kaNO’s signature figure, the Moneygrip, returns this Friday for a very special Black Friday release! This was one of the first vinyl figures The Blot discovered when I first got into the designer art toy scene, and I love that kaNO’s finally bringing back this iconic figure. For the blackest of Fridays, kaNO hand painted a super limited run of these “Black on Black” Moneygrip vinyl figures. Boy does this sculpt look sharp in two shades of black!

kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tints

The kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tints The Blot mentioned a few months ago are finally being released this week. I had no idea when I first heard about the kaNO x Argonaut Resin collaboration how limited edition these awesome see through Moneygrips would be. I figured at the very least there would be a set of each colorway. But as it turns out there is not going to be a Moneygrip Tints phase 2 or phase 3, there are only the 4 one of a kind pieces seen in the pictures below. So once these sold out they’ll be gone forever.


For this collaboration there was one tinted Moneygrip produced in red, blue, yellow, and green. There was supposed to be a purple tinted Moneygrip, however the mold broke so it's not happening.


Each kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tint figure comes in a box painted and signed by kaNO and will be sold for $125.00. The figures go on sale this Wednesday, April 8th at 12pm EST at The Argonaut online store.

Sneak Peek: New Clear Tint Moneygrip Vinyl Figures by kaNO and Argonaut Resins

Here’s some really exciting news that kaNO himself leaked out just last night! Coming in 2009 we can expect the release of at least two all new Moneygrip vinyl figures. In conjunction with Argonaut Resins comes what looks like two clear resin Moneygrip colorways, tourmaline and aquamarine.


That’s all we know for now about these clear tint resin figures, but as more details leak out The Blot will be sure to spread the word. Looks like 2009 will be a very exciting year for fans of kaNO’s Moneygrip line of designer vinyl figures!

Stealth Moneygrip by kaNO

This is Part 3 of The Blot’s 5 part series on Comic Book Inspired Designer Vinyl Figure Colorways.

The Blot has been waiting to talk about this particular vinyl figure for a while now. kaNO’s Moneygrip is a really unique platform and I have absolutely loved all of the line’s different colorways. Even the customs I’ve seen have blown me away, and that’s really saying something because the Moneygrip platform is somewhat limiting as to surface space. But the best Moneygrip I’ve ever seen is a production piece entitled Stealth Moneygrip.


Why you might ask is the Stealth Moneygrip so damn cool? Because the Stealth colorway is based on the greatest arms dealer the world has ever know, Destro. kaNO has taken the coolest Cobra villain of them all and transformed him perfectly into a Moneygrip. It’s all there, the shiny metallic head, the all black outfit and even the pimp 70’s style popped out red collar. The only thing the character is missing is Destro’s signature ruby red pendant.

Ok, I know some readers might balk at my inclusion of the Moneygrip Stealth colorway into The Blot’s Comic Book Inspired Colorways Week, but to me G.I. Joe is a comic book property. While G.I. Joe obviously started as just a toy line, in the 80’s the Real American Hero toy line evolved into so much more (including a successful cartoon and a popular, long running comic book series). In fact, even after the cartoons were canceled and the toy lines became almost non-existent, it was the comic book lines from Marvel, Image and Devil’s Due that kept the property alive. Therefore, I am proud to include this Destro tribute colorway as part of this week long feature.


All of kaNO’s Moneygrip designer vinyl figures stand 5 inches tall. The OG Moneygrip retails for around $50 and is limited to just 250 pieces, while the Stealth Moneygrip retails for between $45 to $55 dollars and has a limited run of just 100 figures.
