Obey Giant “Sedation Pill” Screen Print by Shepard Fairey

Obey Giant “Sedation Pill” Screen Print by Shepard Fairey

It’s been a really long time since The Blot’s been in love with an Obey Giant print enough to even try to buy one. So my jaw really hit the ground when I saw Shepard Fairey’s newest screen print “Sedation Pill” yesterday. It just exudes Fairey’s old school propaganda style I love so much! Plus it includes so many trademark Obey Giant images like the Andre star, the Obey script and even some small stylistic flowers. If only the woman in the center wasn’t so creepy looking this would be a must buy!

The “Sedation Pill” print is actually inspired by the title of Fairey’s favorite Public Enemy album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. Shepard explains that he thinks “the biggest problem in America is the indifference and complacency about important issues that results from much of the population being perpetually hypnotized by conspicuous consumption, social media, entertainment, and self-medication. Using sedation and escapism for relief from the rat race might make us less aware (blissfully ignorant) but also less empowered to improve our role within the rat race… a vicious cycle of cause and effect.”

Sedation Pill by Shepard Fairey is an 18″x24″ signed and numbered screen print, and has a limited edition run size of 450 pieces. The print will retail for $45 and goes on sale at Obey Giant online store Thursday, January 10th, between 10am and 12 noon PST at a random time.
