The Blot’s super behind on Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means I’m nowhere near watching their latest Marvel series, Luke Cage Season 2. I still haven’t watched Jessica Jones Season 2! I know, I know…I’m a disgrace. But I am super excited to watch Luke Cage Season 2, whenever I get to it. In the meantime, check out the second official Luke Cage Season 2 poster. And as the poster says, “Never Forget Who You Are.”
All of Marvel's Luke Cage Season 2 episodes are available now on Netflix.
Netflix has released an official one sheet television poster for their next Marvel TV series, Luke Cage Season 2! They’ve also posted their first full trailer for Luke Cage S2, and The Blot loves what he has seen so far. It’s great to see Simone Missick’s Misty Knight back, as well Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple. She really is the glue to Netflix’ little corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All in all, The Blot is a huge fan of Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and I can’t wait for this new series of episodes to drop.
Luke Cage Season 2 Synopsis: After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
All of Marvel's Luke Cage Season 2 episodes will debut on Netflix on June 22, 2018.
At New York Comic Con 2016 this weekend Marvel unveiled this awesome new teaser poster for their upcoming Netflix television show Iron Fist by acclaimed artist Joe Quesada! This motion poster features a variety of concept art Quesada designed for the show. This is Netflix’ final standalone Marvel series before the huge team-up show The Defenders, and The Blot can’t wait! The big news about The Defenders coming out of New York Comic Con is that the series' main bad guy is going to be played by none other than Sigourney Weaver! How crazy is that!?! Marvel also released the television show's first teaser trailer, which debuted at NYCC. Check it out below and let me know what you think:
Netflix has released a new one sheet television poster for their next Marvel TV series, Luke Cage! Mike Colter looks seriously perfect as Luke Cage, and this poster just oozes Marvel’s Hero for Hire. He does those of us in the bald brotherhood proud! It’s amazing how such a simple poster can hit upon so many iconic characteristics of Cage. I especially dig the smoking bullet holes in his golden t-shirt. Now if only it were bright yellow instead! And just released today, check out Netflix's first full trailer for Luke Cage! This show looks fantastic, don't you think!?!
All of Marvel's Luke Cage Season 1 episodes will debut on Netflix on September 30, 2016.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2016 last weekend Starz released this awesome teaser poster for the upcoming second season of their popular television show Ash vs Evil Dead! The Blot loved Season 1, which marked the return of Bruce Campbell’s Ash after a 20+ year absence, and I’m super excited for the series return to TV. What do you think of this bloody teaser one sheet and the red band trailer below? Will you be watching Ash vs Evil Dead S2?
At San Diego Comic-Con 2016 last weekend FOX released a teaser poster for Gotham’s upcoming third season and a really long and telling teaser trailer. It’s hard to believe Gotham’s only been on for three seasons. The Blot feels like the show has been on forever. And what do you think about all the spoilers in the one sheet poster above and the trailer below? Can you believe the Court of Owls is coming to television already!?!
At San Diego Comic-Con 2016 last weekend Marvel released a teaser poster for the upcoming fourth season of Agents of SHIELD on ABC. The poster features the show’s cast with art by Mike Perkins. What’s most notable about both the poster and the show’s Season 4 teaser trailer is they officially announced the arrival of Ghost Rider to Agents of SHIELD!
This isn’t your father’s Ghost Rider though, as it’s the “All-New” Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes (to be portrayed by Gabriel Luna) who will drive a car and not a motorcycle. The Blot’s pretty shocked Marvel decided to add Ghost Rider to Agents of SHIELD instead of to one of their darker Netflix shows, but maybe this is their way to tie the larger Marvel TV Universe together.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2016 last weekend Marvel released this killer teaser poster for their upcoming Netflix television show Luke Cage by acclaimed artist Joe Quesada! This show is going to be awesome, right? These were given out at the Marvel SDCC booth. And check out the show's first teaser trailer, which debuted at Comic-Con below!
I don’t know how the current trend of bringing back old TV shows and franchises started, but The Blot loves it! Over the past two years alone we’ve seen iconic television shows such as Twin Peaks, Arrested Development, Dallas, Boy Meets World, The Comeback, 24, Heroes, Full House and Coach either been brought back or heard announcements that they will be back very, very soon. Somehow this amazing phenomenon has expanded to film franchises as well, when Starz announced a new television show based on the cult classic ‘90s horror franchise The Evil Dead will be coming this fall! Ash vs Evil Dead Season 1 will be made up of ten 30 minute episodes, and The Blot cannot freaking wait.
