Superman “Man of Steel” Screen Print by Dan Mumford x French Paper Art Club

Superman “Man of Steel” Screen Print by Dan Mumford x French Paper Art Club

Check out this beautiful new Man of Steel movie poster by artist Dan Mumford and French Paper Art Club! I don’t think the destruction of Krypton has ever looked so majestic. It’s an interesting take on Zack Snyder’s much derided film, and yet a very important (albeit tragic) moment in Superman’s life.

As Mumford explained, “With this piece we thought it would be nice to tackle something a little different within the Superman Mythos. The way Man of Steel showed this beautifully crafted world of Krypton fascinated me, and it was a shame we spent so little time there in the film. So with this I wanted to pay tribute to the beginning of Man of Steel and the tragic moment as his mother watches the end of her world and Kal-El disappears into the sky.”

Man of Steel by Dan Mumford is an 18”x24” signed and numbered seven color Superman screen print. Limited to just 180 pieces, collectors can purchase this officially licensed DC Comics movie poster now at the French Paper Art Club online store for €45.

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Banners

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters - You Are Not Alone - Henry Cavill as Superman

The Blot can’t believe it’s finally opening weekend of Man of Steel, Superman’s long awaited return to the theaters. It seems like forever since Brandon Routh donned the red and blue tights and cape doesn’t it? Well, now it’s Henry Cavill’s turn and based on all of the early film reviews this movie is going to be a HUGE hit for Warner Bros and DC Comics!

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters - You Are Not Alone - Michael Shannon as General Zod

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters - You Are Not Alone - Russell Crowe as Jor-El

I do love these Man of Steel Character Movie Banners even though they’re not all that different than the Man of Steel Character Movie Posters. I like how they play up the Superman’s alien origin through the banners’ text of “You Are Not Alone.” Plus Michael Shannon as General Zod looks so freaking menacing! Russell Crowe also looks pretty bad ass as Superman’s father Jor-El. That’s one character I never though could look particularly “cool”.

This Superman Man of Steel Mini Mez-Itz 3 Pack includes three of the film’s most iconic characters Henry Cavill’ Suerpman, Michael Shannon’s evil General Zod and Russell Crowe’s Jor-El (Superman’s Kryptonian birth father). The Blot is really digging these movie inspired figures, I just wish they were full sized 6” Mez-Itz and not these 2” min figures. From the photo even Superman’s vinyl cape looks really well made!

This San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Superman Man of Steel DC Universe Mini Mez-Itz 3 Pack includes three 2” vinyl figure, each featuring 5 points of articulation, and comes packaged in a collector friendly window box. Superman Man of Steel Screen Prints by Ken Taylor & Martin Ansin

Superman Man of Steel Standard Edition Screen Print by Ken Taylor

This weekend Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated live action Superman movie Man of Steel finally hits theaters and The Blot is super excited! The film’s been getting rave reviews and this might be just the kick start the DC movie universe needed to get a Justice League film off the ground. To celebrate the film’s release Mondo will be releasing two amazing Man of Steel screen prints tomorrow by Ken Taylor and Martin Ansin!

Superman Man of Steel Variant Screen Print by Ken Taylor

First up is Ken Taylor masterful illustration of a young Clark during simpler times. “Man of Steel” by Ken Taylor is a 20”x36” numbered screen print. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 300 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Variant has a limited edition run size of 150 pieces and will retail for $75 each. This print goes on sale at a random time Thursday, June 13th, at the Mondo online store.

Superman Man of Steel Timed Release Edition Screen Print by Martin Ansin

While Ken Taylor’s Man of Steel print is fun, Martin Ansin’s print is freaking mind blowing!!! Just look at all that Superman goodness. Seriously, his Superman is right up there with Alex Ross’ rendition in my mind of iconic Supermans. What’s even cooler about this release is it will be a Timed Release Edition! Similar to last summer’s The Dark Knight Rises” print by Olly Moss, this “Man of Steel” release by Martin Ansin will be available to anyone who orders one within the 3 day period it’ll be made available for purchase. As opposed to an open edition print where they keep printing copies for years, this release will still be limited with its run size capped at the number of people who order a copy.

Superman Man of Steel Metal Variant Screen Print by Martin Ansin

Man of Steel by Martin Ansin is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print, and will go on sale at the Mondo online store for 3 days beginning at 12:01am CST on Friday, June 14th, and the sale will be open until 12:01am on Monday, June 17th. But wait, that’s not all! Mondo will also be releasing a rare Metal Variant that will be limited to just 130 pieces and retail for $300. This epic print will go on sale Friday as well at a random time.

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Posters - Henry Cavill as Superman

The Blot’s been waiting for some really cool character movie posters for this summer’s Man of Steel and they’re finally here! Surprisingly all of the film’s promotional posters seem to only focus on Henry Cavill’s Superman, Michael Shannon’s General Zod and Russell Crowe’s Jor-El. But where’s my poster featuring Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne’s Perry White or Kevin Costner as Jonathan “Pa” Kent!?! I really can’t believe how little the film’s marketing campaign is focusing on Adams’ Lois Lane. Here’s hoping this film does gangbusters this weekend in the theaters so we can get a sequel!

New Superman Man of Steel Movie Posters

Superman Man of Steel Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

Superman Man of Steel Theatrical Movie Banner

It’s not quite summer yet, but the summer movie season is already in high gear with huge films like Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness in theaters. So far most of the summer’s big films are getting pretty mixed reviews, and The Blot’s super interested to hear what fans think about Zach Snyder’s upcoming Superman live action film Man of Steel. The trailers look cool, but they’re not really what I’m looking for from a Superman film. However, these one sheet movie posters look epic. I love how iconic the posters look, and that’s what I want in a classic DC Comics Superman story (that and Lex Luthor and/or Braniac as the villain). There’s no more iconic hero than Kal-El and his films need to exude that feeling.

