Kaws Woodstock Peanuts Vinyl Figure

Kaws Woodstock Peanuts Vinyl Figure

Later tonight/tomorrow Kaws continues his sad decent into mediocrity. At what point are fans going to stop buying these uninspired releases where Kaws just takes an established character and adds crossbones to their heads and X’s over their eyes? I guess if you actually liked Kaws’ Snoopy figure then you’ll want his pal Woodstock as well, but IMHO this figure’s even worse than his Tweety release. And don’t even get me started on the news that this figure is not in scale with the Snoopy figure. That just baffles me! Medicom and Original Fake really dropped the ball on that one. I can’t even see Peanuts fans wanting this release, but I’m sure the Kaws collectors will cause it to sell out instantly. What’s next, Garfield? Oh wait, The Hundreds already did that one. Maybe Marmaduke?

The Kaws Woodstock vinyl figure is scheduled to drop tomorrow, Saturday, December 22nd, at Original Fake and retail for around $160.  Rumor has it this figure will drop on Kaws' online store later tonight.

“Joe Kaws” Snoop Vinyl Figure by Kaws

“Joe Kaws” Snoop Vinyl Figure by Kaws

The Blot would have written about this release sooner, but I really wasn’t sure what to make of it. The last few pop culture inspired releases by Kaws have been pretty lackluster, but this Snoopy (Kaws Version) vinyl figure takes the cake! Literally all Kaws did was add X’s to poor old Snoopy’s eyes. Is that art? I can only guess what Charles Schulz would say about this one!  And all you Kaws apologists out there don’t try to tell me he’s trying to make a statement about commercialism or pop culture. I could have taken a sharpie to poor old Snoopy’s eyes.

Something about this figure just looks off. Oh well, I’m sure it’ll retail for around $200 and sell out in about 2.3 seconds just like the Tweety Bird figures released before this one. The Snoop (Kaws Version) vinyl figure will go on sale today, Friday October 28th at noon EST on Kawsone.com.

Peanuts 60th Anniversary 100% Be@rbrick Series by Medicom

The 60th Anniversary of Charles Schulz’ Peanuts is almost upon us, and it looks like everyone is getting in on the act! One of The Blot’s favorite anniversary tie-ins so far is the Peanuts 60th Anniversary 100% Be@rbrick Series by Medicom. This four figure series includes 100% Be@rbricks of Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and Peppermint Patty.

Peanuts 60th Anniversary 100% Be@rbrick Series by Medicom - Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus & Peppermint Patty

I’m really hoping Medicom will be producing more Peanuts Kubrick and Be@rbrick figures sometime soon, because you can’t make Peanuts toys without a Snoop figure, right?

The Peanuts 60th Anniversary 100% Be@rbrick Series by Medicom will be released on October 20, 2010. Each Peanuts 100% Be@rbrick figure will retail for around $20 and come packaged on a full color blister card.

Peanuts x Lacoste Polo Collection

In honor of the Peanuts’ 60th Anniversary, Lacoste will be teaming up with the long running comic strip on a line of limited edition polos. The entire Peanuts gang is getting in on the act as Lacoste reworks its iconic crocodile logo to incorporate Charlie Brown, Snoop, Linus and Woodstock.

Peanuts x Lacoste Polo Collection Designs - Snoopy
Peanuts x Lacoste Polo Collection Designs - Linus, Woodstock & Charlie Brown
When The Blot first heard about this collection I got really excited. I love Charles Schulz’ Peanuts and I’ve got enough Lacoste polos in my closet to form a proper rainbow. But when I saw the actual designs they left me feeling a bit “meh.” I just can’t figure out who these polos were designed for, as the Peanuts x Lacoste logs are a bit too in your face for my taste. While the execution left me feeling a little underwhelmed, I still like the idea behind the collection and hope to see further Peanuts x Lacoste polos in the future.

Peanuts x Lacoste Polo Collection - Snoopy and Woodstock Polos
Peanuts x Lacoste Polo Collection - Charlie Brown and Linus Polos
The Peanuts x Lacoste Polo Collection will go on sale October 2010 exclusively at Dover Street Market.