What’s awesome about Ash vs Evil Dead is it is a direct continuation of the franchise’s original trilogy and will even star Bruce Campbell as Ash! With the Raimi brothers and Campbell involved you know it’ll be good. And we don’t need to fear Ash vs Evil Dead will be watered down either since it’ll be airing on the pay cable channel Starz. As you probably know, The Blot’s a diehard Bruce Campbell fan and Army of Darkness (the second Evil Dead sequel) is one of my all time favorite films. Just seeing this one sheet teaser television poster and trailer for the new series has me all kinds of excited! Personally I’m glad to see the Evil Dead remake take a backseat to the original much loved film trilogy.
Yesterday, Netflix released the first full trailer for its upcoming live action series Marvel’s Daredevil. To be honest, The Blot’s never been a very big Daredevil fan but boy does this teaser trailer look awesome! It’s got a very PG-13 feel to it that evokes the iconic ‘80s DD run of Frank Miller and Klaus Janson mixed with the Daredevil: The Man Without Fear mini-series from 1993 by Miller and John Romita, Jr. Everything Marvel produces these days is just perfect, so I have no doubt these Netflix series will be amazing. Maybe they’ll even make me love The Man Without Fear. What do you think of the show’s first teaser trailer!?!
In what world do we live in that as Marvel Comics dominates theaters worldwide, DC Comics has taken over television screens in the US? After successfully launching the Green Arrow series Arrow on The CW two seasons ago, DC Comics now has four new shows green lit for next season: Gotham on FOX, The Flash and iZombie on The CW, and Constantine on NBC. It’s just mind boggling! What’s even more mind boggling is that this will be the second live action adaptation of the classic Vertigo comic book series Hellblazer. It is very, very impressive that anyone at Warner Bros was able to convince a network to move forward with this series considering how terrible the 2005 Keanu Reeves Constantine film was. At least Matt Ryan looks spot on to the John Constantine we all know and love from the comic books.
Constantine stars Matt Ryan as John Constantine, Lucy Griffiths as Liv Aberdine, Harold Perrineau as Manny, and Charles Halford as Chas.
Synopsys: Seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine specializes in giving hell... hell. Armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and his wickedly naughty wit, he fights the good fight - or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he's decided to leave his do-gooder life behind. But when demons target Liv, the daughter of one of Constantine's oldest friends, he's reluctantly thrust back into the fray - and he'll do whatever it takes to save her. Before long, it's revealed that Liv's "second sight," an ability to see the worlds behind our world and predict supernatural occurrences, is a threat to a mysterious new evil that's rising in the shadows. And now it's not just Liv who needs protection; the angels are starting to get worried too. So, together, Constantine and Liv must use her power and his skills to travel the country, find the demons that threaten our world - and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows... maybe there's hope for him and his soul after all.
FOX has green lit Gotham, which meaning we’ll be getting a brand new television series in the fall set in DC Comics’ Batman universe (and four new shows based on DC Comics – how crazy is that!). Making this a Batman prequel is really pretty ingenious. The story telling potential here is really limitless. I can’t wait to see all the different characters they bring in to the show, so long as FOX gives Gotham a chance to succeed. Check out the show’s first official Season 1 cast photo above, and the extended first trailer below. What do you think!?!
Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney, Camren Bicondova as Catwoman, Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin, Zabryna Guevara as Sarah Essen, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Cory Michael Smith as The Riddler and Sara Paxton as Poison Ivy.
Synopsys: Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world's greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon's story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world's most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker? Gotham is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. Gotham follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
While this show should be right up The Blot’s alley (I love me some Agent Coulson played by Clark Gregg), up until this week I really wasn’t all that excited for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. First off, who cares about the human S.H.I.E.L.D. agents other than Nick Fury and Coulson!?! It’s the super heroes we all know and love! Plus the new ABC television series’ name is horrible. Does it really need to be that long with so much punctuation? But then something crazy happened…even with its lackluster cast Marvel did what it always does, release a kick ass promo! It probably doesn't help that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by Joss Whedon.
Check out the newest Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. extended promo above and then tune in Tuesdays at 8pm EST this fall on ABC for the adventures of Agent Phil Coulson and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As a diehard LOST fan, The Blot has been ready to start watching Alcatraz ever since it got the green light from FOX last year. Produced by J.J. Abrams, directed by Jack Bender and starring Jorge Garcia, everything about this show says “Must See TV” to me. As FOX explains, Alcatraz is a “thrilling new series that follows a unique trio investigating the mystifying reappearance of 302 of Alcatraz’s most notorious prisoners and guards 50 years after they vanished.” Admit it, that one sentence synopsis sounds pretty good doesn’t it? Some thought ABC’s Once Upon A Time would be LOST’s heir apparent, but to me Alcatraz has always held that title. I just can’t figure out why FOX kept this awesome television show on hold until mid-season!
