Toy Review: Trickster Edition Hermees Vinyl Figure by Gary Ham

Trickster Edition Hermees Vinyl Figure by Gary Ham

It’s Halloween, which makes it the perfect day to review one of my favorite new toys: Hermees by Gary Ham! If you couldn’t tell by the giant smiling pumpkin on Hermees’ chest, the Trickster Edition is the figure’s Halloween colorway and features a brown, orange and teal color scheme. The Blot was lucky enough to win this Hermees directly from Gary via a Twitter contest a few months ago, but I was purposely waiting for today to drop my review.

Toy Review: Trickster Edition Hermees Vinyl Figure by Gary Ham

Honestly, if you saw Hermees in person you would not even know it was a self produced vinyl toy. The packaging on this figure is topnotch, and includes a full color window box (perfect for display purposes) and a form fitting plastic shell to keep the figure in place and undamaged. Gary definitely went all out with this guy and it shows. The paint job is tight, and it does a good job accentuating the figure’s blocky look. If I didn’t know better I’d say it was made of wood just like the original 14” handmade wood Hermees this vinyl figure is based on.

Trickster Edition Hermees Vinyl Figure by Gary Ham and Friends

The one thing pictures of Hermees don’t do a good job showcasing is its size. The figure stands 8" tall and has a wing span of 12"!!! I think it’s hard to understand just how big this figure is without a frame of reference, which is why I included a few different figures in a picture with Hermees to show off its size. Throw in 8 points of articulation (my personal favorite is its snout articulation) and you see just some of the reasons why Hermees won the 2011 Designer Toy Award for “Best Self Produced Toy.”

Trickster Edition Hermees Vinyl Figure in Packaging by Gary Ham

What’s even crazier is you get all that for just $45 and a limited edition run size of 300 pieces. It’s really amazing when you compare the price and run sizes of comparable sized figures from some of the larger toy companies. It shows what can be done in our toy community so long as you have the drive and the passion to make it happen. Gary should definitely be an inspiration to others out there hoping to make their own self produced vinyl figure.

You can pick up a Trickerster Edition Hermees vinyl figure and a bunch of other great stuff directly from Gary Ham at his Superham! online store.

Montana Edition Vlad Resin Figure by Jared Deal & Argonaut Resins

Jared Deal x Argonaut Resins Montana Edition Vladimir Resin Figure and Packaging

Say hello to Jared Deal and Argonaut Resins’ little friend. Argonaut Resins and Jared Deal have teamed up once again to release a new modified Vladimir resin figure. They released the original Vlad 3 years ago on Halloween and the entire wave of 26 pieces sold out. The OG Vlad was wearing a suit, and to help celebrate Argonaut Resins’ 3 year anniversary the new Vlad “2.0” is wearing a tuxedo!

Jared Deal x Argonaut Resins Montana Edition Vladimir Resin Figure

Inspired by Scarface's Tony Montana, this new Montana Edition Vlad will be released on Friday, November 11th, at the Argonauts Resin online store. There will only be a few of this particular colorway available, so be sure to get to the AR store early and hitting those F5 keys fast and furiously!

DCon Exclusive Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker Custom Star Wars Vinylmation Figure by Evilos

Designer Con 2011 Exclusive Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker Custom Star Wars Vinylmation Vinyl Figure by Evilos

Evilos is dropping a pretty sweet custom Star Wars Vinylmation figure entitled “NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” under the Star Rars: Evilos Strikes Back banner at Designer Con 2011 next week. If you can’t tell from the photo, this is a custom Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker Vinylmation figure, minus his right hand courtesy of Darth Vader. While the figure is awesome in its own right, what I really love about this release is its custom packaging!

I’m a sucker for custom blister card packaging and Evilos did an amazing job with this one.  From the blister card photo depicting the Vader/Skywalker showdown on Bespin to the perfectly diagramed hole in the top so these could be sold on a j-hook, everything about this blister packaging is perfect. If I had one complaint it would be that the custom’s Mickey Mouse Vinylmation's ears were cut in half so the figure could fit in the blister pack. While I would have preferred for the ears to have remained whole (unless their being cut signified some particular purpose), I’m ok with it because of how cool the blister card packaging is.

Pick up this DCon 2011 Exclusive Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker Custom Vinylmation Figure by Evilos at DCon booth #117. These figures have a limited edition run size of 50 pieces and will retail for $75 each.

