Sofubi-man September Painted Edition & Clear Purple Edition Vinyl Figures by Mark Nagata x Max Toy Co

Last week, Mark Nagata and Max Toy Company released two new Sofubi-man soft vinyl figures! One is the hand painted September Painted Edition, which was cast in peach soft Japanese vinyl and features a purple shirt, and the other is an unpainted translucent Clear Purple Edition. These sofubi stand 6” tall and feature one point of articulation (neck). Each figure comes bagged with a header card and was sold exclusively at MaxToyCo.com.  The September Painted Edition retails for $60, while the unpainted Clear Purple Edition retails for $50.

Nagata explained, “As many of you may (or not) know, I've had a life long love affair with soft vinyl kaiju since 1973. But, it wasn't till much later that I found out more about the actual process of making and casting these types of toys. The last few years I've had a goal to make a Sofubi-man out of Sofubi!” What a wonderful homage to the men and women who cast soft vinyl figures in Japan.

The Blot is so mad – I just missed out on another small run of Mark Nagata’s hand painted Sofubi-man!!!  Mark has said he’s not sure if he has any more blanks, but if so he may paint more up.  These sofubi were cast in flesh colored soft Japanese vinyl, stand 6” tall and feature one point of articulation (neck). To commemorate the opening of Mark Nagata’s new exhibit, Kaiju vs Heroes, at the Japanese American National Museum, Max Toy Company has teamed up with the JANM to release this museum exclusive Lucky Red Sofubi-man vinyl figure! It is a wonderful homage to the men and women who cast soft vinyl figures in Japan.

The Lucky Red Sofubi-man stands 6” tall, is cast in unpainted red soft Japanese vinyl, and features one point of articulation at the neck. Collectors can pre-order this fantastic new colorway now at the Japanese American National Museum online store for $40. Please note, the figure will not ship until after September 15, 2018, when the exhibition opens, and is available in very limited quantities.

So far, this magical figure has been released in three unpainted colorways: Flesh ($35), Glow in the Dark ($39) and Clear Pink ($40).
