Last week, Max Toy Co released the first batch of the first painted edition of Mark Nagata’s epic Sofubi-man vinyl figure! While these fantastic painted Sofubi-man figures sold out almost immediately upon release, Nagata is currently working on a second batch that will be released later this week. The First Painted Edition Sofubi-man is cast in flesh soft Japanese vinyl, stands 6” tall and features one point of articulation (neck). Each hand painted figure comes bagged with a header card, and retails for $60 at the Max Toy Company online store.
Nagata explained, “As many of you may (or not) know, I've had a life long love affair with soft vinyl kaiju since 1973. But, it wasn't till much later that I found out more about the actual process of making and casting these types of toys. The last few years I've had a goal to make a Sofubi-man out of Sofubi!” What a wonderful homage to the men and women who cast soft vinyl figures in Japan.
