The NBA’s 2020 All Star Game took place in Chicago last night, and to commemorate the big game Tracy Tubera released the second colorway of his epic Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls inspired The G.O.A.T. resin figure! Tracy Tubera has revealed his newest original resin figure, The G.O.A.T.! Inspired by arguably the greatest basketball player (and sneaker spokesperson) of all time, Michael Jordan, The G.O.A.T. is a 10” tall, hand crafted full resin art sculpture with a glossy finish. This figure is based on Tubera’s previously released GOAT print. For it’s first colorway, The G.O.A.T. is being released in a Designer Con 2019 Exclusive Chicago Red Edition, which pays homage to Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.

This amazing piece is limited to just 23 pieces and will retail for $225. Matt Turney (of Brand New Intention) has teamed up with Rufnek to produce a pretty cool pop culture inspired t-shirt entitled “Grape Ape”! This epic design combines Hanna-Barbera’s Grape Ape (a hugely under appreciated cartoon character in The Blot’s opinion) recreating the iconic Michael Jordan Wheaties cereal box that featured MJ wearing his Grape Air Jordan Vs. New Dunkeys Vinyl Figures by CoolRain

Korean artist CoolRain is teaming up with MINDstyle once again, this time to release production versions of his popular Dunkeys figures. Inspired by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, Dunkeys are monkeys who dunk sporting NBA game apparel. While I hate Michael Jordan (hey, The Blot’s a Lakers fan), I kinda dig these figures…much more so than the blind boxed NBA line CoolRain released through MINDstyle last year. At least these Dunkeys have some originality to them. My primary issue with these vinyl figures is the same issue I had with that NBA series; their hands, arms and bodies look too much like Michael Lau creations.

CoolRain's “Dunkeys 23” (the first picture above) is an 18” production figure with a limited edition run size of just 300 pieces and retails for $275. CoolRain's “Dunkeys Triple Threat” is a series of three Chicago Bulls inspired 5” Dunkeys, each sold separately. Dunkeys 23 “Pithecuse”, Dunkeys 91 “Simius”, and Dunkeys 3 “Mono” each have a limited edition run size of 500 pieces and retail for $40 each. All four figures are currently available for pre-order and officially go on sale at retails worldwide on September 29th.

Threadless Star Trek: TNG x Nike T-Shirt “Air Geordi”

While The Blot’s never been much of a Trekkie, I have always loved Star Trek: The Next Generation. As a kid I probably watched every episode of TNG 2 or 3 times, but nowadays I’d struggle to get through an entire episode. With that being said, I still hold the cast and crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation in high regard and absolutely love this new Threadless design "Air Geordi". This mashup of Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge (played by fan favorite LeVar Burton) with Michael Jordan’s signature “Air Jordan” Nike logo is utter genius. How many t-shirt designs out there can appeal to both geeks and sneaker heads all at the same time? It is also probably one of the few Threadless t-shirts I’ve ordered on the spot!

The Star Trek: TNG t-shirt “Air Geordi” comes printed on a silver t-shirt for guys and a creme t-shirt for girls, and is currently available for purchase at Threadless.com for $20. The shirt comes in both guys and girls styles, sizes S-2XL.

Johnny Cupcakes x NBA The Dream Team T-Shirts

The Blot is a huge fan of the NBA, so these Johnny Cupcakes Dream Team t-shirts, an unofficial tie-in with the Association, automatically becomes one of The Blot’s favorite JC releases. Released just in time for this past weekend’s NBA All-Star Game, the first three t-shirts features the Johnny Cupcakes mascot Big Kid re-imagined as three of the greatest NBA players of all time: Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.




The second batch of Johnny Cupcakes x NBA Dream Team t-shirts are tributes to two of the league’s two most decorated franchises, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. These are also happened to be the only two cities that have Johnny Cupcakes retail locations. As a Lakers fan I especially like JC’s Dunkin’ Desserts Until It Hurts LA tee, and will probably have to order one when it goes on sale sometime this week.



The Johnny Cupcakes Dream Team t-shirts will all be available for purchase at the Johnny Cupcakes online store early this week; however most of these should be available in stores right now. The Big Kid Jordan is an online exclusive, while the two Celtics themed shirts will be available at Johnny Cupcakes Boston and the two Lakers themed shirts will be available at Johnny Cupcakes Los Angeles.

Michael Jordan x Upper Deck x OBEY Giant BULLS Print by Shepard Fairey

Tomorrow is the 2009 Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony and it’s going to be a big one! Not only are “The Admiral” David Robinson, John Stockton, Coach Jerry Sloan and Coach C. Vivian Stringer being inducted, but so is Number 23, Michael Jordan. To commemorate the induction of arguably the greatest player to ever lace up a pair of sneakers into the Basketball HOF, Upper Deck is re-teaming with OBEY Giant artist Shepard Fairey to release a series of Michael Jordan screen prints.


This is actually the second time Fairey has collaborated on a series of prints with Upper Deck. The first series of prints featured LA Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and were entitled KOBE, MVP and GOLD. Right now not much is known about this first print in the upcoming Michael Jordan x Upper Deck x OBEY Giant Hall of Fame tribute series, including price or release date. What The Blot does know is that it is entitled "BULLS" and will measure 26”x36” and should be dropping sometime soon.

If I had to guess, I’d say there will be two editions of each print released similar to the UD x OG Kobe prints, a dual signed print autographed by both MJ and Shep and a single signed print autographed only by Shepard. Knowing how much Upper Deck authenticated Michael Jordan signed memorabilia runs for, I feel pretty confident in saying the dual signed prints will cost a pretty penny.

The Blot’s never collected any of Veggiesomething’s House of Liu vinyl figures before, but I thought this NYCC Exclusive Baby Monk Yoto vinyl figure with its NBA inspired apparel was too awesome to ignore. Produced in conjunction with Crazy Label and myplasticheart, Baby Monk Yoto is the first 3 inch Baby Monk every created and is inspired by the Lunar New Year and one of the NBA's greatest players ever, Michael Jeffrey Jordan. What’s even cooler about this golden Baby Monk is that it’s Chicago Bulls inspired warm up suit was designed by kaNO!