Johnny Cupcakes NFL Inspired Cupcake & Crossbones T-Shirts

Johnny Cupcakes NFL Inspired T-Shirts - New England Patriots Cupcake & Crossbones T-Shirt

Some of The Blot’s favorite Johnny Cupcakes t-shirts are their pop culture inspired Cupcake and Crossbones designs, where they transform the company’s trademark logo into something just a little different. These NFL inspired designs are a classic example of that! Paying homage to the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders, these NFL Cupcake and Crossbones tees feature each team’s colors, incorporate each team’s mascot (a patriot and a pirate), and the cupcakes kind of look like football helmets.

Johnny Cupcakes NFL Inspired T-Shirts - Oakland Raiders Cupcake & Crossbones T-Shirt

My guess is these two teams were chosen because of their proximity to Johnny Cupcakes retail locations (the Raiders used to be based in LA), but I would love to see a Dallas Cowboys inspired design created as well!  What team would you like to see included in this release?

The NFL inspired Johnny Cupcakes t-shirts “Patriot Cupcake and Crossbones” and “Pirate Cupcake and Crossbones” are currently on sale at the Johnny Cupcakes online store for $35.99. The shirts are available in both men’s and women’s styles, sizes S-3XL.

Day of the Dead Exclusive Don Pablo Calaveroid Android by The Beast Brothers

Day of the Dead Exclusive Don Pablo Calaveroid Android by The Beast Brothers

Instead of releasing a second consecutive Halloween exclusive Android, Andrew Bell decided to take things to the next level. Because isn’t Halloween just so October 31st? This year it’s all about Dia de los Muertos, aka the Day of the Dead. Because of that, Bell asked his friends Ernesto and Carlos East, aka the Beast Brothers, to lend their Mexican flair to a Special Edition Android mini collectible!

The result is the beautiful and colorful Don Pablo Calaveroid Android! This limited special edition figure will be available at the Dead Zebra Shop starting on the Day of the Dead, November 1st, 2011 at 11am EST and again at 11pm EST.

Fall 2011 Custom Ugly Unicorn Vinyl Figures by Rampage Toys

Fall Custom Ugly Unicorns by Rampage Toys - Custom #12 “Masked Ugly”

Man, has Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys been on a roll this past two months or what!?! The amazing custom Ugly Unicorns just keep on coming and these are even better than the last. This time around all of the customs are fall themed. Custom #12 is the “Masked Ugly” who is sporting ugly eyes and a removable custom paper mask, perfect for a little trick or treating on Halloween.

Fall Custom Ugly Unicorns by Rampage Toys - Custom #11 “Shinto Ugly” & Custom #13 “Momiji Ugly”

Custom #11, The Blot’s persona favorite, is named “Shinto Ugly” and sports wood grain legs, a tarnished copper roof of hair, and some paper accessories (the paper folded to resemble lightning is typical adornment at the gates of entry for Shinto shrines). Last but not least is Custom #13, the Momiji Ugly! Momiji means maple tree in Japanese, and features green, orange, yellow, red, brown and white sprays, brushwork and water colored paper maple leaves.

These Fall Custom Ugly Unicorns by Rampage Toys will go on sale sometime during the morning hours of Halloween at the Rampage Toys online store. Catch one if you can!

Burnt Offerings DokuDuo Vinyl Figure by Brian Flynn

Super7 Burnt Offerings DokuDuo Vinyl Figure by Brian Flynn

The newest Monster Family figure from Super7 is seeing its word debut in vinyl later today! From the ghostly land of beyond comes the sweetly spooky totem, DokuDuo! Brian Flynn's Burnt Offerings DokuDuo is cast in dark red vinyl with orange, yellow and metallic purple sprays. Is this 4” figure beautiful or what!?!

Pick one a Burnt Offerings DokuDuo vinyl figure by Brian Flynn today, Friday, October 28th, at noon PDT at the Super7 online store for $35 each.

“Joe Kaws” Snoop Vinyl Figure by Kaws

“Joe Kaws” Snoop Vinyl Figure by Kaws

The Blot would have written about this release sooner, but I really wasn’t sure what to make of it. The last few pop culture inspired releases by Kaws have been pretty lackluster, but this Snoopy (Kaws Version) vinyl figure takes the cake! Literally all Kaws did was add X’s to poor old Snoopy’s eyes. Is that art? I can only guess what Charles Schulz would say about this one!  And all you Kaws apologists out there don’t try to tell me he’s trying to make a statement about commercialism or pop culture. I could have taken a sharpie to poor old Snoopy’s eyes.