Catch the 2 hour series premiere of Alcatraz tonight, Monday, January 16th, at 8/7c on FOX! Alcatraz stars Sarah Jones as Det. Rebecca Madsen, Jorge Garcia as Dr. Diego Soto, Sam Neill as Emerson Hauser, Parminder Nagra (of ER!) as Lucy Banerjee; Robert Forster as Ray Archer, Santiago Cabrera as Jimmy Dickens, Jonny Coyne as Warden Edwin James and Jason Butler Harner as Deputy Warden E.B. Tiller. You can also listen to the new Diego’s Soule Patch: An Alcatraz Podcast by Jorge Garcia and Bethany Shady on iTunes (I know I will be)!
Alcatraz Official Synopsis: When San Francisco Police Department Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a seemingly impossible suspect: Jack Sylvane (guest star Jeffrey Pierce), an Alcatraz inmate who died over 30 years ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, Ray Archer (Robert Forster), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued. When the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) tries to impede her investigation, she becomes doggedly committed to it.
Madsen finds herself working with an unlikely partner, Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast Dr. Diego “Doc” Soto (Jorge Garcia), to help piece together the inexplicable sequence of events. The two discover that Sylvane is not only alive, but he’s loose on the streets of San Francisco, exacting decades-old revenge and leaving bodies in his wake. And strangely, he hasn’t aged a day since 1963, when Alcatraz was ruled by the iron-fisted Warden Edwin James (Jonny Coyne) and the sadistic Associate Warden E.B. Tiller (Jason Butler Harner).
Detective Madsen and Soto must team with Hauser and his associate, Lucy Banerjee (Parminder Nagra), to stop Sylvane’s vengeful killing spree. By delving into Alcatraz history, government cover-ups and Rebecca’s own heritage, the team will ultimately discover that Sylvane is only a small part of a much larger, more sinister present-day threat. Because even though he may be the first, it quickly becomes clear that Sylvane won’t be the last to reappear from Alcatraz.
This is a huge week for The Blot, because it marks the world television debut of the Smallville episode “Booster” featuring my all time favorite DC Comics superhero, Booster Gold! With only five Smallville episodes left, The Blot’s still in shock that an entire episode would be dedicated to introducing Booster (and of course the Blue Beetle) to the world of live action TV, but I couldn’t be happier. The costume looks great and from what I’ve seen, I think Geoff Johns did a great job adapting this C-list hero for television. But don’t take my word for it, check out the official preview for this week’s episode for your official first look at Booster Gold in action!
While The Blot’s not fan of Smallville, I can’t get over watching a real live version of Booster Gold. If the episode is anywhere near as good as the promo video clip above, I might have to go back and watch the show's first 9 seasons! Watch for other Booster related posts all this week on The Blot Says... as a lead-up to the character’s big Smallville debut.
The Smallville episode “Booster” premieres this Friday, April 22nd, at 8/7c on The CW.
Tonight, Tony and the No Reservations crew take the show to Madrid for an absolutely gorgeous and delicious viewing experience. This is one of those episodes where the timing could not have worked out any better! While in Madrid for the taping of this episode, Spain's national futbol team won the 2010 World Cup. The win was much bigger than sports; it marked a significant day in history when this large and diverse country found a moment of pride after a less than lustrous 20th century.
The clash between old food tradition and rebellious new creativity is especially prominent in Madrid. While in Spain, Tony hits a few spots that appear to be stuck in time, and at the same time visits some young and exciting restaurants. Tony dines at one of the most difficult restaurants to get a reservation at in all of Europe. It is so busy that the owner and service manager had to open up especially for Tony on their wedding day!
The one Spanish delicacy that Tony loves above all others is the Spanish ham, and more specifically, Jamón Ibérico ham. It can only come from the rare black hoofed pig, and it must be raised in a very specific way in the western region of Spain. It is then cured for almost four years at a very precise level of humidity. To pass through Spain without sampling this magnificent creation is no less than a sin.
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations airs Monday nights at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.
The Blot’s got mixed feelings about ABC’s new hour long sci-fi drama No Ordinary Familystarring Michael Chiklis. I love Chiklis and am always up for a new super hero television show, but haven’t we already seen this story on TV and in the movies multiple times before? Whether it’s the Fantastic Four (which also starred Chiklis) or Pixar’s The Incredibles, how many times is Hollywood going to try and repackage the classic (and now repetitive) storyline of “family gets in an accident, gains super powers from said accident and then tries to learn how to use their newfound powers to fight crime.”
