Batkid Begins Documentary Movie Poster by Drew Struzan
If you’re not familiar with the inspirational story of Miles Scott aka Batkid, then you must have been living under a rock in 2013! Batkid Begins is a documentary that takes you back to November 15th, 2013, the day San Francisco turned into Gotham City. Who would have thought a 5 year old boy who fought leukemia would transform a city and a nation for a day? Thousands of volunteers who came from near and far to help make his wish come true, and it did!
Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around The World is a documentary that explores how and why this little caped crusader resonated with so many people. It’s truly a heartwarming, feel good story of how our society came together to make a little boy’s dream come true. It even touched world-renowned movie poster artist Drew Struzan, who came out of retirement to design the amazing movie poster you see above for the documentary. So check out the documentary’s trailer above and make sure you check out a screening of this awesome film.

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
This is one of those unexpected releases that totally blows The Blot’s mind. As a huge Pearl Jam fan I’m always excited about new PJ merchandise, but I never thought I’d be drinking official Pearl Jam beer. Eddie Vedder wine possibly, but definitely not beer. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is proud to announce the release of Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale!
Faithfull Ale is a celebration of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary as a band and its extraordinary debut album Ten. In recognition of these milestones, this Belgian-style golden ale is delicately hopped to 20 IBUs and fruit-forward from 10 incremental additions of black currants over a one-hour boil. Faithfull will clock in at 7% ABV. I have no idea what most of that means, but I’ll definitely be hunting for a 6-pack of Faithfull Ale in the next few weeks. It officially started shipping to all of the states in which Dogfish Head currently does business last week.
As Dogfish Head President & Founder Sam Calagione stated in the Faithful Ale press release, "To me, Ten is the perfect example of a record-lover's-record. The whole thing rocks. As an off-centered brewery, we believe in celebrating the breadth of our whole portfolio and we feel an affinity for Pearl Jam a long-player band in a singles-obsessed world."
Dogfish Head also found inspiration in Pearl Jam's ethics, community-building and commitment to putting music before commerce. In recognition of this refreshing approach, Dogfish is donating $20,000 to The Nature Conservancy to aide in its efforts to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth.
Please drink responsibly!

Pearl Jam Twenty Documentary by Cameron Crowe World Premiere

Today is a big day for The Blot as it marks the world premiere of the new Pearl Jam documentary PJ20 directed by Cameron Crowe, which highlights the Seattle band’s twenty year career. Cities all around the globe are hosting one night only screenings of PJ20, to see if there is a theater near you (and if tickets are still available) click here. As you all probably know, The Blot is a lifelong diehard Pearl Jam fan, so of course I bought tickets for Houston’s screening of the film as soon as they went on sale. It’s hard to believe the band has already been around for twenty years! I still remember where I was when I heard the band’s debut album Ten for the very first time. I was 12 years old and at summer camp, and my life would never be the same again…
If you’re not familiar with Pearl Jam Twenty, it chronicles the years leading up to the band’s formation, the chaos that ensued soon after their rise to mega-stardom, their step back from center state, and the creation of a trusted circle that would surround them…giving way to a work culture that would sustain them for two decades. Told in big themes and bold colors with blistering sound, the film is carved from over 1,200 hours of rarely seen and never before seen footage spanning the band’s career. Pearl Jam Twenty is the definitive portrait of Pearl Jam: part concert film, part intimate insider-hang, part testimonial to the power of music and uncompromising artists.
To coincide with the documentary, Pearl Jam has also released a Pearl Jam Twenty hardcover book ($22) that chronicles the band’s past two decades with a forward by Crowe, an official Pearl Jam Twenty Soundtrack ($16), which includes 2 cds and 29 tracks of rare and unreleased recordings, and the official Pearl Jam Twenty DVD for $14.