Something about this figure just looks off. Oh well, I’m sure it’ll retail for around $200 and sell out in about 2.3 seconds just like the Tweety Bird figures released before this one. The Snoop (Kaws Version) vinyl figure will go on sale today, Friday October 28th at noon EST on Kawsone.com.

Barneyism of the Week - Booty Town

So, would anyone care to ask me where Nora and I are going tonight?

“Where are you going?” - Kevin

Booty Town, Kevin!

We are finally going to Booty Town.

“And that’s why we don’t ask him.” - Robin

I’m thinking I’m gonna hop on the Long Thigh-land Expressway.

Stop off for a nibble at Breastport.

And then, with any luck, I’ll be pulling into the Pork Authority by midnight.

Handstyle GID Green 10 Inch Custom Mad’ls by MAD

Handstyle Glow in the Dark Green 10 Inch Custom Mad’ls by MAD

The Blot tried to stay up late for MAD’s newest Handstyle custom Mad’l release last night but I just couldn’t do it!!! This is his fourth set of custom, one of a kind Handstyle Mad’ls, but the first on the 10” platform. Even better still these bad boys are glow in the dark green 10” Mad’ls! Four customs were created in all, with each blank 10” GID Green Mad’l featuring a slightly different drippy hand drawn doodle. These figures look so awesome and I bet they look crazy when they’re glowing, especially because they have that kinda Kirby Krackle look to them (all the comic book fans out there know exactly what I mean).

Only 4 Handstyle GID Green 10” Custom Mad’ls were created by MAD for this set, and there’s no telling just how many are actually left! Head to MAD’s online store now and pick one up for $175 while you still can.

DCon 2011 Exclusive Custom Vinyl Figures by Nebulon5

Designer Con Exclusive Custom Vinyl Figures by Nebulon5

Nebulon5 has been working overtime preparing for next weekend’s Designer Con! The California artist has really taken his painting skills to the next level by applying his unique style to a huge variety kaiju inspired vinyl figures. The Blot especially loves the Neb5’s color scheme for these custom figures, which includes tons of pinks, reds, purples and greens. There’s definitely a little something for everyone, including a Boss Carrion, Mongolions, Rose Vampires, a Rose Vampire DX, Miltons and so much more!

Be sure to stop by SpankyStokes.com’s DCon booth next weekend to pick one of Nebulon5’s fabulous customs. Any unsold pieces from DCon will go up in Nebulon5’s online store the following Sunday, November 6th, at a random time.

Halloween 2011 GID Ugly Unicorn Sofubi Vinyl Figures by Rampage Toys

Halloween 2011 Glow-In-The-Dark Ugly Unicorn Sofubi Vinyl Figure by Rampage Toys

If you follow The Blot on Twitter then you know I’ve been patiently awaiting the full reveal of Jon Malmstedt’s (of Rampage Toys) Halloween 2011 Glow in the Dark Ugly Unicorn release ever since he first teased this GID colorway a few weeks ago. This Halloween 2011 release is definitely Jon’s most complex painted run to date, with each GID Ugly Unicorn featuring a crazy amount of stenciling and some awesome brush-work. I love Jon’s use of stencils, and can’t get over how awesome the skull in Ugly Unicorn’s hair looks.

Halloween 2011 Glow-In-The-Dark Ugly Unicorn Sofubi Vinyl Figure by Rampage Toys

The Halloween 2011 GID Ugly Unicorn by Rampage Toys has a limited edition run size of just 5 figures and will come bagged with a glow in the dark screen printed header card. These will drop sometime in the morning on Halloween at the Rampage Toys online store. I’d wish you good luck snagging one of these batty Ugly Unicorns, but I don’t want you beating me out for this release! ;)

OMFG! Mini Figure Series 1 Kickstarter Exclusive Sets by October Toys

OMFG! Mini Figure Series 1 Kickstarter Exclusive Flesh Set by October Toys

The Blot got an email yesterday from October Toys giving everyone who donated to their Kickstarter project an update on their soon to be released OMFG! After nearly two months in production the first five OMFG! mini figures are almost ready to be unleashed upon the world and they look fantastic! Vampire Treature Erectus Resin Figure by Motorbot

Vampire Treature Erectus Resin Figure by Motorbot

After the popularity of Motorbot’s Trick or Teeth Halloween Mini Figure Series, the Dallas artist thought he should take things to the next level by turning his 2” Vampire Tiny Teeth Treature into a full blown Vampire Erectus! Standing a massive 7” tall, the Vampire Treature Erectus features a rotocast resin body with two solid resin arms and some seriously large incisors!

