New Mk2 Maintenance Sprogs by Cris Rose

Mk2 Maintenance Sprogs by Cris Rose - Copper Renold, Renold & Runcible Resin Figures

Three years ago Cris Rose’s first Sprogs were released upon the world. Renold, Rigel and Radcliffe were three little maintenance bots with cheeky personalities and a dumpy persuasion. Sadly, at the end of last year they were discontinued…but here are their replacements! Still retaining much of the charm and character of their Mk1 guises, these Mk2 Maintenance Sprogs sees a major upgrade in robustness and power. The MK2 version of Renold, Rigel and Radcliffe can lift heavier, twist harder and grab more accurately with their upgraded limbs and are 60% bigger overall. These resin figures also sport new articulation at the neck and crown on the front.

The first release of Rose’s new Mk2 Maintenance Sprogs go on sale today, Wednesday, February 27th, at 18:00 London time via the Cris Rose online store. This release comes in Rose’s classic copper colorway, the very same color scheme Cris’ very first 2 bots Runcible and Rotund were released in. Each figure has a limited edition run size of just 5 pieces and retails for $65.

“Reclamation Drone” Custom Android Series by Cris Rose

“Reclamation Drone” Custom Android Series by Cris Rose

For the first time ever Cris Rose has customized the popular Android vinyl figure platform and created his new Reclamation Drone Android Series!!! In the same way that Cris’ Observation Drones were Kidrobot's Dunny vinyl body with resculpted resin heads that reflected the original silhouette, the new Reclamation Drones are vinyl Android bodies with brand new heads and Sprog-style collars. What’s really cool about these custom Androids is that all of their articulation has been retained, including the heads (which are also interchangeable).

Cris has created two styles of Reclaimation Drones for this blind box series, the classic 2-eyed "Recycle" head and the long-lens "Overseer" head. This amazing series will be sold exclusively at Dragatomi starting today, Friday, October 19th, at noon PST. Ten figures were created in all including 2 Overseer Silver Reclamation Drones, 3 Overseer Black Reclamation Drones, 4 Recycle Silver Reclamation Drones and 1 Recycle Black Reclamation Drone.

Each blind box will retail for $80, and expect these to sell out instantly! But don’t worry if you miss out, because a second Dragatomi exclusive series is already in the works!

Podgy Panda x Cris Rose Sriracha! Edition Podgonauts (Edition C)

The third release of the popular Podgonauts collaboration between Podgy Panda and Cris Rose goes on sale today, and each new colorway of this exciting 3” resin figure is better than the last! Podgonauts Edition C features a Sriracha colorway, which pays tribute to one of my favorite condiments! For this release the Podgonauts have found themselves in a very spicy situation…they've run into the planet of Sriracha! Not knowing their own spice levels, the poor sods have decided to try a bit to amusing results! I don’t think pandas were made to eat Sriracha.

Podgonaut Edition C comes in the form of the Panda Exploration Corp, dressed in a Sriracha jumpsuit with a laser engraved disc embedded in their chest. They also have an articulated head and removable dome. Only 3 Sriracha Edition Podgonauts (Edition C) resin figures were created, with each figure retailing for $140. Pick one up today, Thursday, September 13th, at 18:00 London Time at the Podgy Panda online store.

Podgy Panda and Cris Rose have teamed up to create a truly awesome collaboration! Two versions of the same resin figure have been created, Cris’ robot panda chef Ramsay and Podgy Panda’s Podgonauts (cute animals in powered spacesuits), and both versions look incredible!

Podgy Panda x Cris Rose Ramsay Edition A Resin Figures - Tangerine Orange & Dark Chocolatier

Tangerine Orange Ramsay Edition A resin figures were designed to look like a panda. This was at the specific request of a chain of theme restaurants who wanted all their robots to look like animals while they cooked and serve their customers. Outfitted with a splash-guard to stop from getting prawns in the face and a jetpack, Ramsay was often in the air as each restaurant was a huge bio-dome, complete with trees, plants and running streams. Only 5 Tangerine Orange Ramsay Edition A resin figures were created and each will retail for $160. These go on sale at Cris Rose’s online store today, Thursday, April 5th at 18:00 London time. Cris also created a very limited run of 3 Dark Chocolatier Ramsays which will retail for $190 each.

