Today, Mondo will be releasing a pair of new movie posters from Oliver Barrett for John Carpenter’s brilliant and subversive examination of consumerism, They Live. The Blot loves They Live and I’m a sucker for any artwork for the movie featuring the film’s star, Rowdy Roddy Piper, prominently – especially when the artwork is this amazing! As Mondo explained, “Fellow bubble-gum loving badass Oliver Barrett deftly crushed it with these posters. They are a beautiful ode to one of Carpenter’s signature films.”

Today, Vice Press will be releasing this really great They Live movie poster by artist Florey! As Vice Press explained, “They Live takes its cue from fashion adverts prevalent across the 80’s and is available in two versions”. After originally debuting at Thought Bubble Comic Art Festival earlier this month, this print will now go on sale at 1pm ET today, Tuesday, November 30th, at Vice-Press.com.

OBEY – Super7 is transforming John Carpenter’s 1988 cult classic They Live, one of The Blot’s favorite films, into full color ReAction retro action figures! Sadly, the previously seen Rowdy Roddy Piper’s John Nada ReAction figure is not being released at this time, possibly due to licensing issues. Now that’s a bummer!

John Carpenter Quad Movie Poster Series by Matt Ferguson x Vice Press x Grey Matter Art

Vice Press and Grey Matter Art are teaming up to release limited edition movie posters by Matt Ferguson for four iconic John Carpenter films – The Fog, They Live, Escape From New York and Prince of Darkness – in classic cinema quad sizing! Starting on Thursday, January 10th, and running for one week only, VP and GMA will be giving collectors the opportunity to purchase these fantastic retro posters in their classic cinema quad size of 40”x30”.

As artist Matt Ferguson explained, “Last year I had the distinct pleasure of being hired by StudioCanal to work on the 4K John Carpenter classics. I conceptualized and made all of the key art for the films. It was a dream job for me and I am really happy the art came out pretty much exactly as I intended. My ideal versions of the art are the UK quad size, it's the way the art was intended to be viewed and also my personal favorite dimensions for movie posters, so I am really happy that we are getting to make these available to people.”

Each John Carpenter Quad Movie Poster Fine Art Print by Matt Ferguson will be printed on 250gsm Vitesse Silk Paper and retail for £50 / $60. The Blot is a HUGE fan of the cult classic John Carpenter film They Live, so you know I’m all about this insanely epic Consume Edition Meats vinyl figure by Retroband that is dropping this weekend at Designer Con 2018! They Live SSFC Kids Resin Figures by Super Secret Fun Club

Super Secret Fun Club paid homage this week to John Carpenter’s cult classic 1988 film They Live with two new SSFC Kids resin figures! The film, which stars Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David, is one of The Blot’s all time favorite movies, and was the inspiration for Shepard Fairey’s Obey Giant street art movement. The “All Out of Bubblegum” SSFC Kid is based on Piper’s character and includes a shotgun and bubblegum wrapper, while the alien “Obey” SSFC Kid includes a subliminal messages magazine.

Each They Live SSFC Kids vintage rotocast resin figure stands 6” tall, is limited to just 10 pieces, and comes bagged with a header card. Collectors can pick up these fantastic figures now at the Super Secret Fun Club online store for $60 each.

Mad Duck Posters has teamed up with artist Chris Garofalo to release a killer new movie poster screen print entitled “Do Not Question Authority” inspired by the classic film They Live! As Garofalo explained, “The subliminal messages in They Live still hold up to this day, and are in fact even more relevant than they've ever been in today's world. Having previously created two prints for this film, I decided to complete the trilogy of ideas with this final print, focusing on the authoritative aspect and the alien corruption behind it. Choosing to create a badge that represented those motifs was both unsettling and fun.”