Pick up one of these hand painted figures today for just $60 at the Deadbear online store. Only five Vampire Erectus resin figures were created, and if you order one by October 27th you’ll be sure to get it before Halloween.

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

This is one of those unexpected releases that totally blows The Blot’s mind. As a huge Pearl Jam fan I’m always excited about new PJ merchandise, but I never thought I’d be drinking official Pearl Jam beer. Eddie Vedder wine possibly, but definitely not beer. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is proud to announce the release of Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale!

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale Bottles by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Faithfull Ale is a celebration of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary as a band and its extraordinary debut album Ten. In recognition of these milestones, this Belgian-style golden ale is delicately hopped to 20 IBUs and fruit-forward from 10 incremental additions of black currants over a one-hour boil. Faithfull will clock in at 7% ABV. I have no idea what most of that means, but I’ll definitely be hunting for a 6-pack of Faithfull Ale in the next few weeks. It officially started shipping to all of the states in which Dogfish Head currently does business last week.

As Dogfish Head President & Founder Sam Calagione stated in the Faithful Ale press release, "To me, Ten is the perfect example of a record-lover's-record. The whole thing rocks. As an off-centered brewery, we believe in celebrating the breadth of our whole portfolio and we feel an affinity for Pearl Jam a long-player band in a singles-obsessed world."

Pearl Jam Twenty Faithfull Ale Label by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Dogfish Head also found inspiration in Pearl Jam's ethics, community-building and commitment to putting music before commerce. In recognition of this refreshing approach, Dogfish is donating $20,000 to The Nature Conservancy to aide in its efforts to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth.

Please drink responsibly!

Bent World Spray Can Artist Series by MAD

Bent World Spray Can Artist Series by MAD

Renegade spray paint cans are primed to bomb the streets with this new blind box mini series from Kidrobot and mastermind artist MAD. Inspired by his sold-out 2007 Bent World Vandals Series, Spray Cans are here with a total of 16 designs ready to make their mark on society.

Bent World Spray Can Artist Series by MAD

Each character is “Bent” with an angled posture and equally crooked personality. Each can comes in two versions – a “new” fresh from the hardware store look, and a “used” dripping with paint and well-placed tags from MAD and some of his favorite artists, including kaNO, Marka27, Jesse Hernandez, Scribe, Pon, J. Brunson and Sket One. Each 2 inch figure features a removable cap, articulating arms, and makes the telltale metallic rattle noise when shaken.

Bent World Spray Cans Artist Series drops November 3rd and will retail for $7.95 per blind-box. This is one mini figure series that is sure to leave a lasting impression on collectors, artists and VANDALS!

Booster Gold & Blue Beetle Custom 3” Dunnys by Nikejerk

Booster Gold & Blue Beetle Custom 3” Dunnys by Nikejerk

While The Blot’s been collecting toys and comics for most of my life, I can honestly say I’ve never been jealous of a fellow fan’s collection…until now! The minute I saw the photo above on Nikejerk’s (aka Jared Cain) flickr page my jaw hit the ground. I don’t know who commissioned the Atlanta artist to create custom 3” Dunnys of Booster Gold, my favorite superhero, and his best friend the Blue Beetle but I am extremely jealous. Really I’m just mad at myself for not commissioning them first! Are these spot on or what? I especially love the way Jared handmade the goggles on both figures. All they really need is a little Skeets accessory flying around.

Blue Beetle & Booster Gold 3” Dunny Custom Packaging by Nikejerk

As Jared explained on his flickr page, this pair of custom 3” Dunnys were commissioned by a private collector. After seeing how well these JLI members turned out, the collector then commissioned Nikejerk to customize 14 more members of the Justice League over the next year or so. I can’t freaking wait to see who the collector requested and what Jared comes up with!  Jared's definitely leading the way when it comes to pop culture inspired custom figures.

The Triplets Custom 3" Dunnys by Donta Santistevan

The Triplets Custom 3” Dunnys by Donta Santistevan

One of The Blot’s biggest regrets over the past year of writing The Blot Says… is my lack of coverage of custom figures. I used to write about them pretty regularly, but somehow that has morphed into focusing more on handmade resin figures instead of pure customs. Because of that I’m going to start making a bigger effort to feature some of the amazing custom work going on in the designer toy community, starting with these three cool 3" custom Dunnys by Donta Santistevan!

Don't be fooled by the small size, lack of arms and bright colors of The Triplets, these little guys are vicious! The Triplets are jonesin for a home, either together or separately. That being said, you can be Yoko and break up the band and take them home for $40 a piece or keep the flame alive by taking them all for $100. Pick them up at Donta’s online store today!