Sorry if I’m being overly pessimistic, but is it really possible for No Ordinary Family to have a fresh take on the overused “family gets superpowers” clichéd story? God I hope so! If not, Hollywood is about to have another comic book inspired bust on their hands. Sadly, the marketing campaign for No Ordinary Family has been pretty lackluster so far (in my opinion at least). As you can see from No Ordinary Family Season 1’s one sheet television poster above, all of the show’s posters and billboards revolve around the Chiklis’s onscreen family standing in front of a blue sky…doesn’t exactly scream excitement does it? I guess we’ll learn if the show can live up to the hype soon enough. It premieres on Tuesday, September 28th at 8/7c on ABC.
Official Show Description: The Powells are about to go from ordinary to extraordinary. After 16 years of marriage, Jim (Michael Chiklis) feels disconnected from his workaholic wife, Stephanie (Julie Benz) and two teenage children, Daphne (Kay Panabaker) and JJ (Jimmy Bennett). To encourage family bonding time, Jim decides the family will join Stephanie on her business trip to South America. When their plane crashes into the Amazon River, they barely enjoy a moment to celebrate their survival before returning to the grind of everyday life. But they will soon realize that their lives have been forever changed. Each member of the family starts to show signs of new, unique and distinct super powers. Will their newfound abilities finally bring them together or push them further apart?
For the Powells, embarking on a mission to understand their new abilities becomes the key to rebuilding their family life, as they learn what defines and unifies them. Despite the fact they can collectively lift a car, run at lightning speed, read your mind and calculate the dimensions of the Eiffel Tower -- all before you say "superhero" - they are first and foremost an average family with everyday problems. No Ordinary Family also stars Romany Malco, Stephen Collins and Autumn Reeser.
This Monday No Reservationshits an incredible milestone…its 100th episode! And what better location is there for Tony to visit on his 100th episode than the site of his very first show, Paris. Cuisine in Paris is often considered the best in the world, and when you come from a system that is that renowned, and that established, there is a lot of pressure to do things the "right" way.
The food scene in Paris however has gone through some definite changes since No Reservations was last in Paris. There are exciting new chefs who dare to challenge the status quo. There is a move toward faster, more casual environments, much like you would find in New York City. However, in Paris it is impossible to escape the classic and the traditional. And why would you want to? There are so many great things to enjoy in this city nobody could possibly come here and forget anything they experienced. What a perfect way to cap off the first 100 great episodes of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations! It is sure to be an episode you will not soon forget.
In celebration of No Reservation’s milestone episode, Labor Day (Monday, September 6th) is all Tony all the time on the Travel Channel. The Travel Channel will air its favorite No Reservations episodes all day (from 9am-8pm EDT), and then at 8/9c a special behind the scenes episode, entitled “What Were We Thinking” will debut. And last but not least, at 10/9c the 100th episode of No Reservations featuring the sights, sounds, and most importantly, food of Paris will air!
The “What Were We Thinking” special is a behind the scenes look at the No Reservations crew and gives us an inside look at the people who make this fantastic show happen week in and week out. It takes a special kind of person to work in television, and Tony and his crew are definitely special! Tune in tonight and find out what makes No Reservations tick!

The last time Anthony Bourdain left Beirut, it was not a happy time for Tony or Beirut. One of the most vivid memories from No Reservations’ 2006 trip was looking out at the airport and seeing it bombed. In the first few days of that trip, Beirut had a closer resemblance to Miami Beach than to a city under siege, but it soon turned sour. Tony soon found himself in the middle of a war, holed up in the confines of a luxury hotel. Ever since leaving Lebanon, Tony has felt a need to come back and do a show on Beirut the right way.
Back in the 1960's, Beirut was known as the Paris of the Mediterranean. There were lots of different groups, languages, ethnicities, religions, sects, interests, and political factions all intermingled throughout the city. Today, while downtown Beirut is trendy, new, and hip, travel just ten minutes away and you see the destruction from the war. You are just as likely to meet a model or an entrepreneur as you are to meet a soldier or a hezbollah supporter. However, with all of that cultural diversity comes an incredible mix of foods.
Some Lebanese believe the reason so many people are fighting over the land is because it is so lovely. Between the gorgeous coastline, the mountains, the seafood, lamb and produce, it is a place that is not hard to fall in love with. On the face, Beirut seems like a dream city among the Arab world, but they just can't seem to catch a break.
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations airs Monday nights at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.
