Produced by VTSS, Mickiv is Dead is a 20cm tall vinyl figure, which includes a blood pool base for displaying the figure. Limited to just 200 pieces, collectors can pre-order this awesome new figure at the VTSS DCon booth #1740 for $180.

IKEA Art Event 2018 Designer Glass Figurines by Joe Ledbetter, Junko Mizuno, Michael Lau and More!

Today The Blot visited my local IKEA store to discover that the IKEA Art Event 2018 had hit Houston, Texas a few weeks earlier than advertised!!! The goal of this event is to “make art affordable for everyone while exploring the imaginative world connected to figurines.” For 2018’s Art event release, IKEA has teamed up with some of the biggest names in designer art toys – Joe Ledbetter, Junko Mizuno, Michael Lau, James Jarvis, Coarse, Nathan Jurevicius, Arkiv Vilmansa and Ludvig Löfgren – to create some amazing (and affordable) glass art figurines.

For the IKEA Art Event 2018, these eight artists were invited to the Målerås glass factory in southern Sweden to create contemporary glass figurines. Henrik Most, Creative Leader of this collection, explained, “we want to celebrate the amazing world of art collectibles and the imaginative universe connected to figurines, how they spark our fantasy, represent everyday and turn it upside down with fun and playfulness.”

While glass is a new material for many of the artists, IKEA was curious about how the different artists would apply their creativity, skill and knowledge to working with this unique substance. From a bunny to a, owl to fingers giving the peace sign, these detailed miniature glass sculptures have emerged from the imaginations of the contemporary urban artists. The IKEA Art Event 2018 will be available at all IKEA stores for a limited time for just $29.99 starting in April 2018 – but many stores already have these amazing designer glass figurines on store shelves now!

The IKEA Art Event 2018 Collection includes eight glass art multiples: a clear “Soul Toy” ghost by Michael Lau, a blue fox “Coarse” by Mark Landwehr and Sven Wasch, “Hira” by Arkiv Vilmansa, a green owl “Sutemos” by Nathan Jurevicius, the beautiful purple “Nocturnal” by Junko Mizuno, the “Evil Eye” by Ludvig Löfgren, a red “Bunny” by Joe Ledbetter, and a clear “Peace Sign” by James Jarvis.

After appearing in a number of Arkiv’s paintings, Mickiv can now be yours as a 3D designer vinyl figure. But act fast, as the previous four versions all sold out in an Arkiv Instant.

The “OG” Edition Mickiv stands 8” tall and is limited to just 200 pieces. It goes on sale at 11am EDT at the Visual Ark online store for $100.

Ooh, now here’s a release The Blot’s been waiting for! Arkiv Vilmansa is finally releasing his newest vinyl figure and it may be his best one yet. Check out Mickiv, a mash-up of Arkiv’s signature character Arkiv Instant and Disney’s Mickey Mouse. The Mickiv has appeared in a number of Arkiv’s paintings and now can be added to your designer art toy collection!

The first Mickiv colorway to be released is the “Classic Grey” Edition featuring a monotone color scheme of a variety of greys and white. The “Classic Grey” Mickiv vinyl figure stands 8” tall and is limited to just $100 pieces. It goes on sale at 11am EDT this Thursday, August 29th, at the Visual Ark online store for $100.

Red Dutch Edition Arkiv Instant Vinyl Figure

Mintyfresh and Outland Store have joined forces and are proud to release the red Arkiv Instant Dutch Edition by Indonesian artist Arkiv. This bloody red colorway looks awesome on the Arkiv Instant figure, and is sure to be a hit with collectors of designer/urban vinyl.


The Dutch Exclusive Red Arkiv Instant stands 11 inches tall and is limited to just 100 pieces. The figure is currently available for pre-order directly from Amsterdam’s Outland Store here for €75 each. The red Dutch Exclusive Arkiv Instant is expected to ship sometime in June, 2010, but if you want to add one of these figures to your collection you’d better act fast! Arkiv’s figures have been known to sell out quickly.

Art Asylum Boston Exclusive All Black Arkiv Instant Vinyl Figure

Art Asylum Boston has teamed up with adFunture & Arkiv to release an all Black colorway of Arkiv's infamous signature character. This is the third colorway in the series, and it is being released in conjunction with Arkiv's first solo show with Art Asylum Boston later this year. The AAB Exclusive Arkiv Instant vinyl figure is black on black, and has a beautiful shine with matt black accents.


The Art Asylum Boston Exclusive All Black Arkiv Instant vinyl figure is limited to an edition of only 50 figures, and the first 25 figures sold will include an exclusive signed and numbered, hand embellished print for $115.00. Art Asylum Boston Presents "Art Strikes Back"

As you all know, The Blot is a huge Star Wars fan, so I really wish I could make it to Art Asylum Boston for its upcoming Star Wars themed art show entitled Inspirations From Above: "Art Strikes Back." "Art Strikes Back" is an extraordinary collection of art featuring the works of over 30 artists from around the world showcasing their talents and inspirations based on and around the Star Wars Universe.


Paying homage to Star Wars and the influence it has had over our culture and society in the last three decades, some of today's top artists have been brought together under one roof to bring you "Art Strikes Back." While the show will be taking place in Boston, Art Asylum Boston will have an interactive gallery set up on the gallery’s website for those of us unable to attend in person, so we may view this amazing art show and purchase available works.


Art Asylum Boston will be hosting an opening reception for “Art Strikes Back” on Friday, November 6th at 7:00 - 9:00pm, and the exhibition will run through December 6th. There will also be a limited edition silk screened sticker (designed by David Friedman of http://www.ironicsans.com/) available for attendees at opening night. These stickers will be extremely limited with an edition size of only 100, and each silk screened sticker will be individually numbered.

Arkiv Instant Vinyl Figure by Arkiv

The Blot’s been waiting for Indonesian artist Arkiv’s Arkiv Instant vinyl figure to come out for what feels like forever, and it’s finally here! Sort of anyway...adFunture is taking pre-orders for the Arkiv Instant vinyl figure from now until June 30, 2009. The first edition of this figure will be produced strictly based on its pre-orders (plus 42 pieces for promotional purposes), so if you want one make sure you order it before June 30th or your collect is pretty much guaranteed to be Arkiv-less.


Arkiv Instant stands 28.5cm tall (a little over 11 inches) and can be purchased for $60 each plus shipping here at adFunture’s online store. A caveat to collectors hoping to add an Arkiv Instant vinyl figure to your collection, shipping on this figure is a staggering $45 to anywhere in the US.
