Eddie Vedder (2002) Portrait Art Print by Joshua Budich

It’s hard to believe it’s been over 10 years since artist Joshua Budich released his original portrait of Eddie Vedder as a screen print.  You can see that original art print here, which also makes The Blot feel very old as that means The Blot Says has always been covering the amazing art of Mr. Budich for over 10 years too! Where has the time gone!?! Thankfully Joshua has decided to revisit the lead singer of Pearl Jam by dropping this new portrait of the musical living legend!

Pearl Jam Gigaton Fine Art Print by Ken Taylor

Pearl Jam Gigaton Fine Art Print by Ken Taylor

As a diehard Pearl Jam fan, The Blot was really excited to learn the band had teamed up with artists the Ken Taylor, Ames Bros and Krzysztof Domaradzki to create fine art prints inspired by PJ’s first new album in seven years, Gigaton! These prints were originally to be released at a New York City pop-up shop the day of the album’s release, but those plans were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I guess New York’s loss is our gain as all three artists will be releasing their Pearl Jam Gigaton art prints online instead today, Monday, April 20th.

Pearl Jam Gigaton Fine Art Print by Ken Taylor

The Ken Taylor Pearl Jam Gigaton art print is a large format 30”x30” signed and numbered 7 color screen print on 100% cotton archival paper with hand deckled edges. This screen print is limited to 200 pieces and comes hand numbered. Ken Taylor’s copies will be the odd numbers and will come signed, while the Pearl Jam fan club, Ten Club, will be selling the even numbers at a later date and those will be unsigned. The artist copies will go on sale at 6pm EDT on Monday, April 20th, at BeyondThePale.com.au for $250.

“You Are Strong” Screen Print by Tara McPherson x Collectionzz x Pearl Jam

“You Are Strong” Screen Print by Tara McPherson x Collectionzz x Pearl Jam

Collectionzz has launched a really cool new screen print series entitled Art Unleashed: Rock Art for a Cause. It’s a collaboration with some amazing artists from around the world, who are very well-recognized within the world of rock and gig posters, with two goals in mind: to raise money for charity, and to bring to members of Collectionzz some of the most phenomenal rock art they’ve ever seen! But what’s really amazing about this project is that Collectionzz will be donating all profits from the sales of the art to the charities of the artists’ choices. How cool is that!?! The Blot will definitely be trying to snag a few prints from this exciting new series.

“You Are Strong” Main Blue Hair Edition Screen Print by Tara McPherson x Collectionzz x Pearl Jam

To create original and interpretive art, Collectionzz has asked each artist to use a song as inspiration, and harness their guttural reactions to the music itself, without limitation. For their second release, Collectionzz has asked the super talented Tara McPherson to design an art print for the classic Pearl Jam song “Why Go.” As Tara explained, “I was assigned the song ‘Why Go’ by Pearl Jam for my art print in this series with Collectionzz. After reading the lyrics I was taken with the character's strength in fighting the system and the status quo. I feel she is an icon of strength, and I wanted to illustrate her independent spirit. I see parallels with scratching letters into walls with tattooing words across your chest. There is this alternate universe hinted at through the heart shaped hole in her chest, creating a sort of portal to an alternate dimension, maybe where one’s mind would go when trapped in an isolated place. I also chose Planned Parenthood as my charity because they fight the good fight for women's health and reproductive rights. The title is a reminder, a mantra, for women everywhere going through any rough spot that life throws at you... You are strong.”

“You Are Strong” Pink Hair Variant Screen Print by Tara McPherson x Collectionzz x Pearl Jam

You Are Strong by Tara McPherson is an 18”x24” signed and numbered screen print. The Main Blue Hair Edition is limited to 100 pieces and retails for $75, while the Variant Pink Hair Edition is limited to just 30 pieces and retails for $100. The Main Edition and Variant Edition are seven color prints with a layer of gold flake ink. There’s also a super rare Rainbow Foil Variant that features six colors and is limited to just 10 pieces, which retails for $125. All three prints go on sale at 2pm EDT today, Monday, June 4th, at the Collectionzz online store.

