Toy Review: Lil’ Teammates NFL Vinyl Figure 3 Packs

Being released just in time for the holidays comes this awesome Lil’ Teammates NFL Team Set 3 packs by The Party Animal. Currently 22 different NFL teams are available, with each collectible NFL Team Set including three different position players from one team (quarterback, lineman and running back). The Blot was lucky enough to get my hands on a Dallas Cowboys Lil’ Teammates set and it is awesome!

The Blot first found out about these 3” collectible vinyl figures while in Austin a few years ago when I found a Texas Longhorns Lil’ Teammates at the school’s bookstore. I’ve had a Lil’ Longhorn Running Back on my desk ever since. These NFL Lil’ Teammates sets are the same size and have the same attitude of the single packs that have been out for a couple of years, but now collectors can get the whole team in one package.

I have to admit these mini figures are great, and would make the perfect gift for the sports fan or toy collector in your life! And if you’re a sports fan/toy collector like The Blot then it’s a great merging of two passions. As you can tell from the photo above these guys almost the exact size as 3” Dunnys and have multiple 4 points of articulation (head, arms and waste). This is actually an improvement upon the Texas Longhorns Lil’ Teammate figure I have which only had one point of articulation at the head. That was a Series 1 figure and these are marked Series 3, so you can see how far the platform has come!

All in all these are pretty awesome figures at a really reasonable price (each set retails for just $24.99). The helmets are spot on and the paint application is very clean. Just look at those perfect stars on each Cowboys’ shoulder. Plus the sets come in a pretty cool diorama display package that can double as a NFL stadium. The Party Animal really did a great job on packaging these 3 piece sets. Now if only I could get away with displaying this Dallas Cowboys set at my home in Houston…my Texans loving wife isn’t having any of it!

Toy Review: NFL TeenyMates Quarterback Series 1

To celebrate last weekend’s start of the NFL regular season, The Blot got my hands on a couple of TeenyMates Quarterback Series 1 blind bags. Each bag contains two randomly inserted 1” NFL Quarterbacks and two puzzle pieces, which combine to form a football field on one side and a NFL mini-poster on the other. If you’re a fan of 1” figures then this is a pretty nice set. It’s an even better set if you’re also a fan of the NFL as well!

What’s great about these NFL TeenyMates is how detailed they are for such small figures. Each figure includes a mini football and comes wearing 1 of 32 NFL uniforms, which consists primarily of a pretty detailed helmet featuring the team’s logo. While these are a great cheap blind box toy for kids, I’d stick to the toy’s “ages 4+” guideline. I can see how these little figures could definitely become choking hazards for really young kids. With that being said, if you’re a sports fan and are looking to add a toy to your desk at work these would make a great addition. I’m also a big fan of the line’s puzzle football field. As you can tell from the photo above, the puzzle makes a perfect playing surface for your TeenyMates QBs. The only problem is I think you’ve got to collect all 32 figures in order to complete the puzzle.

While I don’t know if all 32 figures all have the same ratio, I do know there are three mystery chase figures randomly inserted into packs. To me, this is the best part of the series as each is a pretty cool chase! The rarest figure is the Metallic Gold TeenyMates Quarterback that could definitely pass a TeenyMates championship trophy. This figure has a ratio of 1 in 192. Next is the Houston Oilers Throwback figure (with a 1 in 96 ratio), which features the Tennessee Titans’ original baby blue and white uniforms from their days in Houston. Last but not least is the Glow in the Dark TeenyMate (with a 1 in 64 ratio) that, as you can expect, glows in dark! These are great chases, and I especially love the Oilers figure. I'll probably even pick up a few more blind bags just to see if I can snag one of these three figures.  I wonder what other old school NFL teams they may be able to include in future releases?

NFL TeenyMates are great for kids (ages 4 and up) and collectors alike, and actually feature some amazing details for such tiny figures. Each foil bag pack comes with 2 random quarterbacks and 2 puzzle pieces.
