SDCC 09 Exclusive Pink Edition Darth Vader Helmet Bust by Gentle Giant

People may snicker, but this is one of the San Diego Comic Con exclusives I have been looking forward to the most, and mainly because a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this pink Darth Vader Helmet Bust will go to charity! How cool is that? To help find a cure for breast cancer, Gentle Giant has given the classic Darth Vader helmet a new pink paint job for San Diego Comic Con 2009.


For every pink Darth Vader helmet sold from July 1 - July 26, 2009, Gentle Giant Ltd. will donate 10% of the retail sales price to Susan G. Komen for the Cure with a minimum guaranteed donation of $5,000, in support of Komen's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever. This donation will go towards research as well as education in hopes that a cure can be found. For this reason alone The Blot is planning on purchasing this girly looking Star Wars replica of the Dark Lord of the Sith’s trademark helmet.

Gentle Giant’s San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusive Pink Edition 8 inch Darth Vader Helmet Bust has a limited edition run size of 1644 and will be sold at the Con for either $60 or $65 each (I can’t figure out the exact price yet). The 2008 DCSWCC Boba Fett Charity Pin

I also thought this was pretty cool and wanted to share it with everyone while I was away. The Washington D.C. Star Wars Collecting Club (DCSWCC) has started to sell their third officially licensed Star Wars charity lapel pins. The 2008 DCSWCC Charity Pin features “animated Boba Fett with DCSWCC’s signature Washington monument as his rocket” and is limited to only 1000 pieces. (link)


What’s great about this pin is that “all proceeds benefit the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children Program whose mission is to prevent burns and improve the quality of life for young burn survivors and their families in the Mid-Atlantic region.” (link) These awesome Boba Fett pins are $10.00 each and are limited 2 per person. What a great idea and an even better cause! So here’s a wonderful opportunity for all you Star Wars fans out there to donate a little something and get a great collectible in return.
