MondoCon Exclusive Batman ’89 Metallic Variant Screen Print by Ken Taylor

MondoCon 2015 Exclusive Batman '89 Variant Screen Print by Ken Taylor x Mondo

The Blot is still at MondoCon 2015 in Austin, Texas, so a full review of this fantastic art and print convention will won’t be appearing until later, but here’s one release I couldn’t wait to post about. Last night I was lucky enough to attend Mondo’s screening of Batman ’89 starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson (one of my all-time favorite films). I can still remember at the age of 9 going to see the movie on opening night with my parents, and it looked as awesome on the big screen last night as it did all those years ago – albeit a lot more comical viewing it as an adult. To commemorate the screening, Mondo gave away to all attendees this killer Batman movie poster screen print by Ken Taylor!!!

No matter the subject, Ken Taylor’s artwork is always top notch and I personally think he knocked it out of the park with this design. It surpassed my every expectation when Mondo first announced this screening and print release. I especially love how he worked The Joker’s playing cards into the design as the Batman flicks them out to the viewer from the bell tower. Now if only Nicholson would grant an artist his likeness rights!!! I can only imagine the kinds of Joker designs we’d see. One of these days… (I hope!)

The MondoCon 2015 Exclusive Batman Variant Screen Print by Ken Taylor measures 24”x36”, features tons of metallic silver ink, and is limited to just 300 pieces. This variant will only ever be made available to attendees of the screening, but look for a standard edition to be released sometime soon. No word on when or where the regular edition will drop. Big thanks to BirthMovieDeath for the official photo of the print above.

Jack Nicholson Endorses Hillary Clinton

I know, you're probably thinking why is The Blot posting this? While this would normally mean nothing to me, Nicholson took his endorsement to the next level by releasing a really creative web ad on Saturday with help from director Rob Reiner. (link) The advertisement in support of Senator Clinton takes “a humorous collection of clips that put his support into the mouths of his most film famous characters.” (link) While the ad was done without the Clinton campaign’s endorsement, it is probably the best "Clinton for President" ad I’ve seen since her campaign started last year. The YouTube clip titled “Jack and Hill” uses scenes from many of Nicholson’s best performances from films including Batman, The Shining and A Few Good Men (and I think Chinatown and Easy Rider). Check out the ad for yourself and let me know what you think.
