SDCC 2018 Exclusive Star Trek: Discovery Lt. Saru Mini Bust by Gentle Giant

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Exclusive Star Trek: Discovery Lt. Saru Mini Bust by Gentle Giant

Gentle Giant has announced their second San Diego Comic-Con 2018 exclusive – this show accurate Star Trek: Discovery Lt. Saru Mini Bust! Hot off the critically acclaimed and fan-favorite first season of this new Star Trek television series, Gentle Giant is excited to announce a new line of officially licensed Star Trek: Discovery mini busts.

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Exclusive Star Trek: Discovery Lt. Saru Mini Bust by Gentle Giant

For those of you who haven’t seen this new CBS series yet, Lt. Saru is the first officer of the U.S.S. Discovery. Evolved from prey rather than predator, Kelpiens have a pronounced ability to sense the coming of death. Saru finds himself in the unique position of being the first Kelpian to serve in Starfleet. Will his unique ability to sense death impair his ability to make the best decisions for his crew, or will it save them all?

For this San Diego Comic-Con 2018 exclusive, Gentle Giant artists worked with production to use original concept models and authentic production files from the Star Trek series to accurately match and recreate the prosthetic makeup appliance worn by actor Doug Jones for this bold new mini bust. This limited edition convention exclusive mini bust of first officer Lt. Saru is hand-cast, hand-painted and hand-numbered with a limited edition Certificate of Authenticity. Collectors can purchase this San Diego Comic-Con exclusive at the Gentle Giant SDCC booth #3513 next month for $100.

Star Trek Discovery Teaser Television Poster

Star Trek Discovery Teaser One Sheet Television Poster

The Blot’s actually pretty excited for CBS’ new live action Star Trek television show, Star Trek Discovery. The first teaser poster for the series is here, but it really doesn’t do much for me. Then again, no matter how good the TV show looks there’s really no chance I plunk down $10 a month for CBS All Access, the network’s new subscription service, just for one show. That’s a lot of money for such little content compared to Netflix, Amazon Prime or even HBO Go. It’ll hit Netflix eventually, right? Otherwise, the network needs to suck it up and give Star Trek Discovery a second run (maybe over the summer) on CBS proper.
