackle the rest of the ThunderCats one day.