Superman Man of Steel Wacky Wobbler Bobble Heads by Funko

Superman Man of Steel Wacky Wobbler Bobble Heads by Funko

The more The Blot sees of Zack Snyder’s Superman film Man of Steel the more I really want to see it! No one has had more of an up and down career than Zack Snyder, but for some strange reason Warner Bros trusts him enough to reboot one of their most iconic characters. I don’t get it and have zero faith in the WB, but hopefully the film will be good regardless. Either way these Man of Steel Wacky Wobbler Bobble Heads by Funko look great! I don’t love the Superman costume, but General Zod looks pretty bad ass don’t you think!?!

Each Man of Steel Movie Wacky Wobbler Bobble Head by Funko stands 7” tall and comes packaged in a full color window box. While these figures are not scheduled to fly into store shelves until May 2013, you can pre-order both from Entertainment Earth for $12.99 each here.

Superman: Man of Steel Official Trailer #3

The Blot’s got no idea of Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel is going to be a good movie or not, but this trailer is so freaking awesome on a number of different levels. Pretty much all of my issues with the film’s first two trailers have been resolved and the story actually seems interesting now. Even Henry Cavill looks like DC Comics' Superman, although I still hate his hair.

Superman: Man of Steel Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures by Funko

Man of Steel Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures by Funko - Superman & General Zod

The Blot’s been dying to see these new Man of Steel Pop! DC Universe vinyl figures ever since Funko originally announced they had acquired the license for the film. While these movie accurate Superman and General Zod figures look great, I’m still not in love with Supes' look in Man of Steel. The film’s costume is definitely better his “New 52” costume in the DC comic books (although what’s up with all that texture), but I really hate his hair. I know that’s a little thing (maybe it’s hair envy?), but it just looks so big. It almost needs its own cape!

The Man of Steel Pop! Heroes vinyl figures by Funko stand 3.75” tall, feature one point of articulation, and come packaged in a full color displayable window box. While the film doesn’t premiere in theaters until June 14th, these heroic Pop!s will hit store shelves on April 11th! Pre-order yours today from Entertainment Earth for $9.99 each here.

Man of Steel First Full Trailer

As a kid The Blot was a huge Superman fan. But over the past ten years I’ve really fallen out of love with the character. There has been a huge mismanagement of the character by all parties involved, Warner Bros and DC Comics primarily. It makes me sad that we live in a world where Superman isn’t the biggest thing going (at least in the world of super heroes). He’s the living embodiment of truth, justice and the American way for goodness sake!

While I typically enjoy Zach Snyder films, I have no faith in Warner Bros that Man of Steel will be good, even with a pretty cool first trailer. I guess I just don’t understand why they took things in this direction with a Superman movie. I know the WB is trying to re-capture the look and feel of Nolan’s Batman trilogy, but shouldn’t a Superman film be all about bright colored costumes and action!?! Where’s a bright green Braniac or the Toyman? This movie better be good or we may never see another big budget DC Comics live action movie.

Man of Steel is scheduled to swoop into theaters on June 14, 2013.

New Man of Steel Teaser Movie Poster

Man

When The Blot first heard Warner Bros. released a new Man of Steel teaser poster yesterday I got really excited…but then I saw it. Superman in handcuffs being led away by the police just doesn’t get me excited for the film like a teaser one sheet movie poster should. Obviously Superman’s letting them “capture” him because we all know he could easily break those cuffs and fly away. I guess they’re trying to get us to want to know more, but it’s not working.  I'm pretty sure the marketing department of DC Comics could come up with something better than this! The weird suit is growing on me though.

Man of Steel Teaser Movie Poster & Trailers

Man of Steel Teaser Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

Everyone seems to be going gaga over this Man of Steel teaser poster from San Diego Comic-Con 2012, and the film’s teaser trailers which debuted before The Dark Knight Rises. But honestly, neither really blow me away. The Blot likes that they tried to do something different with the teaser trailer and the poster does a good job showcasing Superman’s new suit, but I’d still be willing to bed money this film stinks. Nothing Warner Bros or DC Comics has done has shown me they know how to produce a kick ass super hero film not directed by Christopher Nolan.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Zack Snyder and they did the smart thing by keeping Nolan involved. But it’s not like Snyder’s last two live action films, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, were critical or commercial successes. Maybe I’m just bitter at how horribly mistreated the Superman franchise has been for the past 20 years, but this film better be freaking amazing! And I better not hear one peep about a Justice League movie if Man of Steel is not HUGE next summer.

Man of Steel First Look: Henry Cavill as Superman

Click on the image above for a more detailed look
Here is the moment we’ve all been waiting for, our very first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in the upcoming film Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder. I was a little unsure about the look at first, but once I really had time to digest it I absolutely loved it! I’m digging the S shield and the cape and think the new darkened color scheme really works.

I do miss Superman’s trademark hair curl, and was very skeptical of the textured (almost chainmail looking) suit, but I think it makes sense. Superman’s body is indestructible and he needs a costume that can take the same beating. At least it isn’t armored like Superman’s costume in the new DC Universe debuting in September's comic books! Here’s my only question, is his red underwear gone? I can’t tell from the photo above.

Man of Steel also stars Amy Adams as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as her editor-in-chief Perry White, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Superman’s adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent. Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Russell Crowe. Rounding out the cast are Harry Lennix as U.S. military man General Swanwick, as well as Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.

Man of Steel is slated for release on June 14, 2013.