Cris Rose x Pepe Arborobots Wood Bots

Cris Rose x Pepe Arborobots Wood Bots - Ramble and Roam

Ramble and Roam, the first two Arborobots by London Artist Cris Rose and Zurich Artist Pepe of Smallstuff Studios, are finally here!!! Ramble is the larger character, a robot grown from wood that feels he is missing something in his big hollow tummy. Coming in single and two-eyed variants, he has thoughts on what he might desire and looks to seek them out. Roam is the smaller chap, keen to help out and particularly good at finding lost things. With one big brass eye, he holds his find aloft and shuffles along as quickly as he can manage. And last but not least there is a single painted "Turquoise Driftwood" Ramble, crafted by Pepe and painted by Cris Rose.

Cris Rose x Pepe Arborobots Wood Bots - “Turquoise Driftwood” Ramble & OG Ramble

The initial release of this pair will include Roam and two-eyed Ramble in walnut and cherry. There will be three 2 packs that include both figures and a camera accessory ($175), as well as 2 Roam ($60) and 2 Ramble ($150) figures sold individually. The one of a kind Turquoise Driftwood Ramble will retail for $225. These go on sale tomorrow at 6pm London time, but act fast because these will sell out incredibly quickly.

Bits n Bytes Resin Figures Goldfish Bowl Palette by Cris Rose

The first official release of Cris Rose’s new Bits n Bytes mini resin figures arrives this week in the first of many colorful Palettes. This week’s release has been dubbed the "Goldfish Bowl" palette, which comes from the oranges of Goldfish, the turquoise blues of water, and the lush greens of the Goldfish's waterplant surroundings. This Bits n Bytes release includes 6 Sprogs (these are the Bits) and 2 versions of Rotund (the Bytes). Each 1/24th scale robot comes in a solid colored resin, with 6 colors in total. Don’t they all look pretty freaking sweet!?!

The Bits n Bytes Goldfish Bowl Palette is scheduled to go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, June 21st, at 18:00 London time at Cris Rose’s online store. If you buy a pack containing a "Full Set" you are guaranteed one of each sculpt with no doubles. There are also 2 options of 3 packs: the Light Pack consists of the lighter hues, while the Dark Pack consists of the darker Hues. There are 3 Bits per pack and the sculpts are random, but you're guaranteed the 3 different colors.

M2 Rotund & Sprog Robot Resin Figures by Cris Rose

M2 Rotund Resin Robots by Cris Rose

Cameras have been very influential to Cris Rose and the evolution of his many robot resin figures. One of Cris’ favorite cameras is the Leica M2, a 35mm film rangefinder from 1959, and it is that exact camera which inspired this latest wave resin bots. Like the Leica M2, these "M2" Rotunds are coated in chrome, and every one sports a single red dot, a classic Leica touch. Each figure also includes 2 heads, one is the Rotund Security head with 5 eyes, the other is a modified Rostrum Precision head outfitted with one of 3 lens configurations depending on the colorway.

The Leica M2, a 35mm Film Rangefinder

Three different “M2” Rotunds colorways have been produced: the classic Matt Black and Chrome, the pure Chrome, and a one of a kind Tan colored version. Each “M2” Rotund also comes with a little TLR Roboflex camera on a tan leather strap, a camera based on one in my existing collection (the TLR Roleicord). Each “M2” Rotund resin robot is $165.

M2 Sprog Resin Robots by Cris Rose

For those of you looking for a less expensive option, Cris has also produced 6 M2 Rundle Sprogs in the same 3 colorways. There are 3 Matt Black, 2 Tan and a one of a kind Chrome. Each comes with a strapless Roboflex TLR and retails for $60 each. If you’re interested in any of these amazing looking resin figures, email Cris immediately as these may already be sold out!

Bits n Bytes Resin Robots by Cris Rose

Bits n Bytes Mini Resin Robot Palettes by Cris Rose

The Blot is really excited for “Bits n Bytes,” an all new series of resin robots from Cris Rose. Featuring 6 popular Sprogs (these are the Bits) and 2 versions of Rotund (the Bytes), these mini resin figures are the first to be offered in solid colored resin and in 1/24th scale (instead of the regular 1/12th). Standing at a delightfully cute 1-2 inches tall, every single detail and proportion of their larger brothers is completely replicated, down to the Sprogs 2mm tall crowns.

