Bottleneck Gallery celebrates some of Disney’s classic swords and sorcery tales today with two new movie posters!  First up is The Black Cauldron by Dave Perillo, which is one of The Blot’s favorite Disney animated films. As BNG explained, “1985’s The Black Cauldron is a dark fantasy Disney gem that, despite initial box office disappointment, has had a nice second-life post-theatrical release. We’re excited to bring back Dave’s Disney Crest Series featuring the colorful cast of The Black Cauldron. Just look at those adorable Fair Folk!”

The Black Cauldron by Dave Perillo is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print. The Regular Edition is limited to 100 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Foil Variant is limited to 50 pieces and will retail for $60. This Disney poster will go on sale at 12pm ET on Wednesday, January 24th, at BottleneckGallery.com.

The Black Cauldron Disney Vinylmation Set

2010 marks the 25th anniversary of Disney’s The Black Cauldron, and in honor of the animated film’s silver anniversary Disney will be releasing a limited edition The Black Cauldron Vinylmation 2 figure set. The Black Cauldron Disney Vinylmation set includes a 9" figure of the villainous Horned King with a 3" figure of the Horned King’s loveable sidekick Gurgi.


As a little kid, The Blot loved The Black Cauldron. I can still remember seeing it in the theater when it premiered in 1985 and how excited I was afterwards. Little did I know The Black Cauldron’s was the most expensive animated film ever produced (at that point in time), and was considered a box office flop and an embarrassment to Disney’s animation studio…but guess what? I could have cared less. I loved The Black Cauldron then and I still enjoy watching it today!


The Black Cauldron Disney Vinylmation figures can only be purchased as a set at Disney World and Disneyland theme parks. The 9” Horned King Mickey Mouse and 3” Gurgi Mickey Mouse are limited edition and will probably sell out quickly upon release. While the price is currently unknown, Vinylmation sets such as this one typically retail for around $40.