Pearl Jam Transformers Global Citizen Festival Concert Poster by Ames Bros

Pearl Jam Transformers 2015 Global Citizen Festival Concert Poster Screen Print by Ames Bros

This weekend Pearl Jam, The Blot’s favorite band, will be performing at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival in New York City’s Central Park! To commemorate the performance, PJ is teaming up with Volcom to host a killer Pearl Jam Pop Up Shop at Volcom Soho (446 Broadway, New York, NY 10013) all week long. This Pearl Jam pop up shop is the only place where you purchase the full NYC PJ merchandise line dropping this week, including this epic Transformers inspired concert poster by the Ames Bros! I seriously love how the Ames Bros redesigned the entire band (including Boom) as Transformers for this release. Pearl Jam will be releasing four different screen prints commemorating this show by artists the Ames Bros, Broken Fingaz, Don Pendleton and David Hale. The PJ pop up shop at Volcom Soho will be the only place to purchase these prints as the only Pearl Jam merchandise available at the festival will be the show’s official Global Citizen X Pearl Jam t-shirt.

The Pearl Jam 2015 Central Park's Great Lawn NYC by the Ames Bros is a 20”x26” Transformers 6 color Screen Print. The version sold at the Volcom pop up shop will not come signed and numbered, however the Ames Bros have also released a signed and numbered version that was limited to 130 pieces and is now sold out.

Pearl Jam x Seattle Seahawks “12 Flag Needle” Super Bowl T-Shirt

Pearl Jam x Seattle Seahawks “12 Flag Needle” T-Shirt

As residents of Seattle, Washington, the members of Pearl Jam are huge Seahawks fans. Before the Seattle Seahawks’ first NFL playoff game this year, which was against the Carolina Panthers, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready raised the franchise’s 12th Man flag from the roof of the 605 foot tall Seattle Space Needle! The 12th Man flag recognizes the Seahawks’ cheering fans in attendance at home game. Seattle’s fan base gets so loud at CenturyLink Field its said they give the Seahawks a 12 on 11 man advantage on the field. In honor of McCready raising the flag and the Seahawks back to back trips to the NFL Super Bowl, Pearl Jam has released this awesome “12 Flag Needle” t-shirt!

Pearl Jam x Seattle Seahawks “12 Flag Needle” T-Shirt

The “12 Flag Needle” t-shirt is a perfect mash-up of all the best parts of Seattle: Pearl Jam, the Seahawks and the Space Needle! This 2015 limited edition t-shirt features the Seattle Seahawks signature colors, College Navy and Action Green, and is the perfect way to commemorate the Seattle Seahawks’s trip to Super Bowl XLIX! Even better still, a portion of all proceeds from the sale of this tee will help benefit the NFL Kick Hunger Challenge with donations distributed to Food Lifeline.

The Pearl Jam x Seattle Seahawks “12 Flag Needle” t-shirt is currently available in sizes S-XXXL at the Pearl Jam online store for $24.99.

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

This is one of those unexpected releases that totally blows The Blot’s mind. As a huge Pearl Jam fan I’m always excited about new PJ merchandise, but I never thought I’d be drinking official Pearl Jam beer. Eddie Vedder wine possibly, but definitely not beer. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is proud to announce the release of Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale!

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale Bottles by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Faithfull Ale is a celebration of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary as a band and its extraordinary debut album Ten. In recognition of these milestones, this Belgian-style golden ale is delicately hopped to 20 IBUs and fruit-forward from 10 incremental additions of black currants over a one-hour boil. Faithfull will clock in at 7% ABV. I have no idea what most of that means, but I’ll definitely be hunting for a 6-pack of Faithfull Ale in the next few weeks. It officially started shipping to all of the states in which Dogfish Head currently does business last week.

As Dogfish Head President & Founder Sam Calagione stated in the Faithful Ale press release, "To me, Ten is the perfect example of a record-lover's-record. The whole thing rocks. As an off-centered brewery, we believe in celebrating the breadth of our whole portfolio and we feel an affinity for Pearl Jam a long-player band in a singles-obsessed world."

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale Label by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Dogfish Head also found inspiration in Pearl Jam's ethics, community-building and commitment to putting music before commerce. In recognition of this refreshing approach, Dogfish is donating $20,000 to The Nature Conservancy to aide in its efforts to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth.

Please drink responsibly!

