Military MAD*L Custom Vinyl Figure by DrilOne

Custom Military MAD*L 6” Vinyl Figure by DrilOne

Check out this seriously amazing custom Military MAD*L vinyl figure DrilOne just dropped in his online store! The Blot is constantly blown away by Dril’s custom pieces, and this 6” MAD*L is a perfect example of why. I don’t know how Dril can transform a vinyl figure into looking like a rusted, worn and weathered metal military vehicle, but he does it every time! And just look at all the insane sculpting Dril added to this piece. Many try to duplicate Dril’s signature style of painting and sculpting, but he’s truly made this military look all his own.

This Military MAD*L custom vinyl figure is currently available online in the DrilOne online store for $300.

Cold-Casted Aluminum Drones by DrilOne

Cold-Casted Aluminum Drones by DrilOne

DrilOne continues his run of amazing cold-casted metal figures with a wave of Aluminum Drones! These epic handmade figures are a mixture of real aluminum metal powder and resin. What a killer idea, which turned out fantastic. Because of how complicated these are to make, Dril will be releasing these in batches. The first run of 1.5” Cold-Casted Aluminum Drones (which retailed for just $30) are now sold out, but look for the next small batch to drop soon at the DrilOne online store. There is, however, one gigantic 4” Drone still available for $300!

DrilOne’s “Greetings from Hell” Solo Art Exhibit at Dragatomi

DrilOne “Greetings from Hell” Solo Art Exhibit at Dragatomi Flyer

This Saturday, September 10th (that’s 9.10.11 to the cool kids), Dragatomi will be hosting DrilOne’s all new solo show “Greetings from Hell”. As an artist, DrilOne has mastered the art of elemental wear and corrosion, transforming plastic, vinyl and wood into corroded metal before our very eyes! And while he’s not the first to master this style (Mother Nature is also proficient at it), Drils has definitely taken it and made it a style all his own.

“Greetings from Hell” Solo Art Exhibit - Custom Vinyl Figures by DrilOne

DrilOne has pulled out all the stops for his upcoming solo custom figure art show. His works will feature his rusty style on several different platforms, from 3” and 8” Dunnys to a 16” Custom Toyer Qee. He has even customized an antique inspired sign and a vintage radio! The “Greetings from Hell” opening reception is this Saturday, September 10th at 7 pm and will continue to run until October 1st at Dragatomi in Sacramento, CA.

Custom Android Blind Box Series by DrilOne

Custom Android Blind Box Series by DrilOne - Military Android, Vintage Android & Radioactive Android

This Custom Android blind box release by DrilOne has to be one of the coolest custom series The Blot’s seen in a while. Yes artists do custom series all the time, but in reality those are more like sets. Here DrilOne took a case of Android vinyl figures, customized the entire case and gave each design its own ratio…in essence creating a legitimate blind box custom series all by the same artist! According to the video seen below, there are 16 figures in all with a total of 6 designs (Military, Vintage, Radioactive, No Trespassing and 2 Mystery Chase Figures), and each design seriously looks better than the last. How can you buy just one!?!

The Custom Android Blind Box Series by DrilOne goes on sale today, Wednesday, June 1st, at noon PDT exclusively at Dragatomi. Each blind box retails for $70.

First Look: Dunny Series 2011

First Look - Dunny Series 2011 Checklist and Ratios

In case you haven’t seen this yet, here’s the first leak of Kidrobot’s upcoming Dunny Series 2011 (with ratios included). The Blot’s REALLY excited about this series because Kidrobot has included a number of designs by popular artists from the designer toy community who have never had a figure produced by KR before. There are so many artists who create truly amazing work in our toy community, and it’s great to finally see some of those names included in a Dunny series. The visibility and notoriety an artist receives through their inclusion in a Dunny series is unrivaled, and I’m glad so many new artists are getting the opportunity to share their work with the world.

From the small photo above, I’ve been able to make out designs by DrilOne, Squink, Le Merde, 64 Colors, Travis Lampe and Besto. I am also pretty sure two of the Dunnys on the bottom row were designed by MAD and the Dunnys in the bottom right corner were designed by Huck Gee. Who else can you spot in the leaked photo above???

SDCC 2010 Exclusive Customs by DrilOne

San Franscico artist DrilOne has put together some killer customs for San Diego Comic-Con 2010 and The Blot is a little disappointed I won’t be there to see them in person (especially those Rose Vampires).

What’s great about Dril’s trademark rusty military style is that it looks great on almost any designer vinyl figure, which can be seen in the huge diversity of figures Dril customized for SDCC 2010. Things you never imagined would look good as a military weapon of mass destruction, like an Ugly Doll, Frank Kozik’s Usagi-Gon or a Big Sal, come out looking incredibly authentic as rusty old war relics.

DrilOne’s San Diego Comic-Con 2010 exclusive custom figures will be available for sale at the Dragatomi SDCC booth #3848. Stop by booth #3848 to meet DrilOne and pick up one of these great customs.
