New Hand Stenciled Silkscreen Print by PaperMonster

Dirty Pilot - Hand Stenciled Silkscreen Print by PaperMonster

It’s been a really long time since The Blot Says… has featured the work of PaperMonster, but I was perusing the Dirty Pilot website this past weekend and saw this beautiful hand stenciled screen print of a wolf girl and was blown away. I really love PaperMonster’s stenciling work and this is a great example of why. The colors and images just pop off the page!

Each hand stenciled 7.75”x9.75” silkscreen comes hand signed and numbered by PaperMonster and is printed on Somerset 300gms art paper with a deckeled bottom edge. Pick one up today at the Dirty Pilot online store for $50 each.

3 New Forest Warlord Vinyl Figure Colorways by Bigfoot One!

The Forest Warlord Vinyl Figure by Bigfoot One – Original Brown Edition Forest Warlord, “Hairy Metal” Black and Silver Edition, “Grapeskunkape” Purple Edition & “Bigbud” Green Edition

Right before SDCC, Bigfoot One released not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 different colorways of his brand new vinyl figure The Forest Warlord! This is definitely a unique way to launch a new figure, but The Blot really digs it. I’m always hesitant to purchase a new figure because I’m always another colorway I might like more. This way, Bigfoot One has already released five of the figure’s planned 7 colorways, which I love. This way you pick the one you like the best or buy them all! It’s an awesome way to release such an epic 11” vinyl figure.

Currently the Original Forest Warlord Brown Edition (450 pieces), the “Hairy Metal” Black and Silver Edition (100 pieces), the “Grapeskunkape” Purple Edition (100 pieces), and the “Bigbud” Green Edition (100 pieces) are all available for purchase through Bigfoot One’s online store. Each figure retails for $95 (plus $11.50 for shipping), comes signed on the bottom of foot, and the box comes signed in 3 places with Bigfoot’s signature, a drawn face and a slogan. Definitely snag one of these awesome figures while they’re still available!

First Look: The Mouseketeer Army Vinyl Figure by Bob Dob

First Look: The Mouseketeer Army Vinyl Figure by Bob Dob

Yesterday, Bob Dob posted the above image on Instagram of his upcoming vinyl figure the Mouseketeer Army! Based on a character that has appeared in numerous of Bob’s paintings (see one of those paintings below), the Mouseketeer Army is always ready to start some trouble. The prototype looks awesome, and I’ve got a feeling Bob Dob fans, vinyl collectors and Disney fanatics will all want to get their hands on this new figure. Here’s hoping there’s a “Black Eyed” chase colorway in the works as well! Look for this awesome new vinyl figure to be released sometime in November 2012.

The Blot's heading to Space City Con!

Space City Con 2012 - Houston, Texas - August 10th – 12th at the Westin Galleria

This weekend The Blot’s heading to Houston’s newest pop culture extravaganza, Space City Con! For the longest time Houston has been a sorely underserved market for comic book conventions, especially when you consider it’s the 4th biggest city in the US. But that’s changed in recent years with the launching of a number of really successful comic-cons in Houston and Austin, proving not only is this region yearning for these types of shows, but it can support multiple conventions throughout the year.

Envisioned as a "geek festival with free parking," Space City Con is looking to instill a love of comics, Sci-fi and fantasy in the next generation. This weekend’s event will offer a robust mix of authors, artists, sci-fi, fantasy, comics, gaming, fan group networking, literature, writing workshops and more, in a venue meant to be more approachable to families and children. This year inaugural event features a killer line up including Star Trek’s Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura from ST:TOS), the original Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank, Cody Schibi, comic book artists Khoi Pham, Art Adams, Whilce Portacio, Joe Eisma, Nick Pitarra, and Robert Wilson IV, and authors R.A. Salvatore, Tracy and Laura Hickman, and Steve Jackson of SJ Games!

Space City Con takes place this weekend (August 10-12) at the Westin Galleria, which is connected to Houston’s Galleria Mall. With free parking and tons of events, what more could you ask for? See you there!