Pearl Jam Twenty Documentary by Cameron Crowe World Premiere

Pearl Jam Twenty Official Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
Click on the photo above for a more detailed look
Today is a big day for The Blot as it marks the world premiere of the new Pearl Jam documentary PJ20 directed by Cameron Crowe, which highlights the Seattle band’s twenty year career. Cities all around the globe are hosting one night only screenings of PJ20, to see if there is a theater near you (and if tickets are still available) click here. As you all probably know, The Blot is a lifelong diehard Pearl Jam fan, so of course I bought tickets for Houston’s screening of the film as soon as they went on sale. It’s hard to believe the band has already been around for twenty years! I still remember where I was when I heard the band’s debut album Ten for the very first time. I was 12 years old and at summer camp, and my life would never be the same again…

Pearl Jam Twenty Hardcover Book

If you’re not familiar with Pearl Jam Twenty, it chronicles the years leading up to the band’s formation, the chaos that ensued soon after their rise to mega-stardom, their step back from center state, and the creation of a trusted circle that would surround them…giving way to a work culture that would sustain them for two decades. Told in big themes and bold colors with blistering sound, the film is carved from over 1,200 hours of rarely seen and never before seen footage spanning the band’s career. Pearl Jam Twenty is the definitive portrait of Pearl Jam: part concert film, part intimate insider-hang, part testimonial to the power of music and uncompromising artists.

To coincide with the documentary, Pearl Jam has also released a Pearl Jam Twenty hardcover book ($22) that chronicles the band’s past two decades with a forward by Crowe, an official Pearl Jam Twenty Soundtrack ($16), which includes 2 cds and 29 tracks of rare and unreleased recordings, and the official Pearl Jam Twenty DVD for $14.

Eddie Vedder in NYC Concert Posters by Jermaine Rogers & Frank Kozik

Eddie Vedder New York City 6.21.11 Concert Poster by Jermaine Rogers and Frank Kozik

It’s releases like this that remind me why I love art so much!!! The Blot has seriously been waiting years for a Jermaine Rogers Pearl Jam concert poster, and while there were rumblings a while back that one was in the works it never actually materialized…until this week! Finally, Jermaine was commissioned to do the limited edition screen prints for both nights of Eddie Vedder's recent solo appearances in New York City at the Beacon Theater. What’s even cooler is Jermaine arranged to do a collaboration piece with fellow artist Frank Kozik for the first night! Seriously, what’s better than two of my favorite artists represented in two amazing concert posters!?!

Eddie Vedder New York City 6.22.11 Concert Poster by Jermaine Rogers

With these prints Jermaine “wanted to do something a bit different from what has been done recently for Ed, and he was very open to this. So, we decided to give everyone a glimpse of a distant time in the future when the lovely animals of earth have inherited everything that human beings have pissed away...or had taken from them. Two of our friendly future beasts explore the ancient ruins of what surely must've been a grand ol' place...at least, once upon a time. Doing that evolution....” For the second night, Jermaine created a companion piece to go along with the first night's offering. According to Jermaine Eddie really like this one because of how it reminded him of the great John Lennon.

Both Eddie Vedder 6 color concert posters measure 17”x24”, come signed and numbered by the artist(s) and have a limited edition run size of 100 pieces. And before you ask, yes the June 21, 2011 screen print comes signed by both Jermaine Rogers and Frank Kozik! Both versions will retail for $65 and go on sale at JermaineRogers.com this Friday, June 24th, at 3:00 PM Eastern.

Eddie Vedder Screen Print by Joshua Budich

After releasing a highly successful series of Dave Matthews Band prints (each print was a portrait of a different member of DMB), artist Joshua Budich is now turning his attention towards The Blot’s favorite band, Pearl Jam. There has been no indication that Budich will be producing an entire series of Pearl Jam prints, but this “Eddie” screen print is top notch. It’s definitely one of my favorite art prints featuring Pearl Jam’s lead singer, and I will be doing my best to snag one come Tuesday!

Eddie Vedder Screen Print by Joshua Budich
The “Eddie” screen print by Joshua Budich will go on sale today (Tuesday, March 23rd), sometime after noon PST, and will retail for $55 each. Each 19”x25” print comes signed & numbered by the artist and has a limited edition run size of just 200 prints. “Eddie” can be purchased directly from Joshua Budich at his online store.