Argonaut Resins x Ume Toys NYCC 11 Exclusive Custom Tuttz & Pharaoh Hound

Argonaut Resins x Ume Toys New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Custom Tuttz & Pharaoh Hound Resin Figures

Last week Rich Page of Ume Toys traveled across the pond to attend New York Comic-Con 2011, and thankfully he didn’t attend the con empty handed! Rich teamed up with Argonaut Resins to create two very special NYCC 2011 exclusive custom resin figures: a white with pink custom full size Tuttz and a white with blue custom Pharaoh Hound.

I love how the vibrant colors of Rich’s work stand out on the white resin bodies of END’s Tuttz and Pharaoh Hound. And while I’m not 100% certain, I’m pretty sure this is the very first custom ever created of END’s all new Pharaoh Hound. Excellent work all around! The Blot hopes the new owners of these two customs appreciate the craftsmanship!

Every October Johnny Cupcakes releases a series of super limited edition Halloween inspired t-shirts entitled “There’s Something In The Cupcake Mix!” While The Blot doesn’t want to spoil this year’s SITCM Series 6 designs for those of you attending the release party at Johnny Cupcakes London this weekend, I can share this year’s online exclusive, “Robot Ovens From Mars.” The blue and yellow “Robot Ovens” SITCM t-shirt has a very cool retro propaganda style feel to it that The Blot really digs.

Each limited edition “Robot Ovens” t-shirt and SITCM Series 6 box is individually numbered out of 500 to guarantee authenticity. The Online Exclusive Johnny Cupcakes There’s Something In The Cupcake Mix! Series 6 t-shirt can be purchased directly from Johnny Cupcakes through its online store. Toby’s Secret Society Mini Series by Gary Baseman

Later today Kidrobot will be releasing one of its most exciting blind box mini figures series in a very long time, Toby’s Secret Society by Gary Baseman. While The Blot has never been a diehard Baseman fan, I know a lot of collectors who swear by his work. With that being said, this series is pretty awesome, both for its uniqueness and its ability to accurate translate Gary’s 2D work into amazingly accurate 3D mini figures.

Kidrobot - Toby’s Secret Society Mini Series by Gary Baseman

The mythologies behind any secret society are complex and powerful. From the Masons to the Illuminati, mystery, intrigue, and deep spiritual roots can be traced back through their histories in both subtle and dangerous ways. Toby, the protector of dreams, memories, and darkest secrets, commands a sect of 11 spirits and brethren - the Disciple, the Princess of Secrets, the Goddess of Dreams, the Knight of Good Fortune, and the Seven Sacred Magi: Compassion, Destiny, Freedom, Lust, Love, Trust, and Truth – a select group of 3-inch figures chosen to represent the impulses of man.

Kidrobot - Toby’s Secret Society Mini Series by Gary Baseman

2,500 cases include the full artist collection – buy one of these and your fraternal order will be complete. But what The Blot wants to know is, is 2,500 cases a lot or a little? The secret society comes to light today, October 20th, at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers. Each blind box of Toby’s Secret Society will retail for $9.95.

Nerdy Fresh Fall/Winter 2011 Collection

Nerdy Fresh Fall/Winter 2011 Collection

Nerdy Fresh, one of The Blot’s favorite indie clothing brands, dropped its Fall/Winter 2011 Collection yesterday and absolutely killed it! Their Fall/Winter ’11 Collection includes a huge variety of t-shirts, snapbacks, crewneck sweatshirts, varsity jackets and even sleeveless hoodies! There’s definitely a little bit of everything, and something for everyone. If The Blot could pull it off, I would totally be ordering one of Nerdy Fresh’s new sleeveless hoodies (but sadly I can’t).

Nerdy Fresh Fall/Winter 2011 Collection

It’s hard picking my favorite design from the new series, but right now it’s a tie between Chief Astro and the Gang of outsiders graphic. Although the dopiest part of the collection is definitely the Nerdy Fresh varsity jackets. I really love everything about them, from the colors and stitching to the graphics and stripes. Head over to Nerdy Fresh online store now to check out all the new limited edition designs, colors and styles, and pick up a few tees, hats and jackets while supplies last!

