Titans Television Series Season 2 One Sheet Poster by DC Universe

Although no one expects the DC Universe streaming service to be around much longer once Warner Bros launches its larger, all-encompassing HBO+ streaming service, it is exciting to see the release of a second season for Titans! The Blot’s a huge Teen Titans fan, and I can’t wait to see all the new characters popping up in the show’s second season, including Superboy, Deathstroke, Jericho, Ravager, and Doctor Light. It’s just too bad Swamp Thing got the ax so quickly! Which new DC Comics character are you most looking forward to seeing in Titans Season 2?

The Blot’s still not sure how I feel about a retro line like this featuring modern properties like Arrow, especially when the show already has a line of highly articulated 6” action figures. Medicom has announced a sixth wave of its popular DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line with two new characters from the DC Comics universe! DC Comics Retro Sofubi Collection Wave 6 includes an all new Black Suit Batman and the vicious Deathstroke the Terminator! The Blot is thrilled they’ve finally moved outside the Batman Universe again and are releasing the popular Teen Titans/Arrow villain Deathstroke. It’s amazing how he’s become one of the top 3 or 4 villains in the DCU (right after The Joker and Lex Luthor).

The DC Comics Retro Sofubi toy line features old school looking figures cast in soft Japanese vinyl from molds by Bear Model and paint designs by Frenzy. Besides LOST, the two television shows The Blot’s been hoping to see Funko give the Pop! treatment were The CW’s Arrow and The Flash! Thankfully I haven’t had to wait very long to see DC Comics’ most popular television shows turned into awesome vinyl figures. I know I’m biased, but these look fantastic! You really can’t get more show accurate. Arrow Pop! Television Series 1 includes The Arrow, Oliver Queen, Black Canary and the deadly Deathstroke, while The Flash Pop! Television Series 1 includes The Flash and Captain Cold. But where’s Cisco!?!

DC Comics Mystery Minis Blind Box Series 2 by Funko

While Funko has released some awesome Mystery Mini Series over the past year, my favorite of the bunch is this DC Comics Mystery Mini Blind Box Series 2 and it doesn’t even come out until next year! The Blot is a huge DC Comics fan, and I love the huge variety of characters Funko included in this series. I’m also excited to see a few heroes and villains that haven’t even been given the Pop! treatment yet. The DC Comics Mystery Minis Series 2 includes 2.5” vinyl figures of heroes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Power Girl, and villains Lex Luthor, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, Black Manta and Reverse Flash. It also includes some awesome, super rare variants. It’s so great to see a DC Universe series that doesn’t just focus on the Bat-family of characters!

Released in two different colorways (Standard Edition and Metallic Variant), the Deathstroke Pop! vinyl figure is a Previews Exclusive meaning it can only be purchased through comic book and specialty stores that order from Previews. The Blot’s pretty excited about this release, I just wish he wasn’t wearing his costume from DC’s “New 52” reboot. Deathstroke looked so much cooler back in the day!

DC Comics Interchangeable Magnetic Vinyl Figures by Funko

Funko has unveiled its newest line of collectible figures, and they’re kicking things off with a wave of DC Comics characters. Unfortunately the name for this line, Interchangeable Magnetic Vinyl Figures, doesn’t really roll off the tongue! Each figure stands 3.75” tall and features magnetic parts, so that you can switch out a character’s head, arms and legs with other figures in the toy line to create your own mish-mash of DC Comics characters.

Arrow Season 2 Teaser TV Poster

The first new television poster for season 2 of The CW’s Arrow and The Blot is pumped for this show’s return! It’s weird because I could never get into The CW’s Superman show Smallville, but this Green Arrow show has me hooked (and I’m not a GA fan). What’s amazing about this show is how far it’s grown in just one year. The creators of Arrow did an amazing job gradually telling Oliver Queen’s transformation from spoiled rich kid into deadly hooded vigilante.

Not only that, but they substantially grew the cast through great storytelling, which is so rare these days. The addition of Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak, Manu Bennett’s Deathstroke/Slade Wilson and Colton Haynes’s Roy Harper (all three are featured prominently on the Series 2 one sheet television poster above) as series regulars felt organic instead of forced down our throats like on so many other TV shows. The only shocking part of the new Arrow Season 2 teaser poster is the omission of the Lance family! Laurel and Detective Quentin Lance are nowhere to be found. Here’s hoping poor Dinah is safe and sound in Star City. 

Arrow returns to The CW with its Season 2 premiere on Wednesday, October 9th at 8/7c.

SDCC 13 First Look: DC Comics Arrow Action Figure 2 Pack - Green Arrow & Deathstroke

If like The Blot you’re loving The CW’s newest DC Universe television show Arrow then you’re really going to love the new Arrow toy line by DC Collectibles that debuted this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2013! To kick things off, DC Collectibles will be releasing an awesome Arrow Action Figure 2 Pack that includes The Hood (aka Green Arrow) and Deathstroke. DC Collectibles did an amazing job basing the look of these 6.75” action figures on the characters’ appearances in hit television show. No word on when these figures will be hitting store shelves, but expect more information on TheBlotSays.com once it’s announced!

MK vs. DCU - Bring On The Villains

Did The Blot call this one or what? Ok so Raiden isn’t exactly a villain, but he is now included in the upcoming Midway game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. I could have sworn I read somewhere there was only going to be 16 playable characters, 8 from each universe, but boy am I glad that I was wrong.


As for the villains I alluded to in the title of this post, there were two additional villains added to the list of MK vs. DCU’s playable characters. Along with Raiden, you will also be able to play as Mortal Kombat’s knife wielding villain Kano. The other villain added to the game is one I never expected to see in the game, the DC Comics villain Deathstroke.


Over the past few years Deathstroke has grown into one of the premier villains of the DC Universe and is now always included in the upper echelon of DC’s villain brain trust. Even with that being said, Deathstroke the Terminator has never been a mainstream DC character. I do think the Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans cartoon has vastly improved Deathstroke’s marketability, but he still is not on the same level as other popular villains like The Joker, Lex Luthor, The Riddler or even Wonder Woman's foe the Cheetah.


I cannot explain how excited I am that DC decided to include good old Slade Wilson in MK vs. DCU. Deathstroke was made for this type of fighting game and I am pretty excited to one day play as Deathstroke against the likes of Batman, Green Lantern, Scorpion and Shang Tsung.