The Faded Line - Limited Edition Metal Prints and Puzzles by Brad Klausen & Emek

The Faded Line has two very cool releases dropping this week that I thought readers of The Blot Says… might enjoy, especially all the Pearl Jam fans out there! Brad Klausen, known for his amazing PJ rock concert posters, recently joined The Faded Line’s stable of artists (which includes Emek, Todd Slater & Jeff Wood). Klausen’s first two releases with The Faded Line features the Reaper from his 2006 Pearl Jam DC concert poster and they look pretty damn sweet!

The Faded Line Limited Edition Jigsaw Puzzles - Cloak and Veil by Brad Klausen
First up is a set of three limited edition jigsaw puzzles. The three images, “Cloak and Veil” by Brad Klausen and “Cybercycle” and “Cyberman” by Emek, have been seen on posters for Pearl Jam, Built To Spill and Tool. The puzzles are signed and numbered, screen printed editions of 170 and measure 15" x 21.25". Each limited edition puzzle will retail for $35, and due to demand only 1 puzzle will be sold per household.

The Faded Line Limited Edition Jigsaw Puzzles - Cyberman by Emek
The Faded Line Limited Edition Jigsaw Puzzles - Cybercycle by Emek
In conjunction with the puzzle sale, The Faded Line will also be selling extremely limited edition metal prints of the same three images above. In order to purchase one of these metal prints, customers must order a puzzle first and then check a box during checkout which puts them into a random drawing for the right to purchase a metal print. Each 18”x24” metal print is limited to 60 pieces, comes signed and numbered by the artist, and will retail for $200.

The Faded Line Limited Edition Metal Prints - Cloak and Veil by Brad Klausen, and Cybercycle & Cyberman by Emek
One puzzle will go on sale each day at 3pm Mountain starting Thurs 1/7 through Sat 1/9 exclusively at www.thefadedline.com. Because this is a Faded Line exclusive, the artists will not have inventory to sell at a later date.

Pearl Jam Concert Posters by Tom Tomorrow

I know I've touched upon this before, but the cover of Pearl Jam’s latest album, Backspacer, was designed by Tom Tomorrow (a.k.a. editorial cartoonist Dan Perkins), who is best known for his liberal slanted weekly comic strip This Modern World. Needless to say, The Blot was really excited to find out Tom had also designed a concert poster for the band’s August 24, 2009 show at the United Center in Chicago, IL. As far as I am aware, this is the first time an artist has designed the artwork for a Pearl Jam album and a concert poster for that album’s corresponding tour. I love Tomorrow’s art style, and may or may not now be the proud owner of a signed and numbered AP print of the poster below.

Pearl Jam - August 24, 2009 - United Center - Chicago, IL Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
While I love Tom’s ode to Chicago, the real reason I’m writing this post is because of the amazing Halloween themed concert poster set he designed for Pearl Jam’s four night stay at Philadelphia’s The Spectrum. If you haven’t heard already, The Spectrum closed for good after Pearl Jam’s final show there on Halloween 2009. Pearl Jam played four shows at The Spectrum, October 27th, 28th, 30th and 31st, and played almost every song the band has ever recorded. To go along with Pearl Jam’s four shows in Philly, Tomorrow designed four posters (1 for each night) that could stand alone individually or, when placed next to each other, form one giant retro pop culture costume party themed image.

Pearl Jam - October 27, 28, 30, 31, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster Set by Tom Tomorrow
(click on the photo above for a more detailed look)

Pearl Jam - October 27, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
Pearl Jam - October 28, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
According to Tomorrow, “since these were for a series of shows the week of Halloween, my idea was to have a giant retro pop-culture costume-party theme - superheroes, robots, space people, monsters, etc., along with a number of band-related/requested ‘cameos’ in the background, all (at least in my mind’s eye) comprising the audience to the last shows at the Spectrum.”

Pearl Jam - October 30, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
Pearl Jam - October 31, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
If you are interested in purchasing these awesome Halloween inspired Pearl Jam concert posters, Tom Tomorrow will most likely be selling a signed and numbered edition of these sometime early next year, around February or so. They’ll be available as complete sets of four only, and an exact price has not yet been set. If you’re interested in a set, Tom’s compiling a waiting list which you can add your name to by sending an email to him at tom(dot)tomorrow (at) gmail (dot) com with “Philly waiting list” in the subject line. Please note, you are not placing an actual order and he is not taking any money at this time. But when he does eventually do the sale, priority will be given to those on the list.