The Jellatic Empire: Star Wars Inspired Stormtrooper Jelly Bots

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Star Wars Inspired The Jellatic Empire: Stormtrooper Jelly Bots by The Jelly Empire

One of The Blot’s favorite surprises coming out of New York Comic-Con 2011 is this release from The Jelly Empire! A collaborative effort between The Jelly Empire, Argonaut Resins and Soundwave810, The Jellatic Empire is Star Wars inspired wave of Stormtrooper looking Jelly Bots. How awesome is that??? They even made sure to include the Stormtrooper’s clunky looking built in belt!

New York Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Star Wars Inspired The Jellatic Empire: Stormtrooper Jelly Bots Print by The Jelly Empire

The 12”x18” print seen above and these awesome The Jellatic Empire resin figures were originally sold at Big Kev’s Geekstuff NYCC Booth #E7 last weekend. No word yet if any of these are still available, but if so they will eventually show up at The Jelly Empire’s online store. May the force be with you!

V for Vendetta Pop! Vinyl Figure Concept Artwork

V for Vendetta Pop! Vinyl Figure Teaser Image by Funko

Do you love fighting for freedom against a dictatorial society? Well then you’re really going to love this V for Vendetta Pop! vinyl figure from Funko! The Blot knows nothing about this figure except for its release date, December 16th, but doesn’t it look cool! For now let’s just enjoy the concept art for Funko’s V for Vendetta Pop! vinyl figure until we find out more information. I wonder if this figure will be part of Funko’s Pop! Movies toy line or Pop! Heroes toy line since V for Vendetta is a DC Comics graphic novel? Only time will tell!

Halo Pop! Series 1 Vinyl Figures by Funko

Halo Pop! Series 1 by Funko - Master Chief & Grunt Vinyl Figures

Funko’s Pop! toy line has now official expanded into video games with the release of its new Halo Universe vinyl figures. The classic story of human supersoldier vs. theocratic military alien species can now be reenacted with these figures based on the hit video game Halo. Wave 1 includes Master Chief and Grunt as 3.75” stylized vinyl figures. This might just be the one corner of the pop culture landscape The Blot knows nothing about. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never played Halo and really only know Master Chief by his now iconic green helmet. But aren’t all the Halo characters basically Stormtroopers, all wearing the same armor in different colors? Or am I missing something?

Each Pop! Halo Universe Series 1 vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, has a rotating head and comes in a displayable window box. These figures are expected to become available on December 1st, 2011 and will retail for around $9.99 each.

I really love all the crazy details OsiRisORion and NeMo put into this figure, it's almost like a different figure every time you rotate a SJD.

NYCC '11 - The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs 2 Packs

The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs 2 Packs - Captain America vs Red Skull & Iron Man vs Iron Monger

When Hasbro announced they would be continuing their Marvel Comics Mini Mighty Muggs toy line The Blot thought it was kind of a joke. 1-2 releases at SDCC and NYCC isn’t really continuing a line when a majority of Mighty Muggs fans can’t get their hands on the figures. So you can imagine my surprise when Hasbro announced at New York Comic-Con 2011 that a new line of Avengers Mini Muggs 2 packs would be seeing a wide release next in conjunction with next summer’s The Avengers live action movie. This is pretty awesome news even if the four heroes are just repaints from last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con 2011 exclusive Avengers box set.

The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs 2 Packs - Thor vs Loki & Hulk vs Abomination

Hasbro will be producing four The Avengers Mini Mighty Muggs Sets, with each 2 pack featuring one super hero and one villain. They are Captain America vs Red Skull, Iron Man vs Iron Monger, Thor vs Loki, and Hulk vs the Abomination. I love the idea of each set including an Avenger and their archenemy, I just wish there was a bigger difference between this release and the SDCC box set. The Captain America and Hulk Mini Muggs are almost identical to the previous release. I’ve seen no word yet on when these figures will be hit store shelves, but as soon as I hear something I’ll be sure to post that information here!

Meet Courageous Spear Boy, the newest custom 8” Dunny from Huck Gee! Continuing his Gold Life series, Courageous Spear Boy looks ready to take on an army. In honor of this courageous warrior Huck has even created a little ode: "Courageous little spear boy. Going off to fight the big fight. Gonna make his mama proud. Courageous little spear boy. Doesn't know what he's in for. His armor plate. His pointy stick. His wooden hat. Gonna grow up and be a big samurai some day. Courageous little spear boy."

Courageous Spear Boy by Huck Gee comes signed, numbered and includes all of the accessories seen above. 10 figures were created in all, each retailing for $650. This set will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. So all interested should definitely email sales@huckgee.com immediately. These actually dropped last week so there’s a good chance they’re already spoken for, but it’s always worth a shot!
