SDCC 2021 Exclusive “Sid Krofft: My World On A String” Fine Art Giclee Print by Sam Gilbey x Road Crates

Road Crates is participating in ComicCon@Home this year with the release of this really cool Diego Comic-Con 2021 Exclusive “Sid Krofft: My World On A String” Fine Art Giclee Print by Sam Gilbey! This timed edition print pays homage to Sid’s life long career as a puppeteer. If you grew up in the ‘70s, you’re definitely familiar with the Saturday Morning creations of Sid & Marty Krofft. From H.R. Pufnstuf, The Bugaloos, Lidsville, Sigmund & the Sea Monsters, and Land of the Lost to the countless other shows and films they’ve produced over the past 50+ years. Sid Krofft is now almost 92 years old and still producing new shows and amazing entertainment, including his weekly live Instagram chat he does with celebrity guests. 

Sid Krofft: My World On A String by Sam Gilbey is a 12”x18” fine art giclee on Signa Smooth 300gsm archival cotton rag paper. It is a timed edition available now through 11:59pm on Sunday, July 25th, at RoadCrates.com.  The Unsigned Edition is $50, while the Signed Edition is $75.

DCon Exclusive Sleestak Flocked Black Light Screen Print by Marty Krofft

This is one of those announcements that really makes The Blot sad I’m missing Designer Con this year. That’s because legendary children’s television creator Marty Krofft will be at DCon this Saturday, November 11th, from 1-3pm!!! How freaking cool is that!?! Marty will be at the convention to sign this fantastic Designer Con 2017 Exclusive Sleestak Flocked Black Light Screen Print at DCon booth #712. This trippy new prints are an 18”x24” signed and numbered screen print limited to just 100 pieces.

Marty will also be bringing with him an extremely limited amount of the Toy Tokyo NYCC Exclusive Land of the Lost Sleestak and Enik Funko Pop! figures, which will be signed and numbered by Mr. Krofft, along with some other goodies from the Krofft archives. This is one appearance Krofft fans will not want to miss! A portion of all proceeds from Marty’s appearance at DCon will go to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He will even sign outside items or take photos with a $20 donation (per item/photo) to Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

SDCC 12 Exclusive Prints by Tom Whalen, Tim Doyle & Dave Perillo - Yo Gabba Gabba, Land of the Lost & The Aquabats

Huckleberry has partnered up with the fine folks of toddland to bring a whole new level of radness to San Diego Comic-Con 2012! With awesome artist friends like Tom Whalen, Tim Doyle, and Dave Perillo, toddland has a roster of some pretty special limited edition prints lined up for release at Huckleberry’s SDCC booth #3449. As always with toddland everything is super limited, and with Yo Gabba Gabba, The Aquabats, Land of the Lost and H.R. Pufnstuf in the mix, you know these releases will definitely not last long!

First up is this killer Land of the Lost print by Tom Whalen! The Regular Edition Green Land of the Lost print has a limited edition run size of 125 pieces and will retail for $60 each, while the Purple Variant Edition has a limited edition run size of 75 pieces and will retail for $85 each.

Next is Tim Doyle’s pretty awesome Muno Yo Gabba Gabba! print. This is actually the first in a new series of Yo Gabba Gabba! prints by the Austin artist and I can’t wait to see what Tim comes up with next. The Regular Edition Yo Gabba Gabba! Muno print has a limited edition run size of 130 pieces and will retail for $40 each, while the Glow in the Dark Variant Edition has a limited edition run size of 30 pieces and will retail for $60 each.

Last but not least are two fun prints by Dave Perillo, which really show off his unique style. Dave’s The Aquabats! Regular Edition print has a limited edition run size of 150 pieces and will retail for $25 each, while The Sandfleas Variant Edition has a limited edition run size of 40 pieces and will retail for $35 each.

The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien Premieres Tonight

Tonight Conan O’Brien takes over the hosting duties of NBC’s The Tonight Show, the third longest running television program now in its 54th season. Conan is only the show’s fifth host ever, and he has some pretty big shoes to fill considering The Tonight Show has been hosted by four true legends in the television industry: Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.

I had a buddy ask me why I didn’t mention that last Friday was Jay Leno’s final show, and I think part of the reason was because Leno’s not going anywhere. It’s not like when Carson retired and he was never heard from again. With Leno just basically moving time slots (he’ll be hosting an all new show airing five days a week at 10/9c on NBC in the fall), his leaving of The Tonight Show has lost much of its luster. It’s really too bad his departure from The Tonight Show hasn't gotten more publicity, because as host for the past 17 years he has dominated the ratings and the competition. Oh well…Leno’s out and Conan’s in.

The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien debuts tonight, Monday, June 1st, on NBC at 11:35/10:35c. Conan’s first guest will be Land of the Lost’s Will Ferrell and first musical guest will be Pearl Jam.

The Lonely Island - Incredibad

The second release The Blot has been dying to get his hands on comes from the sketch comedy troupe The Lonely Island. The Blot’s been obsessed with The Lonely Island ever since I first found out about them back in 2005. At that time a relative unknown named Andy Samberg had just joined the cast of Saturday Night Live while his comedy partners, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, had been added to the show’s writing staff.


I wanted to find out more about these guys and stumbled upon The Lonely Island website. The rest of that afternoon Aly and I watched way too many video clips on their site like Awesometown, a failed FOX pilot, and The ‘Bu, a prime time teen drama spoof that co-starred Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke. I thought Samberg, Jorma and Akiva (also known as The Dudes) were hilarious, but their comedy style isn’t for everyone. I think if Aly never had to see another episode of The ‘Bu she’d die a happy woman.

Since joining SNL, The Dudes have exploded. Their SNL Digital Shorts have become internet sensations and they have even started to appear in movie (Hot Rod, I Love You, Man and Land of the Lost). But it’s their debut album Incredibad that has The Blot really excited. The album collects all of their extremely catchy and popular SNL Digital Short songs, including their first breakout hit “Lazy Sunday” featuring Chris Parnel, the Justin Timberlake assisted “Dick in a Box,” and their newest hit song “Jizz In My Pants.”


The Blot would probably buy a CD of just their Digital Short songs, but they’ve taken it one step further by writing all new material and collaborating with legitimate artists. You’ve gotta love when you a couple of comedians can convince Norah Jones and T-Pain to perform on a silly album like Incredibad. The double disk release includes one CD and one DVD, which features many of their SNL music videos and some all new content. I haven’t heard a lot of the new material, but I’m sure it’s going to be funny.

Land of the Lost Teaser Movie Poster

The Blot hates remakes…end of story. They typically bring nothing to the table and many times hurt the legacy of the original material. I really just don’t understand where all the creativity in Hollywood has gone. With that being said, I’m kind of excited about Will Ferrell’s upcoming remake of Sid and Marty Krofft’s classic children’s television show Land of the Lost.


Why you might ask would The Blot be excited about this remake? Because unlike so many other properties, Ferrell’s unique brand of comedy was made for the Krofft’s kooky/trippy 70’s style. Plus, I love that the movie appears to be staying true to the original Land of the Lost by giving its non-human characters that classic clunky Krofft look, latex rubber suits and all. Now if only we can get a big budget remake of H.R. Pufnstuf!

Land of the Lost stars Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny R. McBride and Jorma Taccone, and is Directed by Brad Silberling. It will debut in theaters on June 5, 2009.