1/12th Sprog and 1/24th Bits n Bytes Sprog Resin Robots by Cris Rose

Bits n Bytes will come bagged with header cards in packs of 2-8 (depending on the release), and will come in "Palettes" (instead of sequential Editions) offering several colors per release. For example, a Sunset Palette may offer bots in shades of pinks, orange and blues, while a Space Palette may be black, grays and silver. Some will be distressed with scrapes cut into them, others pristine and fresh from the mold…the selection of bots will be quite random, but you'll know the colors in the Palette and how many Bits and Bytes you’ll receive. Sounds like a pretty ingenious concept doesn’t it!?! Cris really out did himself with this upcoming series and its unique configurations.

Bits n Bytes Mini Rotund Resin Robots by Cris Rose

The prices for Bits n Bytes will be confirmed when the first Palette goes up on Cris Rose’s online store, but expect several min figures for the price of a regular 1/12th Sprog. There will also be a limited number of DIY packs on sale in the near future for those with creative leanings, so keep your eyes peeled on the Cris’ online store for his first ever blank release! The first Bits n Bytes Pallettes will go on sale at the Cavey 1st Birthday show on Thursday , May 26th. There will 10 goodie bags available, each with a 2 pack inside, as well as some in Cris’ pockets to give out to those that find him and say hello!

Ghost Robot Resin Figures by Cris Rose

Ghosts Robot Resin Figures by Cris Rose

Cris Rose has taken his robot resin figures to the next level with his all new (and all clear) Ghost Robots! Made entirely of clear resin, this is not an edition, nor are they high volume, numbered or centered around any specific robot style. Because of how tough these clear Ghost Robots are to make, Cris will only be producing these in very small numbers, and like all Ghosts do, will be randomly appearing on his online store.  The Blot loves clear resin, and these all new Ghost Robots look pretty awesome! Just look at all the details in their clear little bodies.

Rotund's Ghost Resin Figure by Cris Rose

So, if you happen to be on Cris’ online store and you spy a Ghost, act quickly because you know Ghosts disappear just as quickly as they appear! Ghosts come and go without warning, without reason and without pattern, don't try and preempt one appearing, you'll probably be wrong... happy hunting ghostbusters!

Cris Rose x Pepe Arborobots Teaser Image

Cris Rose x Pepe Arborobots Teaser Image

The Blot just found out about an exciting new collaboration between resin toy designer Cris Rose and the woodworking master Pepe of Smallstuff Studios, and couldn’t wait for the final reveal to blog about it. The artists’ Arborobots Series (pronounced “Are-Bore-O-Bots”) is a new line of figures designed in London and hand crafted in Zurich, giving this release a truly worldly feel! It also means numbers for this series will be extremely limited. It is worth noting that these new Arborobots will NOT be made from resin, so might we be seeing the world’s first wooden robots? The first release will be a set of two robots that work together, reflecting the collaborative nature of this endeavor.

Arborobots Official Backstory Part 1 of 2: “In an attempt to increase robot production and improve computational power, the research and development team at Omega Tellurion made an international request for anyone with new ideas and techniques. Among the flood of bizarre and inane suggestions from the general public, there was single proposal that stood out… at least in so far as it was the only submitted on handmade paper. Before the thick tome was even opened, it had garnered significant interest as it appeared that the hard cover and thin leaves of paper had not been bound, but were of one continuous form. The engraving on the front was also of an unknown method. While it seemed to be a finely etched hardwood, under picometer wave inferascope analysis it was clear that each cell and fibre was perfectly aligned and undamaged. Even the colouring on the pages were found to be pigments within the cells themselves, purposefully aligned to produce extremely high resolution text and vivid full colour images.

The contents of this highly unique book left the team of scientists puzzled and bemused. Expecting the language of technology and manufacture, this text read more like a gardeners handbook with a heavy dose of genetics. Having no specialists in either field, a request was made for the gentleman responsible for this submission to make a personal visit to the research lab at Omega Moonbase. In reply came a counter-invitation to visit a more terrestrial location. Switzerland.

Along with England and Norway, Switzerland was one of the few countries to insist on retaining their national identity long after most that had joined the Global Harmonious Republic had allowed their boarders to be dissolved. The destination was accessible only by air – a remote mountain valley deep within the largest of those national forests that had been re-established a century or so prior. No sooner had they set foot on the deep, lush grass, then they were greeted by a soft spoken man named Pepe.”
